Would it benefit me in any way to open up my wheel to see if anything might be off? Sometimes when accelerating from a stop, it sounds like one of the gears in the wheel is loose or out of position as a rattle resonates from the inside of the housing.

Sounds like a good question for Fanatec support if you ask me. When it comes to the inside of these wheels (where the force feedback engine is concerned versus the pedals or the wheel connections, etc) I would not venture very deep unless you aren't given an alternative.

Not on topic as far as taking the wheel apart, but...

I took my DFGT pedals apart this weekend for the first time and fixed the sticky gas pedal with some WD-40. Also removed some dog hair that needed manual removal, due to the grease in there. A vacuum wouldn't have worked in this case. Bad dog!

Passports returned, flights booked, hotel booked, hire car booked!!!

Landing in the US on May 26!!! Wahooooooo!

Awaiting word of safe landing... Note: The parades you will see on Monday won't really be to celebrate your arrival, but you can pretend. :sly:

I think I'll leave my wheel alone in terms of opening it up. It only does it when slowly accelerating from a stop with the FGT.

My pedals on the other hand... next time I open those up, I'm securing the potentiometers with tape so they don't get any ideas of moving out of their positions. After that I'll struggle to close the pedals up again.

England wins at kicking footballs! Huzzah!

In other news - It's the Le Mans 24 hours tomorrow! Group C classics race early doors (9am ish UK time I think) followed by an Aston Martin special race, with cars spanning many decades....

Lots of coverage on Eurosport HD if you have it - cracking.

Hopefully no massive accidents in the LMP class this time round, anyone remember this a year ago?

All the best.
Matt

Here you go mate:

Oops, see it working now.

And yes, but wow! It doesn't seem like a year has went by already!

 Cheers Con - I fixed it, didn't realise it didn't accept full urls til I went and checked the videos thread to see how all the embedded links were posted.

 Nicolas Lapierre. Unbelievable.

...but then cut short by an absolutely massive accident and I hope all involved are ok - I believe that they are, I think Ant is a little bashed up but alright :(

The driver of the Ferrari should be shot, he plain just turned in on Davidson when Davidson was alreay past him, poor poor awareness 👎.

It's those darn hybrids! They just dont make enough noise!

No, really, it was just a case of very dumb driving. You need to be aware of everything around you and the Ferarri driver was definately lacking in awarness skills there.

And he called it a 'racing incident' without even blinking 👎
It's one thing to make a mistake like that at all, but at least have the common sense and sportsmanship to apologize and take your medicine.
Clearly not a GTP_ driver :)

I think the issues I've had recently with my wheel might be firmware related. I haven't updated the wheel in almost 18 months now.

Might give that a shot in the next few days.

I agree entirely that the Ferrari driver has quite a bit to answer for, however I do think that Ant (and all the LMP1 drivers for that matter...) do become rampant animals at certain points in the race - Ant was on a mission and at times like this the LMP1 guys put ultimate faith in the other drivers to not take them off - 99 times out of 100 that move would work because it would be a professional driver used to endurance racing, on this occasion Ant took a bit of a risk passing a guy with little experience and at the end of the day he's technically an amateur too - so I think it's one of those things - a little bit of bad luck but with the best will in the world, an amateur or an inexperienced endurance racer in a slower car will make mistakes - in this situation it had the biggest of consequences.

I didn't think he showed much humility in his interview though - he said he saw him coming, or seemed to say that...no offer of apology or anything. I maintain the opinion that he was at fault, but I believe when managing traffic that you have to sometimes learn who are the guys you can trust and if you're going to trust everyone and take the max amount of risks on track you will occasionally get unlucky and get the situation we had here.

Unlucky for Ant - he was driving great - as were the TS030s in general, it seemed like after this it all fell apart for them, which is a shame. Shame for the Oli Gavin/Milner 'Vette too - some of the big battles never quite came to fruition through bad fortune & turn of events.

Hey, I'm just sitting here staring off into the distance and suddenly, Chukabilly popped into my head.

Anyone know where he went? He was the ultimate in dedication and then, poof, gone. Seems like GTA would be right up his alley.

I'm here Tim and landed safe and sound. New job is intense and there is a million and one things to sort out. Got my SSN today though which is a significant milestone, not least of which is that I can now get paid at the end of the month!

Going to be a while before I'm back here with any intent, but I do pop by each week to see how my D2 mates are doing

Good to hear that all is well. I can't imagine how much there must be to get organized and adjusted to.

Hope to see you back racing soon.

 Jon 👍

Glad you made it safely. Get yourself all settled in... We'll be here for a while. :sly:

Welcome to the USA Jon. Glad the flight went safely. Best of luck with the new job.

Welcome to my time zone, Jon!

Hopefully it won't take too long before we can race you online.

+1

I'll gladly get up in the middle of the night to be in the same race you are. :)

But first of all, do take the time to settle in.

Hey Jon! Great to hear you've landed in the US and are setting up Carlos-Fandango-Towers.

Maybe you'll be back in time for a WRS week @ Motegi, which is coming soon via DLC it's been announced today! :D

Motegi announced today but no date for it yet.

Scion FR-S announced as free DLC and people still complain in the comments of the article.

Saw how fast a lot of you Europeans are so went out and bought a PAL version hoping to learn a few things from your replays. Then thought, ok I would like to add my DLC cars and tracks to it. Nope, don't work!

Can anyone shed light on how I go about getting the cars and tracks for the PAL version when all my ID's are North American. I redownloaded them while having the PAL disc in the system but still shows no downloaded material to install.

Any suggestions?

I'm guessing that you would have to buy them again from the region appropriate PSN store.

As an example, one release of the GT Academy happened sooner in the European regions than in the US (This goes back a few years, I think the one at Indy Road).

In order to get to the right PSN store, I had to create a PSN ID that used a UK address (With UK as my country) and then I was able to see the Download in the PSN store.

This is speculation on my part, but I would not be surprised if this were the case.

You think I could add that ID to my existing as a family member and get it free?

Can or will the store convert from in country currency to dollars. I ask this as I think the game was for Turkey distribution. It asked for language selection of English or Turkish. Definately PAL version though as I can watch UK, Belgium, etc.. replays. So wouldn't it be in Euros?

I'll try to set up an ID that lives in Ankara or Istanbul and see if that helps.

I have an NTSC copy and only use it to view/record NTSC replays.
No need to have all that other stuff on that NTSC Game save IMO.
