Rudi,
Thanks for sharing that, being in the US I don't know any other way we would have seen it. Amazing how "slow" it looks, but I realize the slow in/fast out + smoothness has got to be key. Thanks again for that and the great setup!

Haha, so I checked and one person downloaded my ghost. Input would be welcomed by anyone. I wanna know why I couldn't shave more time off. 👍

I had more problems than you, but it looks like turn 1 and the 2nd to last turn could have been better. Comparing to Rudi's and A7Maverick's, they went through those turns a couple MPH more than you, and they got back on the throttle earlier. It was also said already (and was news to me at the time) that the lower RPM's had more torque, and you and I both were revving it high too much.

But still an epic lap which should definitely push you up towards the big boys. 👍 👍

DDiamond, you actually were doing great everywhere, but that double right-hander and tight left before the tunnel cost you dearly. You also revved too high (again, same here).

Please don't take offense, just IMHO of a midpack D4 dude.

Thanks Gravi, although yeah I was red lining that thing so much haha.

Really nice lap. Calm driving, smooth lines and good balance in the car. Others should look at this.

That said, I think you lose at least 0.2s in the second last right-hander, and only because you hesitate. Lifting off mid corner costs precious speed, every metre all the way to the line. And there is no reason to be afraid of the left curb, it can help you turn the car while maintaining speed, so going wide is worth it.

My target speeds:
137 km/h at the second pit sign
160 km/h at the Dunlop bridge
170 km/h at the second bridge
193 km/h at the line

You are a bit below those all the way, which means several car lengths (several tenths) at the line. And that is a pity, because your entry speed and angle are perfectly fine, if you had just floored the gas and hit the left curb ... who knows?

Thanks for checking, the bend just before the tunnel was difficult to take, as I twirled around several times :), also thanks to Vagabond for checking my lap

Tidy lap 👍 You were too far over to the left before turning into the tunnel so lost exit speed and therefore weren't carrying enough speed out of the tunnel, which also cost you in T3. That's it really... you could maybe have been earlier on the throttle out of turn 1 but it was a tricky one to nail the right spot. :)

Yeah it was either one or the other, good T2 (but poor tunnel) entry, or poor T2 (but good tunnel entry). Just couldn't get them together in the same lap. I found I was trying to push T2 so hard because it felt like my worst sector, that I would leave my braking till a little too late, and be too close to the apex on tunnel entry. In actual fact, might sound funny but for me the hardest part of the track was the first uphill left-right kink in T2 after the T1 split comes up on the screen.

How would yourself, (or anyone else for that matter) suggest the best way to take that section? I found staying to the right up the hill and then slightly sweeping across to the left was the easiest way. I tried many times to cut over the grass on the left and "straight-line" it but with this car as soon as tyres touched the grass I was an elegant ballerina doing a pirouette :dunce:

Appreciate your thoughts and welcome suggestions from others as well. Will be chasing the top guys ghosts when I get back to Sydney to see how to improve my style.

Also appologies for not checking any replays this week but without the PS3 until I get back home on Sunday. :(

How would yourself, (or anyone else for that matter) suggest the best way to take that section?

The left/right sweep at the top of the hill after T1 was my downfall on most laps. I found it best to stay on the tarmac and took the sweeping right hander with the tiniest dab on the brakes then a slightly trailing throttle 'til I straightened up again... full throttle down the hill, another blip on the brakes just before the first right of the double right hander, straighten up then on the brakes letting the rear run out slightly turning into the second right... trying to keep the car in the middle of the track for turning into the tunnel for better exit speed and getting on the throttle fairly early.

My best was 22.805 but still a tenth and a half slower than the fastest guys, who just seemed to carry extra speed through the whole complex. Very tricky section and alot of my laps ended up in the barrier in the middle of the 2 right handers, or smacking the tunnel wall on entry.

A great challenge though, I enjoyed it immensely. :)

Thanks for checking, and thanks for the feedback, Gravitron, as evidenced below:

One of my first test with a video grabber.

My lap. :)

Not that bad for 10,-€. :)

I love vids.....just adds to the series. Nice lap!

I use the Haupauge HD-PVR. What is your setup and $$$ in USD?

usb-video-capture-adapter-image-1.jpg

incl software = 8.50,-€, = 15,-$? thats all. :)

sure, Haupauge is much better, 👍 but the price too. :dopey:

You having a week off Zoky?

Amazing lap, mate... stunning T2 👍 Comments.. Yellow with green wheels? :sly:
Thanks for checking!

Yes a week off for me definitely.I absolutely love rally cars but to drive them at Monte Carlo with R3 tires..... ridiculous. And new seasonal tt's should be up tomorrow so you'll probably see me there!:)

This week is a head-banger to be sure. :yuck: See you next week then mate. Have fun. 👍

Drifting the first corner is fun, but not fast :) Besides that, your lines are not that bad, but your car seems a bit erratic, are you using a DS3? You can win lots of time by going more smooth lines. You should also practice driving without TCS, it costs a lot too. These things are connected. If you can steer better and position the car better, you can better get on the gas at the right time, so you do not *need* traction control. Keep going 👍

Don't want to say anything nice about the D2'ers that beat me helpless :grumpy:

Good lap for a D4 podium. It looks as though you had fun with it.
It was really close coming over the knoll but I checked many times and could not see more than the left side tires off.

I think the corners leading to the tunnel cost you a second place but it's hard to get every corner correct every lap.
That leads me to say if you want to slide the car around corners you will need some more practice at it.
In doing so I think you got 1/3 of the corners correct, 1/3 too early and 1/3 too late.

I would also advise to keep off the TCS and try to keep a higher gear through most corners.
It's hard to get away from the higher rpm's that help turn the car when lifting/slowing (I'm still trying) but it helps with this combo (and most others) when trying to carry momentum.
As this car did not have high HP but did have high torque (depending on what parts you add), keeping the lower RPM's help gain quicker speed out of the corners.

Again, good lap and congrats on the podium finish.
You were not too far from my time.
If you had a couple more corners correct you may have beat me.

Some measure of redemption this week, relative to my horrible performance in the CR-Z.

Excellent lap. I saw 129mph before turn 1, which I could never achieve, you also hold 96 through turn 3 and use 3rd to the tunnel, which I never did - shifted to 2nd each time and always had a "slight" slide. It's obviously smoother to stay in the lower gear to avoid getting sideways and spinning up the wheels. You also make use of all the track, whereas I didn't in a lot of places. Very close to the wall in the tunnel, almost robotically precise avoidance of the wall infact :)

All that adds up to exactly .900 difference between your lap and mine. Interesting to watch for sure ;)
