I am also good with the date. It works well, as next week I will have two drafts taking place.
 
Now, if we can just get Twin Turbos and JFM, but Twin Turbos hasn't been on GTP in a week and JFM six days.


I may email them from the League site this afternoon.
 
OK, I have emailed them and I also made a roster change, allowing eight bench players.

With only six teams I figured we can afford it and it gives us a bit more flexibility to play with in the event of multiple injuries.
 
With only six teams, there are going to be some extremely stacked teams! I cannot even really imagine how good some of these teams will be. Well that is until after the draft.

Well, we have a few guys new to it so I left the teams small too without any flex positions. I figure after this season we can add to the roster and complexity.

As for stacked teams, tell me about it. I worked it out and if everyone went for two RBs to start we would look like the 1st round of Fantasyguru.com's draft and already filled an entire position. (Hint: I just gave the new guys a huge tip and resource right there.)
 
Well to be honest, this will be the first time I have actually participated in fantasy football. But the thing is, my dad has been playing for the past couple of years and he always comes to me for answers when he has questions about his teams, so I am very familiar with all of it. I already know the importance of various positions and all that. I also have a pretty good idea of how my draft strategy will go also. I also tend to keep up with the NFL and also keep up with the fantasy side of it, even though I had never played. :lol:

Looking forward to it, but still cannot wrap my head around how good all the teams should be.

This is the goal. That is why we call it fantasy.


Speaking of which, I decided to go and check out everyone's fantasy sports profiles when I emailed the other two and I seem to be the only person with this:

And I would not have anything either, as I have not participated in any fantasy football. Well at least now I know who I can lay into if I am doing badly. :lol:

One was the first year I ever played FFootball. I drafted all wrong and even though I had Mr. Alexander when he set the TD record, I managed to lose week after week.

The second year I drafted better but still had some trouble. I managed to make some good adjustments though and bring it up in the end.

I'm not sure how well I'll do in the GTPlanet league because I don't have time to really set up my draft list and tailor it to the league scoring. We'll see.
 
I have to confess, that trophy was my first year and I had Culpepper as a QB because all my other choices were taken. It was also the same year that he had multiple five touchdown games.

Otherwise, I had no clue what I was doing. Half my picks that year were fanboyism.


As for setting up your picks for this league: I started putting everything together in an organized form yesterday. I have a pretty spreadsheet with my picks listed in order of want, by round for position, although I only have my first two rounds laid out so far.

But to the side it has all the team bye weeks listed and color coded, so that as I add in players I color code them by bye weeks. That way when I copy and paste into my selected players list during the draft I can tell at a glance if I have a bye week conflict. It's very pretty.

This only works because we have a small roster and a small league. In my other league we have ten teams, 2 QBs, 3 WRs, 2 RBs, 2 TEs, 1 RB/WR, 2 Ks, 2 DEFs, and 10 bench. That draft is next Friday and will require research of many less talented players that aren't even on my If I Have No Other Choice list for this league.
 
I do not even have a list or anything set up, though I should probably do something, even though I have an idea of who I want, the direction I want to go, etc.

It's really just a matter of who you think will do well.

I always wait until last minute to decide who I want to pick because I hate the idea of seeing a player I think will be good getting passed over by everyone else, so I take him only to find out he blew a knee in practice or something.
 
We stil haven't heard from Twinturbos or JFM. If we don't get their confirmation do you all want to try to reschedule or just go ahead and let them get what they get?
 
The next weekend is going to be difficult for me, unless it is on the 25th, as I will have a draft on the 26th and another one on either the 24th or 26th. But if you want to go ahead and wait that is fine. I have no problem either way.
 
Well, we still have two other Fridays that I would be available for, August 31st and September 7th.

It is up to you, I have no problem moving the draft back if you think the other two would be willing to join.
 
OK, JFM is the only one not to confirm for tonight.

EDIT: Just read back through the thread and he was the one who first suggested the 17th. So, with that in mind I am very tempted to go ahead, but he wasn't on when we finally decided.
 
I personally would prefer to have eight teams in the league, but if you want to go ahead with the draft that is fine. It is also looking like the 24th will also now be open for me, along with the 25th.

Well, the 24th is my other draft and multiple people had issues on the 25th.

It occurs to me that all he needs is to register with GTPlanet and it can be still a GTP-only league.

Yeah, I think JFM will just get the automated pull from their ranking system, if he hasn't set up his own rankings yet, and since we are a small league he will still have all good players.

  4. JFM = 49er hater
  5. Centurion Eagles

And it snakes so Round 2 is
