GTP_WRS Week 18 : Official Results

Sorry double post, forgot to edit last post!

Thanks alot for checking and the advice,I can always use that.
And congrats on the overall win too 👍

Thanks for at least trying, WRP, 👍 I can understand your reasons for not wanting to be "the reviewer" in this case. Normally I would suggest that you try using the 7zip compression program, but since another user's replay worked, I'll assume your unzip program is fine.

I'll try downloading my replay myself and rechecking it, and will report back either Works For Me, or will update with another attempt.

EDIT: I also noticed the the Results page on the leaderboard didn't recognize that I'd submitted a replay, and was ignoring that strange fact for now, but if Joost sees this, maybe he knows how to fix it? Seems fixed, now that I have a working replay for download in 2 separate posts. :dopey:

EDIT2: WRP, I got the same behavior as you, corruption when trying to copy from usb to xmb, so I re-compressed the original, uncompressed that new file to usb, and tested that I can view it on my PS3. I'm attaching the new one here, and will go edit the original post too.

THANKS!

And many apologies to WRP and others who tried to view it. Must be more careful and thorough.

EDIT3: Just tried downloading the new zip file and it is better. It can copy from usb to xmb fine. Phew.

Again, NTSC replay, same suffix 019.

Congrats Rutter, Ash, Gravi and Bojangles for the wins!

Well done Carlos on grabbing a 2nd place too, no mean feat since a lot of regular D2 heavy-hitters were running.

Shame to see so few D1ers and no D5 crew running, but then it's inevitable I guess now the game gets older.

I'm submitting this fastest lap of mine with supporting photos of the only real close-call, Turn 1. Looking at this for over 2 hrs, I couldn't find any spot that was dirty. The stepped rumbles make it difficult, so I'm taking a chance at a 2nd DQ. Not a good practice, but I think it's clean. As such, I will go along with whatever the reviewer and Admin's think is best.

Got your new replay submission imported and...

I couldn't find a single frame from turn 1 where there was any green showing between your tire and the rumbles -- and I tried hard believe me -- so I say it's a clean lap. You couldn't have cut it any closer and been legal for sure. I swear a few of the photomode stills had a single red pixel under your tire!

As far as I'm concerned congratz on Division 3 Gold

Thank you WRP001! Really bad form from me on that. I should have submitted a more obvious clean lap, but I think you can see why I went with this one.

Given my DQ 2 weeks ago, I need to be super careful...I'll start that now. :D

Look forward to future battles with you! 👍 Congrats to you on a great finish in your first week!

EDIT: Thanks  for the mentions guys: Jon, Kristof, Dan, Dominic, T13R.

I have a question :embarrassed:

The way I understand it I am now D2 Bronze, according to that handicap thingie.. Do I rush on to my profile to update my signature now? :embarrassed:

Even though I'm second to last on the handicap list it's still great to be on the list, I'll try to post my replay tomorrow after work :3

Btw: I think I overperformed a little compared to my skills on the qualifier.. (a) The ring, Racing hard and FR is my favourite combo of all :D (Let's say I've probably driven more laps around the ring than any other track in the game, despite the laps being > 20km!)

Classifications only change at promotion time (next one will be after wk20 I think) and demotions are voluntary.

I won't be submitting a replay [so black-flag me] due to the fact I deleted it when I observed that a replay wasn't needed from me as I was in 5th place. I did find later that the 5th place was because of the unaccounted for top two D4 positions. Stupidly, I assumed that Gravitron and Poolhaas was running in D4 and their promotions had not taken effect. And, yes, I saw their D3-icon on the boards. Like I said, me :dunce:

It's my fault that I posted the wrong results in the first place.

So I understand you deleted the replay and I won't be gray flagging you for this one.

You will keep your podium finish.

Fetchbot downloads the zip file, extracts the files and checks the replay files for GT5 data. If fetchbot can't extract the file it won't show up on the board.

I think the first replay you posted was somehow corrupted as the second one was the one the board recognized (as you can see here).

Joost, you're a classy and stand-up guy. Thanks, on both accounts, 1000000%!

I found another replay that I don't think has been checked.:)

If there are any more PAL replays, let me know and I'll check them.

Thanks for the heads-up PM, Jost. I was not expecting this, and really feel you are being overly generous. You and the OLR team always reach out to community racers even when not requested to. 👍

In the future, I will wait for the "dust to settle" in the results thread before taking any actions RE: replays.

I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but I thought everyone was supposed to do this anyway. I think the rules are pretty clear in the first post every week:

"Time verification:

Save your ghost replay and keep it at least a full two weeks after the event's deadline:

Racers, named by the OLR Admin staff, (if any) will be required to submit a replay for verification
Any submitted time is subject to a time verification request"

I'm pretty new here and don't know if the admins have ever requested a replay after the initial results thread, but the way I read it they could do it and you'd be required to provide one.

Maybe you didn't see the first unofficial results thread that was posted by Jost, which didn't ask me for a replay [5th place], therefore, IMO, I was not obliged to keep a replay for two weeks: [See below] I did not interpret the rule the same as you, however, Jost's post backed up my interpretation, it would seem.

Of course, I learned later that that was not the case after seeing later posts reflecting that, but it was too late. I have since been trying to salvage the replay with the "utilities" tool, but to no avail. Nobody's fault but mine. I won't be so hasty to hit "delete" next time.

EDIT: I did mange to find a replay .009 {EDIT: faster] but no match with the entry time. :indiff:

Hope that re-explains the sequence on how the issue played out. ;)

Any more NTSC replays to be checked? Slow at work today! :)

Joost -- I'm impressed with your well thought out code! Pretty amazing little fetchbot you built there.

Thanks for checking and the tips Carlos 👍

I think his point was that anybody submitting a time in any week of WRS is supposed to keep the replay of that submitted time for two weeks whether requested initially or not, i.e. promotion to a podium spot after somebody gets red flagged.

Be that it may, Jost did not agree with his point at this juncture, so maybe the rule is being misinterpreted by some. Or not.

However, if a podium gets "flagged" for a violation and the 4th or 5th or 6th gets moved up to a podium for whatever reason, I can see the point made. But, sometimes, I have seen times that the "unofficial results" don't get to "official results" for some time, but NOT on a normal basis. Keep a replay for two weeks, three weeks or what?

Maybe the rule should be, keep replays until the results thread goes "Official." Those not having a replay requested then can delete it if they want.

I just want to race and have fun!! 👍

Hi Dan.

I'll go for that Dan fun is what it is all about, I sold my ego some years ago, fun and banter is the way to go for me.

Little point that may help you and others from the rules.

Save your ghost replay and keep it at least a full two weeks after the event's deadline:

If you save a best lap replay and submit a time on the replay, keep the ghost for the two weeks, just incase anything happens. You never know the two above you may have dirty laps, then your next in line and asked for a replay.

Dont matter if your asked for a replay or not at the time the results are posted, just keep it.

Hope that helps mate.

Phillip.

Exactly, Phillip, have fun!.

As I alluded to earlier, my replays in the future "will be kept for two weeks after official results are posted regardless of my placement."

I believe that would cover all bases for me.

That is true, but in this case I found it fair to give Dan a little slack as I can imagine doing the same.

PS: This is not a message that everybody can just throw away their replay. Do keep your replays as they may be requested! But as i've said before, it way my initial mistake, so I'm not going to be gray flagging Dan in _this_ particular case.

PS2: I'm not going to be home until Sunday afternoon, i'll update the first post with the replay statusses when I get back as well as post week 19.

Thanks, Jost. I still think you were overly generous.

Also, to be clear for those that may not know, I didn't solicit Jost for any kind of review/appeal.

In fact, I asked to be flagged because I no longer had a replay per the rules. My fault and admitted so.

In the future, I would think that Jost and the OLR team would step up and be just as judicial for anyone else for any like-kind scenario that occurs.

Dan

Hello!

Sorry I wasn't home all week. So here is my replay.
