I disagree with the ruling on ConRollins replay. After reviewing it and driving the track slow seeing exactly where the real barrier is myself. I believe he drove up the side of an invisible wall.

The invisible wall isnt even an inch in from the edge of that rumble. I think Firecrackers last photo is smoking gun proof of it. Cars up in the air front tire on the side of the wall this angled the body of the car up and away from the wall otherwise where he drove is impossible to do and not throw sparks off that wall with body contact.

I dont neccesarily disagree however with him getting a green flag. If he couldnt tell and our admims reviewing the replay cant tell, how could he have been expected to tell?

He drove up the wall so dang smooth. He used the rumble ramp to get very slight lift then when the front tire touched the wall it went up it. I know for sure he didnt do it on purpose but I know glitchers use these slight ramps to get out of games physical barriers.

I use to do it all the time have alot of experience at it thats how I can see he didnt hit a jump there isnt any jump just the car driving up the wall with the front tire then the back tire also does it a little and then it drives down the wall very smoothly.

Watch the replay in chase cam and hit the rearview button so your watching from the front end of the car its so obvious and so smooth but you can see it no doubt the car didnt jump it drove up AND back down the side of the wall.

Edit: well hell not sure exactly if it was reverse chase or cinematic now but in one of those views it looks like theirs an invisible rumble he drives up on and back down not like he jumped at all.

This combined with the data logger evidence is the reason for the Green Flag.

The behavior of the car at full speed is definitely not consistent with an invisiwalls, and believe be, I've watched a lot of laps to confirm invisiwall touches.

That's some nice compliments on my smooth driving ability there Jack.

Race Specifics state:

  • All Surfaces are Track
  • No Contact with Walls or Invisible Walls

If I drove on it, then would that make it track and not a wall at that point?

Of course I jest.

Having driven the race and not feeling or hearing any contact, and then reviewing the replay before submission and not seeing any contact (I really wasn't looking for any as I didn't think there were any close enough calls to really scrutinize), I submitted the lap. I didn't feel any contact with the wall, the data logger doesn't indicate there was contact, and there is certainly no "thump" heard at that point. Maybe, as you say, I drove up on the wall so dang smoothly, that it didn't register on any of the mechanisms in place to catch just such a thing. As you said, I didn't realize it if that's what happened, and I will tell you this, I am not in any way a good enough driver to pull it off again if it did in fact happen that way. Chalk it up to one of those rare situations where it may or may not have happened, and no one will know for certain.

I finished 7th in my division and 13th over all. I frankly don't think all this fuss is worth the effort. Had I finished on the podium, I think I would for the sake of argument, red flag myself.

But for now, I think I have figgured out a way to gain a few tenths using the second tunnel's wall in the Week 73 challenge, so I gotta go practice.:D

Of course, I jest again!

Jack, I'm left with a couple of questions after reading your theory.
As ConRollins has asked as well - do You mean he ran up a vertical wall, or a sort of horizontal invisible curb / rumble extension?

If the car did in fact hit a wall, how can the drop in lateral g's be explained? If a wall was hit, it would certainly go up. That, along with a speed drop is the main indicator (if sound is inconclusive) when an invisible wall is hit. A drop in lateral g's can be explained by the left side rising and the car losing grip.

Why did the rpm go up? It could only go up if the drive wheel loses contact with the ground. If the wheel drove up something and didn't lose ground contact it should remain constant.

If the front tire and rear tire both had contact with the invisible item laterally I would think it would straighten the car out in a way that could be detected. If the tires ran up an invisible extension of the curb / rumble they would follow the same path rising to the same height and follow the same arc back to the ground - something that did not happen here.

I haven't run any tests, but I'm certain that the car's left tires are airborne because it just ran up the ramped curb and that can probably be duplicated and documented.
If you are correct and there is some sort of invisible curb or wall there there, you should be able to be run a test through the section slower than race speed (so as to rule out the ramp possibility) and document the contact or vertical lift with pics and predictable spikes / drops in the data logger.

I don't want to sound like I'm shooting your claim down, not at all in fact as I would have to test it to be certain. I am curious though as to how the data can be explained when applied to your theory.

I tried 3 times did it my 3rd try got the front tire in the air at a different speed the rear as far as i can tell does not leave the ground.

If you wanted to test it Hydro I think its possible you could do it also with a high probability of doing it and you will know when you do you'll feel it.

Edit: I apologise I was way wrong. Its a fluke jump effect that can happen when your no where near the brown curbing and have say about 3 inch of room from the edge of the rumble. It doesnt even occur in the same exact spot. I will post pictures later to show it can happen and both the front and rear tires sometimes for no reason I can see at all will just both catch air, super clean on the rumble lots of room to spare. More often it seems just the front will fly, sometimes neither will catch air. Has nothing at all to do with the wall. Just a random jump effect it seems. Sorry ConRollins and Kev and Marc and anyone else.

I'll certainly give it a shot as I'm curious to see if the car can lift at a slow speed.
I'm still not sure what I'm looking for exactly though. Is it a vertical wall that a car would ride up / bounce off, or an invisible curb that the car can drive up?

Some very nice laptimes from the front runners 👍 I just barely scraped into the 1'44's in my stints and was looking to submit but my new work commitments destroyed any time I had for submitting or extra sessions 👎 will try and complete the cycle and actually submit on the next event I take part in :dopey:

Well done guys! cyas on my next day release from work :sly:

Missed submitting this one due to health, disappointing. Would have barely managed 🤬 in D4 with the SLS but enjoying watching the video replays. Congrats to all, especially those that made T2 look easy! :scared:

See you in week 74!

Did you miss this part, from every week's Results thread?

Drivers who do not have a submitted lap posted in the results are not to post any information related to a laptime they might have achieved in the results thread. Any such posts will have the times removed.

You didn't mention lap time, but telling where you'd have placed is pretty much the same thing. Hope the health problem isn't too serious.

Don't worry about it Jack, you had a feeling and pursued it - and I doubt you would have even brought it up had you not felt strongly about it.
I'm glad you actually followed up with your own experiment to determine if your hunch was correct or not. 👍

Oops! You're right, I'd forgotten about that. :embarrassed: My apologies. Been a while since I've done this stuff.

Health is doing fine now for the most part. Dental stuff isn't bad until it is, you know? Need to relax my body some and I'll be super. Hoping for another great combo next week to get me back into doing this every week.

Congratulations James and everyone else on the podium.

Thanks!! I'm almost tempted to say I was a bit shocked as to how far off I was, but there are some fast guys on here. More practice, right?!

I took a look at Mohit's replay so we can finish up this week.

All good 👍
Pretty close to the wall under the bridge, but I've seen closer. Being a walled circuit, close is expected ;)
