GTP_WRS Week 70 : Is This Thing Gonna Tip Over?

I'm getting 2 wheels in the dirt at the top of the hill coming into the S/F line and getting flagged for it....???

Watch your replay, this car isn't very wide (But it is relatively tall, hence this week's theme :sly: )

You might be gettting 3 wheels in the dirt. Either way, I would try to avoid cutting it that close.

By the way, no white line rule this week. Just keep at least 2 wheels on track.

I sure wish Jump_Ace would teach us how to be so fast in the second sector - that's the only way I'll be able to catch Animera or CT - oh, so please don't tell anyone in Div 1 if you decide to share.

Wow some of you guys are crazy fast, can't even imagine getting under 38 in T1. Updated Splits:

I just cannot get that long turn before the tunnel right, so I'll keep trying.

If you jump into the cockpit of this car, you'll notice that the gear indicator on the dashboard shows its an automatic, and the driver's hands never leave the wheel to change gears. Maybe thats why the gear changes are so fast in this car. Weird.

Woke up this morning & did a few laps to wake my self up, but the sound of this car actually put me back to sleep.

It's a CVT type gearbox.

So, what do you think, would it be better to set the car in auto-transmission (I'm not at home, so cannot try it myself)?

Not sure changing to auto will make a difference. You then lose out on gear selection and choice on the corners, especially through T1. Auto might change you down to 1st and being on N1's might not give you the drive and traction out the corner that you really need.

Thats just my thoughts and 2c worth :D

Awesome T1 - I completely agree about that turn at the bottom of the hill - there has to be a secret to it - Jump_Ace has us all by almost .15 in that sector alone and I'm stuck doing 30.3xx's in that one forever now. The key seems to be getting the car turned quickly enough to get back on the throttle but no matter what line I take into that turn I never seem to be able to keep up momentum to prepare for that uphill climb.

We need to know that T1 secret because man that is my downfall right now. Is there like a secret NOS button hidden somewhere??

I tried with auto due to the CVT thing but wasn't as fast due to some dodgy gear selection (as CT mentioned). I was a lot closer to my manual time than I am with most cars however, so it is better than the usual AT.

That sweeping right after T1 is always treacherous. What I tried to do was keep it at 51mph through the whole turn as much as possible.

I dipped to 50mph I think but only for a moment. I usually enter the turn much later than you would think and usually start left foot braking at 72mph (depending on how well the exit was at T1) and lift the accelerator to help stick to the inside so that I have a tight exit path entering the covered part. If you go wide here as you enter the tunnel, I found you lose a surprising amount of time even though your mph may be about the same. I also tend to briefly get two tires on the inside grass when I do it right, the car seems to hug the inside very well here. I know I did it right when I hit 57mph at T2. HTH.

My problem with this track is how the heck you guys get a sub 38!??!? I can't seem to string it all together with these tight turns. If I'm lucky I hit a 38 flat :grumpy: o wells. Killer combo tho, the slow car on this tight track makes it very technical to get everything just right. But that T1 was the fastest I've been, I'm usually about .05 behind it :/

As stated above me, run manual for gear choice. The CVTness of it is diminished by the seven fake ratios softwared into it. There is little to no power interrupt during a shift which is nice.

First splits from me, short on time this week so might only get 1 more crack at this weeks WRS sadly.

Tonight I thought I would practice that devil of a sweeping turn before the tunnel, and then suddenly I was passing my fastest lap ghost in the 3rd sector, and improved my laptime by 0.050, with these splits.

37.688
1'07.878

Now all I need is to put my 3 best sectors into 1 lap! Way easier said than done though.

First and probably only run for this week, depends on how much work sucks over the next few days.

I found running out of the bottom of the hill up to the tunnel , giving away a little in time for speed, albeit 2 kph, the result into the final turn, is worthy. I'm entering the tunnel at 89kph by running wide through the right with as open a steering as possible, this lets the car accelerate earlier resulting in more top speed at the top of the hill. If I run closer to the inside during this turn, my T2 is quicker(not much) but I overtake the ghost through the right left after T2, with the more speed /slower time method. Might be just me, but thats what I've found.

New splits. Poor T1 but good T2 and average T3. Saw under 38 in T1 once, no idea how I did that.

38.180
1'08.394

edit: meant to say my overall lap is just a tiny fraction better than previous.

New splits. Lost some in T1, gained quite a bit in T2 and some more at the finish line. :)

T1: 37.886
T2: 1'08.199

That right-hander before the tunnel is a nasty bugger.

Some marginally less embarassing splits in my 'purple peril'. Thanks for the help and advice Phillip 👍

T1 - 38.169
T2 - 1'08.608

Updates from last night:

37.690
1'07.953

Almost at my limit on this one.

Had a bash earlier. This car is so slow, reminds of my cinqecento. She was a beauty:lol:
