That's so you can post an email address without "revealing" it to automated page-scrapers used by spammers. One off topic question. what is the point of the ":@:" smilie?
Generally once per year. GTPlanet's new redesign, GTP11, will be launched in a few weeks. I have to get the site over on new hardware before I can finish it, though. When does the site change in appearance/functionality anyway? Is it every few years or...?
No, I don't, the site is hosted at 111 8th Avenue in New York with Voxel.net, along with content delivery servers in Chicago, California, Amsterdam, and Hong Kong. I do all the server management remotely. You actually maintain a server room yourself? I'm surprised the site isn't on a commercial hosting site.

The general color scheme will remain the same, though a bit more refined. You'll just have to wait and see.Can you give us hints to what it looks like?
Black and red would look epic.
I believe you're referring to the time when I the hosting company I was using went out of business without warning, and the only way to get the site's data back was to essentially "buy" the server from data center which had it. Duke and several other users donated money to make this possible, otherwise it would have been lost forever. This was in 2004 and it was a real mess. Afterwards, I realized the site had to begin earning revenue so I could afford to host it with more reputable service providers.Didn't you once have to rush down to some data centre in Texas when the site suddenly went down due to a massive hardware failure? I seem to remember that happening a few years ago. Jordan to the rescue! 👍
As always I appreciate all that your putting into the site, thanks also for the maintenance heads up.
Robin.
That's a good problem to have! It's almost too fast now. My browser can't keep up!
Thanks, this issue should be fixed now.Hi Jordan--I think I may have found a problem. It seems I no longer have access to any of my photos here on GTP. At least, I can't view them anymore inside my albums--only the thumbnails.
