GTP_WRS Week 19 : Official Results

Congrats to all who participate, division winners and podium:cheers:

Mention to Rutter200

My mates on D2, and specially to Carlos who is improving every week 👍

Great fight for top spot on D3, hope to see a rematch this week :sly:

Really pleased with my 4th place as i had no time at all and wasn´t expecting to be in front of Madmax and Peter.

Again Chris and CSL for their tunes 👍

Nice lap, now I see why I was 2 seconds slower :D

Thanks for the check!

Lap is nice and clean, but it is not run as GTP_Aderrrm. I guess it is you, but it is still not by the book, so I have to flag this for now. Sorry about that. I will leave it to the admins to make a decision.

His lap might have been run while not signed into PSN, which we won't DQ anyone for (unless it keeps happening), but please do make sure you are signed into the PSN (when it's up - I had to....) so we can verify the account used.

Congratulations to all the winners and podium placers aain this week, and those that acheived their targets. Was certainly a fun and challenging week. Thanks again to the admins for all their hard work.

Special mentions to Rutter for another great lap time (going to have to take a look at that one), and kudos again for checking replays.

Bugman (damn you:sly:) for giving D2 something to chase, and also to my mate Brinkley - 0.004  nice work for the D3 win and a great time (surely you're going to be up in D2 soon) 👍 Oh and also Ferret for his first week in the WRS, great showing mate 👍

Congrats to all who participate, division winners and podium:cheers:

Thanks 'US' - I think that this was my best performance int he WRS yet. Was certainly my best handicap performance since I joined in wk8. I'll attribute my improvement equally between my new G27 (from wk14 onwards) and learning from you and the other fast guys in D2 and D1. Am very happy to be top 10 o/a and another silver trophy. Still trying to get a division win

If I am to say a few words, it is a nice lap, but there is also many places where you can easily gain much time. Use more of the track's width, go all to the side this allows you to get a smoother and faster turn-in to the next corner. Also in the big wide turns (first and last) it is not fast to follow the inside line all the way round, instead go wide early, then sharp turn without throttle, then more or less full throttle all the way out. There is a lot to be gained that way.

Oh, and welcome to the WRS 👍

Hi Cicua, thanks for viewing my lap and many many thanks for taking the time to offer your feedback. I struggled to find the right line on this track, as on many others! I might swallow my pride and run a few laps with the driving line on next time.

Good clean laps here guys 👍

I use driving line, there's no shame in it from my view, to many track and car variables to remember every braking point.
Just keep in mind you usually have to "out drive" the driving line, as it will tell you to brake sooner than needed in many cases.

Wow, I had no idea you started the same week as me, nice improvements though, and congrats on 2nd in D2, there's many a week I haven't gotten that myself. 👍

Just to let everyone know, you can change the username in the XMB menu, offline runs will show the XMB username.
Just press triangle on the username, options or something like that, any questions I can get answers for.
Hopefully this information can help people from having problems by not being signed in.

Thanks :)

I did the name change in XMB as well as the PSN was down one week when we ran and a few people had the same issue.

NTSC replay follows. I was watching it again to make sure and I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't string together all my fast bits. This one is pretty ugly and you can just see chunks of time going up in tire smoke. :D Up at the top of the handicap board though so I must be making progress...right? I'll take that. 👍

Sorry no advice from me, the D3 guys were faster than me and the D4 guys were only a little slower than me, mostly just needed to get back on the power a little earlier. I'm about to watch CSLACR's replay next though, maybe then I'll know more. 💡
EDIT: Watched it...amazing. Basically to get in the 1'09's, you have to have a ton of faith and really strong arms to hold the hell on!

teecro, you were a little close to the left wall on the first tunnel, but I couldn't find any speed drop in the Data Logger. 👍

First week I had FF above 1, and it was on 10.

And you put it perfectly, I dove in no holds barred, pretty much every time. Also my arms were slightly sore the next morning, I kid you not.

Something that may help you, it was when I was more careful that I actually ran all my laps under 1:10, after barging into every corner for some time, I think it helps the learning curve for turns, to let you know what can be done.

Congrats to everyone this week. Yes MilleRSVR it was close, didn't expect that. What on earth happened to Iddledoo?? The guy was miles ahead of everyone in Div4.
Anyways here is my PAL replay, I'm going to take a week or two off.

My replay attached. I know exactly where I lost the time in T1 by running wide in the tunnel, otherwise I'm very happy with this lap. Thanks to the verifier in advance

G'day chaps. :)

Mixed feelings about my performance on this combo... on the one hand, I'm well pleased with my progress over the week since I usually perform pretty poorly at this track. On the other hand, I kept getting glimpses of a lap time well into the 1'09's but could never tie it together cleanly. The good wins over the bad I reckon and at least I beat my handicap.

Big slap on the back to everyone who did get into the 09's 👍 Rutter - outrageous mate. Even my best splits all together would've been 0.3 down on your lap. Great job 👍 Another back slap to everyone who beat me with my own setup  :P

I arrived at it the same way I always do - over-drive the car and make adjustments until it feels the most stable on turn in and full throttle in the traction zones, then drive it properly and make small tweaks to optimise it. Glad it was useful to some of you. :)

Great job on the D2 podiums for Jon and Ash 👍 Nice one guys.

And a final nod to everyone for surviving the week in spite of barriers.

Thanks for the review 👍 I had to watch my reply a couple times in that spot because I just wanted to make sure. I remember when I did it in my lap, nervous as can be thinking "wow, that was close!:scared:"

BTW: Aderrrm's replay is not verified on the leaderboard, I think it's because the green flag is in front of the name instead of behind it.

Thanks Chris - I know where I lost the tenth that would have got me the win, but I've now clue how to make up the other eleven to Rutter!!!!

Haven't been on my PS3 much since Monday but will rectify that tonight and get some replays checked and try out the wk20 combo

All green!

Division 4:

2---1'13.604---GTP_MilleRSVR

Thanks for reviewing Gravitron.

I'm still pretty new here on GTPlanet and to the WRS, but would like to do my part in reviewing replays in the future. Is there a protocol I should be aware of, can I review anyone in any division? What are the requirements etc.

You can download any NTSC region replay (i.e. same region as you) and review, regardless of division. Typically, you're checking for...
- GTP tag being used to run the event
- correct tyres
- no turbo!
- no skid recovery feature active (you can see a flashing symbol somehwere)
- time matches that of the leaderboard
- that the lap is legal. This is the hard bit and you'll have to refer to the first page of the event thread each week to determine what's legal. Typically, a driver has to have at least two wheels on, or vertically above track at all times, not hit any objects (walls, cones, brake markers), and not take any shortcuts! You may need to use photomode and/or data logger to determine of contact has been made - datalogger will show a drop in speed if wall contact is made. Rumbles are considered as track, tarmac beyond white lines sometimes, and green stuff rarely.

Hope this helps 👍

Thanks for the info, I think I'll do a few practice reviews first to get the hang
of it. Haven't played with the data logger or photo mode much at all.

You'll only need those for really close calls, and it's always ok to say "I'm not sure, somebody else wanna have a look?"

It gets a bit painful sometimes as you can't rewind the replays but you'll get the hang of it. If you have any questions, just post them (with pics if necessary) or PM to the admin team.

EDIT: ...and what Dominic said ^

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go next week.

Now I need to practice on this weeks combo, this one is going to be tough for me. Can't seem to drive on those hard tires, anyway that's a different topic all together.

Thanks again.

BTW: Aderrrm's replay is not verified on the leaderboard, I think it's because the green flag is in front of the name instead of behind it.

That should not be a problem, maybe it's because of the red flag earlier... but i've manually changed the flag on the board. So it's ok now.

Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to the race admins aswell, keep up the good work.

A special mention to Carlos for getting better each and every week, you beat me again, nice job and to Bugman for the Division win.👍

Here is my replay.:)
