Since this is done in TT no tuning possible, therefore those values (like all other tuning settings) on default and thus correct.

You don't need to, you can't adjust power and weight in Time Trial. You can check tyres on the information of the saved file. So go to load it, and it will tell you what tyres used, what physics used (should be professional), etc.

Oh yeah, you've got a point there with the tyres Sureboss... They can be chosen and could therefor be wrong (I think I remember a DQ of some poor soul in a recent event due to this). Then again this R8 WRS was on the best available S2s anyways... anyone showing a competitive time on S1s should get a special medal

Finally, my replay

Nice driving (as usual) 👍

Congrats to all podium places. When you look at the div1 replays, it always seems so easy. And I believe I'm roughly following the same lines. But it seems that doing it perfectly or not still can make allot of difference.

Here's my replay:

Nice close result with only 4 tenth spread in D1. I expected Dan to be quicker in T3, but not Ian, so well done! :) I guess the key is to stay in 3rd for the final two corners. I shifted back to 2nd to cancel out the oversteerundersteer. Looks like there was a tenth to be found there afterall
Anyway, great job guys 👍 Also congratulations to all the participants  Good to see the popularity of the WRS is rising with the new leaderboard.

ps. I will post my replay soon.

That's strange because I stayed in 3rd to not get the oversteer in 2nd

Or did you mean you shifted back to 2nd to cancel out the understeer? :)

Epic fail!
Ofcourse I meant to say that I shifted back to 2nd to cancel out the understeer in 3rd gear :sly:

I didn't shift down to 2nd at any point.

Not even in turn 1?

Nope, me neither, even a .4X T1 split I had once :grumpy: was done in 3rd. It's annoying to keep it in third as it gave me the feeling of near stand-still with revs in the basement, but the V8 has good lower end torque.

Edit: oh yeah, and like Sureboss said, nowhere on the track did a downshift to 2nd take place. If you checks the alien's replays you find this effect there as well (e.g. Dan's ;) viedeo in here). It's about the only common thing between my lap and theirs, but there's no 2nd gear involved :P.

Dan used 2nd gear at turn 1, and so did I. I tried a number of times using 3rd and I couldn't see how it could possibly have been faster.

Darn, I would have (double) checked the video before claiming he stays in 3rd at all times, but I was rather convinced it was that way. Unfortunately I"m sitting at work and any kind of streaming video application is blocked (bad and at the same time good so ).

I'll post my replay tonight, then you see how a .49 T1 is done in third. Since I'm not the fastest boy around here I expected doubt to come up and kept it.

Of course, I will take care of it right here, right now :sly:

I used third and Dan and I had identical T1s.

I'm not saying 3rd wasn't necessarily as fast or faster, but I certainly couldn't make it work for me, and I thought I tried it in numerous ways too.

My problem was my lack of consistency, I hit .5 in T1 when I got it right.

EDK
Then what happened to the rest of your lap? :sly:

 Kevin, exactly the question of questions. I think I asked myself that like 100+ times during the event (and outside the event). My best lap (worst of D1, as usual :grumpy:) I in the end had to post was over .2 slower in T1 already... tells all you need to know about the usual rest of my laps :banghead:

When I first tried out this combo I stayed in 3rd for the first corner because as Ren said there's good torque at the lower revs. I could set .5s in 3rd, but I could set .5s more consistently dropping into 2nd. I guess it depends on your driving style and how you control your car.

EDIT: Just to avoid confusion I might add that this is NOT my official replay in-line with my submission (that replay is found in post #35), this was only meant to give some "evidence" to the 2nd or 3rd gear topic...

Replay with T1 22'497 in 3rd gear ... The rest of the replay is really not worth watching... and would take too much time out of the day

Edit: Quiete right Aderrrm. Consistancy (my downfall) is key. And downshifting sometimes helps cause you can (I think) control corner entry speed over that a bit better. I, for example, am convinced staying in 4th in the lefthander after T1 is faster, but I started dropping it to 3rd there cause I could just get the apex and the throttle-drop better.

I reviewed a few replays this afternoon and came up with the following:

CrazyTortise - clean and green 👍
You give a new meaning to the expression 'use all of the track' :D
I had to watch the passing of the first left hander 3 times to make sure it was clean, but the 3rd time I was sure that it is. Quite daring pass I'd say ...

Andy2125 - clean and green 👍

Maverick - you zip the individual 5 files into a compressed file instead of the whole ps3 directory. If I copy one the other 2 folders, rename it and copy your files into it, the console marks it as corrupt data. Perhaps zip again?

I don't remember doing anything different than I have done in previous weeks, but none the less as Steven has requested it this way - I am happy to provide 👍
