GTP_WRS Week 17 : Official Results

My "safe" NTSC replay, numbered 016.

Grabbing T13R's... Gotta see how D3 ran this week. :ill:

Drifting, really close to the wall, out of the 180deg turn 4?
Such amateur stunts! :sly:
Just kidding, Of course. Nice lap, T13R! Congrats on D3 gold!
LOL, thanks for checking Gravitron, I appreciate it. And yea, like in week 16, drifting might look cool in the replay, but man did that slow me down. I got just a little on the rumble and had to immediately apply countersteer to keep it pointing the right way... oh well!

Here's my NTSC replay. I got close to the walls in a couple places, but I've examined it as closely as the replay system allows and compared it to actual wall hits and I'm confident it's clean.

Fun combo. I put in over 700 miles on this one! Mad props to all those who set the real fast times.

My replay, NTSC of course. Pretty conservative from the chicane onward. I was terrified of the walls after getting what felt like a good T1 and the tricky (for me) first section of T2. I didn't find much problem with T3 normally save for the final corner but I really didn't want to toss out my good start on this lap. :)

I was pretty happy all week with this one. Never once felt frustrated to the point I needed a break. Like the Energizer bunny I just kept going and going! Went through I don't know how many miles, several visits for oil and I could still go for more. Great fun and I am pretty pleased with my results. If I am reading correctly I outdid my handicap and logged a time one step up in where the silvers would go. Yay me! 👍

I've grabbed all the NTSC replays I could find and will watch intently. Wish I could see Spud's replay  to the DS3 Master!

I had a chance to check a couple as well (though I'm new at this, so if anyone wants to recheck my checking I would encourage them to do so):

Nice lap! Making it look easy!

Using the next higher gear might help you carry more speed through some of the corners; you were upshifting before getting to WOT in a few places. It sure looked fun sliding all around though!

I've never really experimented with it, I use 1 when Millross puts up a tune (unless he has it higher) and it usually works pretty well. May start trying a higher setting, see what happens.

7, always!
Not sure why, I just stayed with it after testing all of the others and it just felt the best for me.
Cheers All !!!

Generally I just keep the controller sensitivity at 0, but I think it depends a lot on the car as well. For example, when running the GT Academy in a car on Comfort medium tyres, I was using the sensitivity at 7 to make it more responsive. But I find having it at 7 when running in a race car/something with a bit of handling ruins the ability to be smooth and I just find it to be too twitchy.

Interesting. I'm going to have to play with it more.

When was running a non-front-up setup (my own or Vagabond's, I think) , 7 was ok. Nose up* (milross's), it felt very twitchy.

I was also late to the Chassis Reinforcement party. Too much mucking around, probably.

Also, thanks Speedy!

*Which is really down. Or something.

All NTSC replays checked prior to this post.

Thanks for reviewing DDiamond. Now if I could find out what the Stig, I mean Spud, eats for breakfast maybe I could be faster.:)

Wouldn't we all like to know :sly:

He has always been recognized as one of the fastest drivers on the Forza Motorsport Series, that was also using a pad. In my opinion it was harder for him to set top times on Forza than what it is on GT5.(WRS) The reason being there were full leaderboards and a lot more faster drivers.

No disrespect to anybody (including myself) but in the WRS you are lucky if there are more than 2 or 3 exceptional drivers (D1 Gold) each week, he is used to competing with a lot more than that on Forza. He would be one of the first to tell you that to get top 5 or 10 on Forza is a whole different ball game because there are way more Dan and Zoky's on the leaderboards.

The fact that he's using a pad is even more amazing. I just bought a Xbox 360 and started playing Forza 3 with the pad, very, very difficult. Waiting for my new GT2 wheel to arrive Monday, can't wait!!

Let me know your gamertag for when FM4 comes out, it will be good to have clean GT5 racers on my friends list.

I know a few people who found it hard to adapt with the wheel on FM3, a few have said it didn't feel right because of the physics.

But the Inside Sim Racing Team have been able to get their hands on FM4 and they went as far as to say it now has the best physics on console, sounds promising :)

Back on subject

Maybe he has potatoes for breakfast (spud):sly:

I'm sure most weeks he will give help and advice to those of you who are using the pad 👍

Looking forward to Forza 4 myself, been hearing good things about it.

I'll send you my gamer tag via PM, not sure I can keep up with ya, but I'll have fun trying.

I like this more casual racing style here (monthly racing series) not to say the competition isn't tough. I get tired doing iRacing sometimes, pretty intense over there.

It's a great series the WRS, it's just a shame that more of the D1 aliens don't take part very often.

Having said that i'm taking a break from the WRS at the moment as I seem to have burnt myself out

Not that I class myself as one of those aliens :sly:

Checked a couple of replays. All clean and thanks Ninehundred for checking mine.

Thanks for the check and the comments, Pickle. 👍
I was a slave to the auto-tranny in the NSX, though.
Too old and slow to handle all the coordination that manual required on this combo. :dopey:
Given unlimited play-time, I probably would have eventually moved to manual.

I should really check some runs too, as I haven't officially checked any yet, I'll make up for that in the future.:)

- Smooth and tidy lap mate 👍 Very cautious through the 3rd sector, which is where you lost the most time but given the nature of this circuit, I'm not surpised :) - most laps with a good T1 + 2 become a tip-toe to the line so as not to throw it away. In fact sector 3 was the most crucial and my best lap was set with fairly average 1st and 2nd sectors. I waffle once again.... a great lap anyway matey and a deserving D2 win.

Same here, guess that's why neither of us needed a replay this week... :grumpy:

Edit: just realized aside from the Nurb, this is the first time I beat you. ;) I guess we can be rivals now. :)

There will never be a load of superfast drivers in the WRS as only a small percentage of the World's fast guys are members here. Once (if?) PD put TT leaderboards on-line there should be loads of top competition out there though... at least that was the case back in GT5P.

Of course with >1,000 cars and quite a few more tracks in 5 vs 5P it will take a while before the car/track combo's become properly competitive, but there were some very fast and very competitive combo's back in 5P (RX7 at Fuji anyone?).

I didn't run this weeks event, am I still allowed to help out to verify replays or I had to have run the event?

As a regular participant, you are still allowed to help verify replays.

This being a city track, wall contact is the main offense you are looking for. Since you did not run the combo, I would encourage you to jump the the car to see where the invisible walls are for any corners that look suspect on any replays you review. And if you're simply unsure of something, send a PM to me or one of the other race admins.
