GTP_WRS Week 17 : Official Results

Nice work, poolhaas! Gold in D4! Nice work bojangles and NINE_HUNDRED as well. 👍

Congrats to other division podiums, and those who met their targets.

Agreed, Jon (Carlos), tons of distractions this weekend, with the 24 and the Canadian GP. I didn't get my submitted lap done until Sunday night!

Sad to see a couple folks losing the drive for WRS. I'm still in to it, although I will admit that I don't have the time to do anything but WRS in GT5, haven't even done any of the new seasonals yet.

Replay up later this evening, I want to give it one last inspection so I don't repeat last week's mistake. :ouch:

Congrats to Spud on an amazing time using a controller. Definitely messed up t3 but dont know if i could have knocked off 3 tenths.

Thanks Gravitron, first gold for me! I spent alot of time in this combo to get it over before Le Mans and the Canadian GP.

Congrats to Bojangles and yourself, NINE_HUNDRED got close to bronze, nice job on DS3!

Replay will be in tomorrow.

Big congrats to Spud, Rutter, A7X and CSL for all beating me soundly

Also a big slap on the back for UsualSuspect - first division win. Great drive mate 👍

And Matt and Ash - great showing from you guys. 👍

An odd week for me. My splits were pretty good all week and I was wishing for a top 3. Then I figured out I was coasting too much in T3 and losing between 0.2 and 0.5 there. Nailed T3 in the end last night but with splits that would've put me 13th on the splits leaderboard but beat my previous best lap by 0.1... so that T3 rocketed me up to 5th again in the results.

My 3rd sector for my submitted time was 41.923 which was the fastest of anyone this week i think. :) (I'll post up my replay anyway if anyone would like to see it) My quickest T3 last night was a 41.805 but with a horrendous T2.

So in theory, I could've pipped Maverick for the bronze but sewing up my best sectors is still proving to be just that.... a theory. Need to work on some consistency if I ever want a podium.... but that's not to take anything away from the 4 top chaps that beat me. 👍 This was a high stress combo I reckon.

Many thanks to Joost and Kev for sorting out my submission

And to think I'd been assuming my 41.951 was the fastest... I figured out early in the week T3 had gobs of hidden time, probably why my T2 stopped improving, as I had to continue focusing on the entire lap.

Division 1: Par: 1'33.631
Curiosity, where does this time come from? I'll admit I ask because I don't believe it possible...

Almost unbelievable what Spud {D1G and Overall] can do with the controller! Skill rules! :)

Hang in there, Chris, that D1 target is within reach!

Kudos to the UsualSuspect and T13R for D2 and D3 top honors, respectively.

And in my D4, top honors to Poolhaas; podiums to Bojangles and Lucas.

Congrats to NINE_HUNDRED for the Handicapped top spot!

I liked the car and combo, Kevin, but it didn't like me! :indiff:

41.805

I thought I was going OK on a 42.61 but I'm nearly a second off the pace :dunce:

Outstanding Chris, outstanding...

Cheers Dan - I'll get there.... when I get my Clubsport pedals hopefully... :sly:

Thanks Jon.. just wish I'd had another week to tie it all together... :P

Here's the vid... Messy T2 - too much curb into turn 2, too cautious through turn 4 (the long one) and too wide in 5:

Slightly better T1 and 2:

And the actual replay if anyone wants that - I don't actually need a verification this week.. :)

Nice - I reckon I lost the time in T3 in that downhill left (penultimate corner) by braking too early and also being slighty too cautious on entry into the last corner.

Thanks for the lesson mate 👍

I'm not 100% sure, but it's presumably calculated on basis of the handicap of the fastest guys in the registry. Since Maz has the lowest handicap he'll probably go faster and that time is based on that thought.

EDK
D2 Gold times are in the range between 1:35.037 and 1:35.435.

Silver times are in the range between 1:35.436 and 1:35.903.

You were toward the bottom end of the silver range, where your normal Handicap is toward the top end of the silver range. So you underperformed relative to your handicap. (But really not by much).

Indeed. I think your question should have been answered by now.

You can see it in the opening post:

>> Division 2: Par: 1'35.037 Gold: 1'35.435 Silver: 1'35.903 Bronze: 1'36.442

Thanks Guys 👍 now I know why I failed maths

Anyway, .189 is not to bad considering I did week 17 in an auto :)

I just couldnt for the life of me concentrate on changing the gears as well as trying to avoid the walls at the same time :odd:

Also, well done to Suspect on a fine victory in D2 & to Spud on the overall victory

Congrats to all other winners & podium placings. 👍

My confusion comes from only D1 silver and bronze guys competing, but I know at least some of us put in more than normal effort, so while I can safely assume aliens would best us, I would be surprised to see anything under 1:34 at all from anyone.
It's not a huge deal by any means, but I've always wondered how the handicap times are decided upon.

Congrats to all podium finishers and especially to Spud for a killer time using a DS3.

JBrinkley, I thought you had me this week when I saw your new splits on Monday, I was just hoping I had a good enough T3 to close the gap a little. Fun and frustrating week!

Congrats also to everyone who submitted a lap, it was hard to get a clean one this week.

Drifting, really close to the wall, out of the 180deg turn 4?
Such amateur stunts! :sly:
Just kidding, Of course. Nice lap, T13R! Congrats on D3 gold!

Here's my time on the stocks - feel free to throw fruit, I'm here to learn. (*munch* *munch* *Ewww*)

A question for the controller guys (I'll be reviewing some PALs eagerly later) - what sensitivity settings do you use? Why?

(I have habituated to 7, but I see milross went with 1.... I tried dialling it back a bit, but I remain sceptical)

Ran out of time (and talent) here - by the time I get warmed up in each (often fairly far apart) session, it's time to quit, so I seem to be getting timid. Gotta do something about making notes and better use of time.

I've never really experimented with it, I use 1 when Millross puts up a tune (unless he has it higher) and it usually works pretty well. May start trying a higher setting, see what happens.

7, always!
Not sure why, I just stayed with it after testing all of the others and it just felt the best for me.
Cheers All !!!

Spud has always been fast with a pad, even on the FM series he was considered as one of the fastest, he used the pad on that game as well. Some have the smoothness with the pad, others don't. I fall into the latter category :sly:

Generally I just keep the controller sensitivity at 0, but I think it depends a lot on the car as well. For example, when running the GT Academy in a car on Comfort medium tyres, I was using the sensitivity at 7 to make it more responsive. But I find having it at 7 when running in a race car/something with a bit of handling ruins the ability to be smooth and I just find it to be too twitchy.

my replay. :dunce: for blowing T3.. really wanted that gold, but I gave it my all.... time is my problem... lol.

congrats to all the winners.

Just want to plug Joost's work on the Results section of the leaderboard, which he mentioned over in the Leaderboard Discussion thread. I'm not sure if this functionality is new (far right column), but it was new to me, and makes finding replays much easier:

http://wrs.gtplanet.net/GT5/results/17/

Boost the Joost! 👍

I can check a few more NTSC's tonight, prolly.

Wow, haven't noticed that yet, very smart and easy way to see what still has to be looked at.

Nice work Joost!

My replay

Cutting it quite fine in the penultimate turn, but I reviewed it a couple of times and was pretty happy that I just flicked the rumbly bits...bloomin' hope you see it the same way, Mr Mystery Reviewer! :scared:
