Back by apparently some demand for 2025!

Here are the rules - and there are some small changes from 2024 of which you should be aware:

  • You have 13 Tokens from which you must select one of each of: DRIVER 1, DRIVER 2, CHASSIS, and ENGINE.
  • You may, over the course of the season, swap CHASSIS and ENGINE once apiece, and you have two DRIVER swaps (whether that's 1 and 2, or either twice).
  • Additionally, you have one JOKER swap, for swapping your entire lineup in one go only; when using it, the two DRIVER slots must be filled with two entirely new DRIVER selections.
  • You may enter or change your team lineup at any time during the season, but only entries received (by PM or post in this thread) before one hour ahead of race qualifying (not sprint qualifying) will be eligible to score in the subsequent Grand Prix.

Here's where it gets complicated:
  • Across the course of the season, I will adjust Token values at 1200 UK time on the Wednesday after every sixth race and hopefully tell people about it. Should your selection gain or lose value, your number of Tokens will increase or decrease accordingly; if you have a team worth 13 Tokens and its value drops to 12 Tokens, you will only have 12 Tokens available for any swaps you wish to make. It may be to your advantage to swap before a Token update if you suspect your team's value will fall...
  • With the exception of 5/6 there will always be four DRIVERS at each Token value, two CHASSIS at each Token value, and a maximum of one ENGINE at each Token value.
  • Token 6 will have only a maximum of one DRIVER, CHASSIS, and ENGINE, but may also not be used.
  • Should a driver miss a race for any reason and a replacement races in their stead, the replacement will score for that driver; note that this will apply if the replacement driver is one who already drives for another team except in the case of a full-time active driver transfer from another team wherein the driver continues to score for themselves in their new team and their replacement for themselves at the original team, with any driver leaving the grid scoring nothing until such time as they rejoin.

Here's how you score:
  • Only classified finishes will generate points
  • That doesn't include Sprint Races which are the spawn of the devil.
  • DRIVERS will score points according to their finish position; 1st place will score 20, 2nd will score 19, 3rd will score 18, and so on down to 20th which scores one point.
  • ENGINES will score points according to the mean of the best two finishes for each engine, with the same points system as above. If an ENGINE records a 1-2 finish, it therefore score 19.5 points.
  • CHASSIS will score points exclusively based on the Famine's Adjusted Constructor's Championship* (FACC). This is a simple ranking of each team's second-finishing car, using the current F1 points system from 25 for 1st down to 1 for 10th.

Here are the initial Token values; they are based on 2024 results (real, FACC, and GTPFF1):

@Famine can I get a little clarification on the new joker swap?

Does it mean I have to change both drivers, and chassis, and engine? Or is it allowed to only change some?
And if it's mandatory to swap all of them, let me get a loophole out of the way: would switching my driver 1 to the driver 2 slot and getting a new driver 1 constitute swapping both? 😂

Do I understand correctly that the joker is fully in addition to the regular swaps? I.e. can I swap drivers twice, swap engine once, swap chassis once, and then also do an entire joker swap?

Yes, you can use the Joker swap once and it can only be used to swap your entire line-up in one go. It's in addition to your other swaps, which you can do piece by piece if you want.

Hadn't considered the Driver 1 to Driver 2 notion, but no that wouldn't be okay. Maybe I need to edit that

What happens when the value of the something I've picked takes me over 13, can I swap out that part of my lineup and bring it back to 13 or under?

If the value of your pick goes up, that new value is now your budget. So your actual token budget can go up and down

So if I had a value of 19, I'd have to swap out the offending driver(s), chassis or engine and I'd only have 6 tokens to replace what needed replacing?

No. When the values change, you don't have to change your team at all!
You start with a team worth 13 tokens (or less if you want).
Say that through token changes, your team becomes worth 16 tokens. You now have a perfectly legal team worth 16 tokens. If you decide to change any driver/chassis/engine, you need to make sure that your team stays under 16 tokens in total.
The opposite can also happen. Say that your team value goes down to 10 tokens. Then you are not allowed to make a change to get back up to 13. You remain at only 10.
As stated in the rules above, the token values will change after every 6th race. So your team will likely move up and down in value a few times.

Basically any time you do a swap, just make sure that what you are swapping in has an equal value to what you are swapping out. You are never required to do a swap. You only do a swap when you want to.

You can, but you don't need to. If your team increases in value to 14 Tokens rather than 13, you have 14 Tokens available to you; if it decreases in value to 12, you have 12 Tokens available to you.

It's part of the game, really - if your team increases in Token value because a component increases in Token value, do you keep with it because they're scoring well or do you capitalise on it and switch to another one that you think will score better in the next stage? Or if you think they're going to lose value at the next Token update, do you get rid of a weaker component before it does so?

But you can only swap individual components once in a season (plus the new Joker which allows/requires a complete team swap), so timing any swap right is vital.

I understand now. I needed the clarification

I've update the first post with all the current entries - if you've been missed off (you shouldn't be; I've "Liked" all the entry posts as usual  ) then scream at me.

I'll make my selection later, but note that I won't be allowed to win even if I do because - among other things - I know what the Token changes will be before anyone else does since I'm making them
