GTPlanet Nürburgring Hot Lap Board

It takes two, baby. It takes two.

:D

The 'Ring board is back! Accompanying our existing Lime Rock Board, this thread will track our community across the Green Hell. For now, we're leaving it as the dry, daytime version, though there is the chance to expand that into the new versions as well.

Rules:
  • The "Mod" system cannot be used (obviously).
  • All times must be leaderboard-clean. If that exclamation comes up, the run is dirty.
  • "Stock" means completely box-fresh. No tune changes, not even tire pressure.
  • You may submit as many times as you like, as often as you like.
  • If you've improved a time for an existing car, please make a new post about it.
  • In the event of a tie, the car with the lower PI will be placed further up the board. If the PI levels are identical, whichever time was posted first will be listed first.
  • We run on the honour system. If your time is reasonably challenged, however, please be ready (and able) to provide proof of the lap time.
  • Have fun!
Submissions:

New to FM6: Please include your HP and Weight in submissions!

Please post your times in the thread. If you've updated a particular car's time, post as a new post instead of editing - we might miss it otherwise! The submission format is as follows:

xx:xx.xxx - (Year) (Make) (Model) - xxx HP - xxxx LBS - (FF/FR/MR/RR/4WD) - PI - Username - Input Device

Please follow the formatting: colon and period in the right place for the time, spaces in the HP and LBS (along with all caps). Oh, and no comma in the weight!

If you'd like to go the extra step, you could save me some time and colour format them too:

X Class
P Class
R Class
S Class
A Class
B Class
C Class
D Class
E Class

Leaderboards:
A bold time represents the fastest time of a particular class.
An italic time, the fastest of a particular drivetrain.

One things for sure I'm going to be hounding you boys for tuning tips (that's if you don't mind)

I've not messed about with the tuning in a Forza game. But this one I'd like to experiment with stuff and get some knowledge under my belt. Always loved raving games of all kinds.. It's the challenge of Forzas driving(Motorsport) that keeps me coming back for more.. Always learning, always getting faster.

Not a problem, I've got a feeling a lot of people are going to have to get used to how to tune in this game compared to Forza 5 and Horizon 2.

What's different about tuning in Forza 6 compared to Forza 5?

Alright, well it looks like I'm first. I managed to get 4th place in the Americas on a standing lap  I imagine that will drop fairly far once the game hits shelves.

Interesting that what equates to 500 this game seems to be slightly slower than 500 in the previous game.

I haven't done a lap of the 'Ring yet in anything other than night or rain, so I'll try to get one soon. :)

That would be an accurate assessment Slip, I noticed the same thing with a B500 AE86. It should be as fast as the one I used in FM5, but it is slower in FM6. I am holding off on posting up any times for when I have my new logitech G920 wheel tomorrow, to which I will then post up a lap time in my AE86 on the controller, and one on the wheel for comparison. Something seems off to me in FM6 at the moment, and I think it is the diff settings. I have a feeling they might be bugged atm, which seems to fit from seeing what the D class Mini is currently doing.

Alright, just laid down a cautious 08:39.804 in my prize ND. It doesn't have the speed to catch the Llama Lambo, so might try the Boss next. :D

@ImaRobot @SlipZtrEm

Decided it was about time I had a time up on here after messing around with the new wheel yesterday, so just did this run in a D-class AE86. The included replay has the telemetry data up, so you can see the speeds around the corners. If you keep an eye on the "throttle", "brake", and "clutch". You will see that I was heel-toe shifter, as well as left foot braking when I didn't need to change gear. It is slower to shift properly in Forza by the way, much faster to use a button clutch and flat shift like on a control pad.

P.S Please ignore the gear crunch sounds when the camera is in cockpit view, it is a glitch with the game in that view.

@SlipZtrEm My entry for the weekly challenge on the Nords in the starter car.

Having lots of fun driving with a wheel again in Forza.

Car is modified, car is horrible . Actually quite fun after you get used to the unique handling.

Someone had to try it though... Right?

What a name that thing has

@ImaRobot Nice time with the Lambo Jalpa, very close to my AE86 time above. Very very close, lol. Looks like I may have to try and rework the tune a little on that car, and see if I can get anymore out of it on the ring in D-class. I have a feeling though, that it will be firmly on a wall in that regards.

What I noticed is that the Jalpa seems to have better braking, that and a slightly higher top speed so it really helped out on the straights. If I can squeeze any more out of it, it'll be only a little. Was a intense lap though, got my heart pounding!

Jalpa seems to have better braking

You will probably find it is less to do about the car braking better, and more to do with how both of us use the brakes. The AE86, by rights, should be better at braking. As the car is much much lighter, and I have race brakes on it. But my preferred braking style is early and soft, my aim is to keep the cars balance in check at all times. It allows me to take a decent speed around the corners, but also get a good run on the straights; as I often have less drama to deal with. I also get my gearing done before the corner, and use engine braking a lot.

My braking style while drifting however, is a complete polar opposite. As I will brake much harder and sharper to lessen the weight on the rear wheels, as I prefer to use weight shifting to initiate with. It is just what ever we get used to, and what we each feel is best for us.

I have been told I have a very strange driving style in Forza, though I don't know if that is true or not. I only really pay attention to someones driving style if I am actively trying to help them improve, or figure out why they are having issues with a particular car. Most times I find it is down to people braking too late and too hard, which causes them to understeer like crazy. and then have to resort to adding too much throttle to bring the back end around, to even pulling the hand brake if they are in a FWD car.

Ah yeah, I go in late and hard, but because of the car being MR it can be a bit useful as it can rotate the rear just enough, and while I throttle it will produce some understeer to straighten me out just in time to hit the apex. It's a double edged sword though, because like you said, it can definitely be a hindrance if you mess up just the slightest. This car is running the stock gear box, so the 5th gear is really long, but I usually try to keep 2nd and 3rd gear a little long, so that way I have room for acceleration without the interruption of switching gears early in the turn.

The stock gearbox works well on a lot of cars.

That's a damn good time  I tried it and managed a 7:56.1xx but snagged a wall so I gave up for the day. I'm not sure I'll be able to get another one in before the challenge is over, but it sure was intense!

Completely stock tyres and no aero make this quite exciting to drive, the suspension made the car feel quite floaty so it required constant steering inputs to correct that.
