Opening Statement from President of GTPILMC

I has been one of my dreams since I first started gaming to start a tournament. It was a thorn in my side, after a short period of time playing Gran Turismo 5 under several users and accounts. Starting over, thinking over fruitless ideas, until I thought about going under the same basic principle as already created tournaments, yet to add to them and deepen their complexity. I have created what I am sincerely hoping will be an honest, respectful, realistic, superior racing league, in which 16 drivers do battle on tracks and racing facilities around the globe.

I introduce to you the GTPILMC, an event based off the specs and ideas in which are listed in the credits, and adapted and improved in the way to fit the series. Based off the ACO (Automobile club l'Ouest), the GTPILMC is a gtplanet.net-based series which will be hosted online. Many thanks to the Playstation 3 producers and Polyphony Digital for making such a dream for so many people become possible.

General Procedure

  • Thread will be posted the day after one race has finished (the thread will give general information and discussion of the next event)
  • Practice session will start on Thursday, at 8:00 PM EST
  • Room number will be posted on race thread as to what number the room is
  • Qualifying begins at 8:00 PM EST and ends at 8:30 PM EST (room number will be posted five minutes in advance)
  • Warmup lap will start at 8:30 PM EST (I will not wait for slackers to qualify late and have to stop up everyone else's evening for them)
  • Race will commence

You should also note that...

  • Races will be every SATURDAY throughout the summer until August 15, 2011
  • I will be able to host on many occasions, although many times I won't be able to
  • You must be of LEVEL 20 to race in GTPILMC, and of Level 35 to race LMP1, Level 30 to race LMP2, and of Level 30 to race GTE Pro
  • Skid recovery force will be OFF, damage will be LIGHT, fuel/tire wear ON, ASM OFF, driving line ON

Schedule

Pre-Season Sprint Race presented by Bridgestone

The GTPILMC season kicks off with a pre-season race on the infield road course of the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. For extra competition and prestige, the race will be only 23 laps, equaling a 60-mile sprint race. The race will not be for points, however it will be put on your driver resume (see "driver resume" for more details). You can drive ANY CAR you want, but drive well, because you will be ranked carefully and will most likely be demoted to another class.

The Nurburgring 24 Hours

To start off the start of the real points season in style, the famed Nurburgring 24 Hours should do the trick. 7 laps around this circuit may not seem long, but 100 or so miles around a narrow track in the forest is more demanding than one might think. What a start to the season!

Suzuka presented by Panasonic

The second race of the season will be at Suzuka, which will be sponsored by Panasonic. It will be a demanding 20 laps around this circuit, and will surely test driver capability as well as any other.

Monaco Street Race

The third race of the season is certainly the most stylish, and probably one of the most presitigious... it's Monaco. This street race will test car and driver and will also test temper and strategy. 40 laps on the circuit will always be tough.

Fuji GT 200

A few laps around this rather simplistic circuit is one thing, but maintaining focus and strength around the track is a whole other beast. The staggering 40 laps around this monster will definitely be a turning point in the hunt for the championship win.

Agip 300 km. at Monza

Monza is one of the most famed race tracks on the planet, being run by any series anyone can think of (other than NASCAR) at one point. This famous track will be tackled by 16 awesome race cars in a head-to-head battle of 30 laps as the championship title looms ever closer.

Laguna Seca presented by Mother's Polish

The GTPILMC makes its first and last visit to the U.S.A. in Season 1. The race is relatively short but no less exciting and dramatic, with 25 laps and 60 miles. Pure speed will be the key to success here.

Nurburgring GP/F presented by BMW Cars

This race is packed jam full of excitement: the near end of the season, the competition and rivalries, and, last of all, the longest race you'll see in the season, other than Le Mans. 30 grueling laps. This one is going to be an epic race.

Le Mans

The name "Le Mans" brings back so many memories, excitements, tragedies, names, faces, victories, and prestige to one educated racer's mind. So many have raced at Le Mans, and we can, too. There are 25 laps in this race as the season comes to a close in what can only be described as the biggest race in the world.

Classes and Cars

You need to know as far as car choices, there are only TWO copies of each car available at the start, and once one or more is taken away, I will list how many there are left.

Also, we have OFFICIALLY CHANGED prerequisites. During the pre-season race, you can drive ANY CAR YOU WANT. Drive with care (and speed), however, because your RANK (see Driver Resume and Rank for more details) will be either Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Copper (Gold being the best, Copper being the worst). Drive cleanly and carefully and you have a shot at the gold rank. Drive slowly and recklessly and you'll probably get a copper.

*I need some help on HP tuning on the Lotus Evora. Any ideas?

GTE AM
*Prerequisites = Copper Rank

Car Choices are the same as GTE Pro, EXCEPT that the car must be from 2008 or OLDER!

TRANSMISSION RESTRICTIONS

It doesn't matter exactly what your jetting is on your car, but the top speed must be 186 MPH on any GT car (everyone knows that even on La Sarthe, you get about 6 MPH slower than jetted) and 205 MPH on the LMPs.

Teams

Regarding the teams, which there will be, no doubt, I will come up with the names for yours (if you don't like them and want to change them P.M. me). Also, before teams are chosen, I want to get a full entry list going so it's sort of like an easy matching game when it comes to picking teammates. We want to keep things organized.

Etiquette on and off the track

  • No crass or suggestive words or behavior on text chat in rooms or on this forum - I'm picking about this matter and will report you
  • Keep your line if you are a GT car and an LMP car is going to overtake you
  • Be nice
  • Don't crash people out of your own frustration
  • DON'T WEAVE ON PACE LAPS! This can cause damage to your and other people's cars. I would no that given I have been fouled up before a race started.
  • Cutting the chicanes in minority is okay, but if I or a moderator sees excessive corner cutting, we'll take points off (see "points system" for more details)

Driver Resume

An important thing to note here is that every single incident you cause or good, classy moves you make or breaking of the rules goes on your driver's resume. So far, everyone's clean, but obviously there will be some incidents. If your drivers resume becomes too poor, you shall automatically be demoted to a lower class and have to wait till the time is right (I'll P.M. you - I respect your privacy - when you are allowed to continue in your original series). Here's an example of a driver resume... (these aren't my actually stats on my resume, of course)

sugarglider661's Driver Resume
Incidents caused: 1
Ranking: Bronze
Class: GTE Am
Wins: 2
DNFs: 1

RANKS

Ranks are basically how good of a driver you are. I promise there will be no friend favoritism here, just cold hard ranks. Your rank will be decided in the first race and it can change every 4 races (middle of the season). So drive smart and clean, you'll be fine. But anyone can drive anything they want for INDY PRESEASON, because its not for points but I will be taking a good close look at it for your ranks. I will rank MYSELF, too, but probably SILVER even if I drive GOLD so it doesn't look like I'm playing favorites.

POINTS SYSTEM AND STANDINGS

Penalization and points reduction include the following breaking of the rules...

  • Bad behavior or language or suggestive behavior in online room or on this thread
  • Swerving during pace lap
  • Not holding your line when an LMP driver comes through (if you are in GT)
  • Driving over-aggressively during the race
  • Endangering other cars with erratic driving

Also, GTE Pro and GTE Am are practically the same thing, and they'll race together, BUT they don't get ranked in the same standings.

Also, I'm not trying to copy and override any of your series. I'm trying to add to it in my own unique way.

FINAL NOTE: Despite the strictness of the rules, I would really like this to be a unique and peaceful series and not have to take these measures. I hope you all have fun if this series takes off and I would REALLY love if some people chose to participate.

NEXT RACE IS THE INDY PRE-SEASON RACE ON JUNE 25, 2011

PREREQS HAVE BEEN CHANGED! CHECK DRIVER RESUME AND RANKS FOR MORE DETAILS.

IF YOU HAVE OFFICIALLY POSTED EITHER YOUR SMALL OR LARGE INTEREST, I MUST KNOW BY SATURDAY (BY EITHER VISITOR MESSAGE/PM/OTHERWISE) IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED. IF YOU ARE, I NEED YOUR OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM BY SATURDAY AT THE LATEST.

RACE LENGTHS HAVE BEEN SHORTENED SLIGHTLY

Running four separate classes is great, but if it's only one event per week doesn't that mean that there will only be three other cars from your own class out there on track during a race?

I would like in LMP1.
PSN: posiloan
GTPlanet:Posimosh
Car: Audi R8 or R10 ( will decide depending on what others pick)
Team: Straight Edge Racers
Also, food for thought, you need to slow down both LMP1 and 2 to be true to life... If you don't want to go through the trouble to homoligate each car, you should make the specs more like this:
LMP1: 950kg 650hp and 700pp
LMP2: 980kg 591hp and 690pp
If you are going to make it somewhat true to life. However, as the pugeot and Audi both have over 900lb./ft of torque in that configuration without any turbo mods they will be way ahead on most tracks. Perhaps allowing the petrol cars to run lighter would be a good idea. anyhoo. I also have a capture card so I can record and post the races online if you wish. let me know!

Couple of questions:

a) How do you keep track of "online wins?"

b) why is that a prerequisite in the first place?

Well apparently Mitch is ratting on me before it even starts! Fine, I'll rethink that one part. Actually, check the first part, Mule, as I will have updated it.

Running four separate classes is great, but if it's only one event per week doesn't that mean that there will only be three other cars from your own class out there on track during a race?

I'm confused about this too, would it make more sense to run LMP 1 & 2 in one race and GTE in another race?

I would normally agree, but this is supposed to be based off the real thing, though. So I can't stretch the boundaries of the actual ILMC too much. Also, races have been moved to SATURDAYS at the same clock time.

I see what you mean in wanting it to be realistic but unfortunately the amount of cars on track limits this. I would say put me down but it would mean waking up at 3am every saturday and I can't do that. Good luck though! 👍

yeah i be interested in the LMP1.

Please tell me what is keeping you all back from entering this series.

The fact that there will only be 3 cars in each class. I can tell you that. P2 is a dying class and should not really be there anymore. GTE AM and Pro can be combined. It's not that hard to be "Pro" on a video game. Make a Prototype and a GTE class. You will have more interest with 9 in a class.

FYI: for GTE, most of the cars you have listed have way more HP than the real life GTE's. That too might be throwing it off. I want to race through traffic of slower cars, not race with slower cars. A lot Le Mans is about moving efficiently through traffic.

I'm on the verge of making some major changes here, and thanks, shiny48, for your imput. I'm thinking about running modified street cars (like Ferrari 458s and Gallardos and the like) instead of the Zondas, Dodge Viper Orecas, and old Corvettes. I think it is putting a lot of the interest off to race old cars such as these. I was thinking it would make it more realistic if we used real cars that have been in real races with real paint jobs, but I'm very much considering changing.

I have a small chance for joining but I would like to reserve a Ferrari 430 Scuderia. I won't be online till next week.

Sorry I haven't posted any more. I've been busy with other stuff.

I am somewhat Interested, however my Elise series hasn't confirmed when they'll be running, and Saturdays at 8 is a possibility.

If we don't go through with that, then I'll likely register with either the Corvette Z06, or the McLaren MP4-12C

I'm interested only if I can enter a lotus evora, I actually just came back from the real le mans and was surprised at how competitive they were
