But now a question that had crossed my mind with the first tuning event: power and weight stock, suspension tuning allowed etc... What if someone ups the power by 10 horses, or drops 20kgs, could that be veryfied?
Much easier to verify than a suspension setting change. We can look at apex speeds, top speeds, rate of acceleration.

Bottom line is that the reviewers are the first line of defense. If something looks funny to you, bring it up to us. We will dig in.

While we can't get to replay data, we still can deal with suspect laps.

If nothing else, we can invite them into an online lobby with BOP power/weight on the car for them to prove their relative pace.

I will always work to quickly build a tune and post it for events I plan to participate in, and I think we have several capable tuners on here who are willing to share.

We prefer to run events without tuning....

My entirely unsolicited 2 cents -- I don't have a great feel for tuning myself, still trying to figure it out and slowly making progress, but I'm very happy to see tuning play a part in every time trial. A lot of guys are quite generous in sharing their tunes so inability to tune isn't really a limiting factor.

Importantly though, it's on the driver to test drive the different tunes available and figure out which suits him best. The ability to evaluate whether a particular setup is helping or hurting your lap times is not an irrelevant driver skill.

Still working on a tune.. lost a good .2xx over my best 1st sector.. but gain it all back... + more to be up over .4xx at the line.. so should be able to go a little faster..

My thoughts exactly @alexamenos, one of the main things I love about these time trials is that is pushes me to improve my driving technique. The same applies to the tuning, by playing around with tunings you learn how they work & eventually makes you competent enough to create your own tunes.
So as well as learning to get the best out of our driving techniques we are also learning get the very best out of the cars.

Could not agree more! To add to that even the tuning itself is a skill, and it deserves credit just as driving does. Schumacher for example, whether you like him and the controversies thoughout his carreer or not, was only so successful because, next to his abilties behind the wheel, he could "tune" the cars so well (better put: tell the engineers what needs to be done to make a car work on a particular track). So let tuning be part of it! I am just extremely greatful for the friendly people sharing their setups here!

The hardest thing about tuning is that it's exceedingly difficult to find a test driver who can run really consistent times. I had one that was a little helpful at the village but he's not worth a crap at Bathurst.

So if we go without tuning and someone changes their front camber by a degree, how do I verify that?

We are providing what the game has provided for us, and doing the best we can with it.

We prefer to run events without tuning, so your rage is misdirected.

Maybe send an email to Kaz. ;)

Not even vaguely rage...RAGE IS SPELLED LIKE THIS...lmao

Then, if we can't see everything, how do we check races with BOP and no tuning? If tuning is prohibited...its prohibited. A little trust goes a long way. I do believe that we have become too cynical and jaded after X number of years. And...If it aint fun its WORK . And as to running someone elses tune..I'll be cynical and say it WAS their tune and they may not have updated and/or they chose not to give the opposition their edge ( I wouldn't :dopey:).... its the way they like to drive....not necessarily how how you drive. I know I'm preaching to the choir but its probably costing us members who become frustrated and quit. IMHO . No response necessary or solicited..... Nor will I bring it up again...no wait....I didn't ...so I can do it one more time !!
EDIT:
I may be naive but I really trust people and as noted above a cheater will eventually get caught out. Yes it is fun to figure out which tune is best and it really is interesting to mess with settings to see how it effects speed, line, etc...but to those of the "I can't tune worth a 🤬 persuasion" its laborious and takes away the fun for me.

EDIT
And while I'm on my soap box.....why are the vast majority of you TTers not racing? Going round and round by yourself, while technically interesting, would seem to lack the sheer Adrenalin surge of executing the perfect pass, or holding off a guy who is two divisions above you in the TT because your race-craft is better than his. If you have been reluctant to race with us....give it a try...join the chat and put all of your technical skills to good use. You will be welcomed with open arms!!

AS far as racing other WRS guys I would love to, but I only get about an hour a night to play, so time restricts me. Also the one time I did it I was lapped almost by the whole field, i was just out for a Sunday drive, improving my skills/times has been more enjoyable than the actual racing at the moment. Now if we could get some races going when we are matched with other drives with our skills, that would be fun. One other issue is the time zone differences, a lot of the racers are on future time (6 hours ahead). Think it is difficult to get us all lined up, that is why the TT's work so well, it is on our own time.

If you mean races, as in races not TT's, a recent update allowed us to select tuning prohibited. So that's how we check. :)

If you don't mean races, but you mean TT's, I'm not entirely sure what you mean.

In any case, understand your point. But I think we would run off as many as we'd attract by changing to something that's a lot less verifiable.

As stewards, we are here to assure fair play, and the rules we put forth need to be reasonably verifiable.

If we are unable to explain how we will verify a particular regulation, we're not going to get very far.

He's talking about these races, which use the TT combo.

Our Wednesday night races are at 9 pm Central. So if you can make your Hour 9-10, you might be able to participate then.

Otherwise we have 2 pm your time on Wednesday, and we also have 3 pm your time on Saturday.

But car and track are very enjoyable, will definitely run more sessions this week.

Yes I did one, one Wednesday night, unfortunately I was so off pace I was seconds behind before the end of the first lap. Was lapped by almost the whole field. I work (I know hard to tell with all my posts during the day :D) during the week so can not make that one, and Saturday tends to be family day. Life tends to take precedence over playing, like many of us I am sure. Thanks for the info though

The only reason I don’t race is because I live in the middle of nowhere & have no internet connection so don’t have PlayStation plus subscription. I have to use my phone signal to connect to the game, but I doubt the signal would be strong enough for proper racing. :(

Second session, 150 km total so far, using the tune from EDK (thanks!)

Seems pretty good but still room for improvement in the last sector - got issues with the last corner for some reason.

Try your connection without the game and see what Playstation says... you “might”
be ok. We have others who raced with wi-fi and a phone.

Apparently I have got a free 2 day trial for PS+ so I might give it a go to see if my signal can hold up

Make sure you have an unlimited bundle as you'll be amazed at how much data you chew through with on-line stuff 👍

That was one of my worries with trying it on my phone signal as I have a 30GB package of which I usually use about 10GB for my business, so I only have 20GB spare for gaming

I'm gonna try Kev's tune tonight if I have a chance, the transmission setting is basically perfect <3

A fun session of tweeking tonight to see what others are doing and trying out others settings.

Nothing to report, other than a sustained grin :D

Back at it later in the week, hopefully with some improved times.

Pretty stock setup (minor tweaks to downforce and ARB) with a basic transmission flip.

Last week I didn't really get any time to improve my initial laps, hopefully this week I can really work with my driving.
