It's an Exoto model of Gilles Villeneuve 1979 Ferrari. How good is that?

The main thing I noticed was the Viper GTS-R in the back ground,:drool::drool::drool::drool: I only have one in 1/43

PS: I know that comment was said about 7 or 8 years ago :D

I have the Autoart Xanavi GTR GT500 car sitting at my work desk....I had the option at the time to buy the bare carbon look one but the paintjob was too nice to pass up...
I'm gonna buy that too, now i have the R32 V-Spec II,R33 V-Spec,R34 R-Tune and R35, i will add the R35 GT500 and one more version of every other car. Other than skylines I have lots of 1/18 diecasts like C63, E92-93 M3's etc

They're usually too expensive for me to be able to justify buying, I might have to make an exception for the 787b though.

Being a collector i know that if autoart starts making these models you cannot expect them before 2012/2013. They aren't so fast with releasing new models.

But maybe because they already have the molds for these cars (it's only a different livery) we might see them earlier

My stupid iTouch thinks the links are phone numbers. :grumpy:

Me too. I would imagine them to be really pricey but will only be limited. I can see the eBay listings now "GT5 ultimate edition, includes signature edition package and 3 stealth 1/18 models. Current price $700, reserve not met. Buy it now $50,000... I bet people would still buy it though

Mission impossible to buy the TS020 brand new.
It is a fairly old scale model and it is doubtfull that someone will sell a brand new one.
Secondhand is the way to go, but then they are quite expensive.
I must say that I cherish my two TS020's 👍

My latest pictures.
I really love the carbon print on this Datsun :)

I am to lazy to take photo's of my NSX and R390GT testcar.
The Bugatti Atlantique form CMC and Pagani Zonda R from Autoart are on the way.
Tomorrow I will find de 599 GTO & xx from HW Elite in a box

Absolutely stunning! How much was that? I did a quick search on ebay and some sell it for USD150. Is this a bargain, considering how much Autoart charges for their new models?

$150 isn't expensive.
I bought my Nissan for 140 euro. Form that perspective, $150 is a nice price 👍

I recieved the HW Elite 599xx and 599GTO. Both nice models also :)

Supercharger, if those are your photographs I urge you to head over to the Photography section and compete in this competition. Some superb photographs you've got there! 👍

Mmm, sexy pics Supercharger666! :)

And now I ordered another model... A 1/18 scale Minichamps 1991 Audi V8 Quattro DTM #46, driven by Walter Rohrl. Pics when it arrives next week :D

^^ Wow that carbon fibre weave is amazing on the back. What is it a fake material, vinyl or something. That seriously looks amazing.

After looking at some of the models in this thread I finally talked myself into getting one.

While on a late Valentines shopping trip I called into a model shop and came across this little beauty...

It's my first time putting one of these together, any tips from you veterans to make this go as smoothly as possible? I think I've thrown myself in at the deep end with this one!

Take your time, don't rush it. Let things dry before moving on, whether its paint or glue. Stay even with your spray and don't try to force the paint to cover an area with one coat, use multiple if you have to or else it will come out horrible and you'll never be happy with it until spend 10x as long fixing it. Tape is your friend, especially with making straight lines/edges, don't trust your hand. Just make sure to peel it up as its starting to set (a few minutes after painting) to avoid popping or smearing the paint. A little glue goes a long way, so don't over due it, and as soon as you're done with it, put the cap back on...it'll save skin, furniture, paint, models, pets and anything else in the room from getting damaged (trust me, you wouldn't believe where the stuff can end up)...

The rest is just basic stuff, I'm sure others can add in the rest if they want. Its not a hard model to build, and from a decal stand point its not that hard looking from the pictures.

I did this model a few years ago, and you wouldn't believe how much solvent I had to use to get the decals to fit on the car properly...I think it was almost 6-8 hours of stretching/shrinking decals to make things fit...

Good luck, and keep us posted. 👍

What is the best way to paint these cars? I used to build models and painted them with brushes so of course the outside paint never came out how I liked it and I have really never used an air brush before. How skilled do you need to be to airbrush these things?

Instead of airbrushing, just pick up a can of spray paint from the hobby store. Tamiya makes the best paint that I've used, and its almost impossible to make it run. You can use the cheaper stuff, but just remember to use it smoothly and keep your coats light to keep the paint even.

I find airbrushing takes a lot of time with set up and clean up, plus you need a dedicated room/area for your model making (which not all people have). Its not hard to do, basically a lot of taping, painting, cleaning, taping, painting, cleaning, repeat until finished. It does give the best product, but for the average builder, its just more trouble than what its worth.

Excellent, thanks for the advice, and I'll post pictures of the finished product if it turns out anywhere near decent enough. That Peugeot looks brilliant by the way.

I have a few more questions regarding the building process if anyone could help answer them for me? (some/all of them probably have very obvious answers, but bear in mind, this is my very first time building one of these)

Do I need to primer everything before painting?

What tools do I use for attaching the smallest of pieces, the decals for the instrument panel for example?

Can I use acrylic paint with a paint brush to paint the small details like door handles, pedals etc. Or do I need to use special paint?

I'm sure there are more questions I will need answering somewhere down the line but these should he able to get me started for now.

Many thanks in advance.
