Cool, I might just have to get an even closer look (getting one) but I'll have to wait until I get the real one back to make sure there are no extra things to pay for

The Silvetstone colored E39. Arrived flawlessly and it's remarkably heavy!

Nice 👍 liking the sneak peak, but we need more :D

I've been looking for the Le Mans Blue version, not had any luck? Only one's i'm finding are Silverstone blue.

Ah, all the best with the issues on the real deal and keep us posted on there. 👍
If you can get an Otto E39 for retail price, you wont regret it either.

Thanks! Yeah the Lemans Blue is harder to find, out of production and people want to hold on to them.

Hi guys was thinking of getting this model of a Ferrari F40..had one exaclty the same when I was like 10 or 12..but looking at it now seems like a poor quailty die cast model car..

What do you guys recommend?:indiff:
For that price, the only reason I see to get it is nostalgia value. It costs more than double what my Spark Lola costs.

I was thinking the same:tup: I've been eyeing off a Kyosho 1:18 F40 at a local store near me for $130, it's got the normal wing on it, I'm not sure if its a good price can't find anything to compare it with?

Also grabbed this over the weekend for $157.50, local seller so I got to pick it up and saved on postage:D

The Le Mans Blue version is somewhat hard to find, but impossible for any reasonable amounts of money. I think it was even more limited in pieces than the Silverstone version, and I heard Otto had major quality issues with the large amount of the LMB M5, making a not too easy find already even harder to get.

Also, with the LMB M5 having been released a ways back, it's all sold out everywhere. The Silverstone one is brand new, and I expect a year from now, they'll be just as hard to find, though prices on them should be much less outrages.

Hey guys. I am thinking about picking up a 1/18 Spark toyota TS030. would you get Red or blue? (Leaning towards Blue) and is there anyone who would vouch for their R18 instead?

Ace

Blue #8 Buemi driven TS030, easy.

I'd get the R18 first just because I'm collecting Le Mans winning cars more over just any Le Mans model.

Now both of those are sweet deals, wish I could pick up V8sc's so easily!

Personally Id avoid any Kyosho products though because every single one I have (4) has very noticeable paint issues, and the Italian cars in particular have terribly crap paint rash AND chipping..

Never buying another Kyosho product.

Some of my favorite 1/18's of mine are Kyoshos. While their paint can be hit or miss, they still tend to be quite nice. I think I have around 20 Kyoshos now lol...

So what brand scale red Ferrari F40 would you get mate?:)

I'd go with Kyoshos honestly.. but pick one up off ebay. From a personal seller so you can be sure of the paint quality.

Kyosho's F40 is really the only accurate F40 in 1/18 scale. Sadly prices of them are much higher than when they were initially released. I had got mine for around $60 USD about 5 years ago or so.

Ironically Kyosho is the best choice for the F40. Just pick up one with good paint and look for signs of chipping or rash.

The 2 Ferraris I had were so bad you could scrape paint off with your nails once it chipped itself away, and it bubbled like a pot of boiling water, but that's just probably my foul luck.

I would say bad luck. I have about 10 kyoshos and haven't had any paint issues yet. :)

Alright, this is going to be a huge post, and I'm exhausted, so I'm going to split this into two posts and show more pictures then.

So I kind of binged and bought a few models over the past couple of weeks. First off, I bought this:

AutoArt BMW M635CSi E24 in Anthracite (Dealer Edition)

Rather than coming in a normal AutoArt box, it comes in a fancy gray box with the BMW logo and "Mobile Tradition" written on it. On the bottom is also a sticker that lists this item's BMW part number, as it's an official "Genuine BMW Part".

More pictures:

The model is very well done overall. The engine bay and interior are both very detailed, and seemed very accurate (at least from what I remember from the E24s I've sat in). The only negative thing is that the front license plate was taken off by the previous owner. It was included in the sale, so if I want to, I can just glue it back on. Otherwise, the quality is really good and there were no other visible flaws on the car, and I think I got it for a pretty good deal for this model.

Talking of Genuine BMW Parts, next up is this:

AutoArt BMW 635CSi Race Car 1986 Spa Winner in Genuine BMW Parts livery

I've always loved this livery. I think it's so cool for BMW to paint on the exterior a shadow/drawing of the various parts that would be in that place on a 635CSi road car. It's not just on the sides either, it's on all the exterior surfaces, so there are neat top down views of the engine and the interior.

However, I am extremely disappointed by the quality of the race car model. First, it seemed like it was poorly packaged by AutoArt; it's missing the protective sheet between the model and the styrofoam box. Then as soon as I took the model out, one of the rear taillights fell off. Then I was holding onto the model, and noticed the box that's supposed to be the gas tank on the bottom of the car isn't actually glued on. Then the wheels will barely roll, they won't turn without a heavy shove. Then the steering is messed up. It wants to keep turning right. It can't point straight when sitting normally, and the steering can't turn left more a couple of degrees. One of the wire-like things was unattached at one end on the bottom of the car, and there were some paint scuffing on the bottom of the car as well.

As much as I like the potential of this race car model, I'm trying to decide what I want to do with this, since the quality is so bad. Since I ordered it off a European website, I'm not sure how shipping it back for a replacement model would work (assuming that's even allowed). I'm real close to considering selling it, as it's that irritating. I've been reading on DX some recent AutoArt issues, but I've had really good luck with their older models in the past, but this really annoys me. If AutoArt is now Maisto quality, fine, but don't charge so much money for a model, charge Maisto prices.

Anyways, road car and race car:

Love that E24 street car! :D My neighbor has a 5 series of that era, totally original

And that race car, how did you pay? If it was PayPal then I'd open a case with them. You wouldn't think AutoArt sells their models like that, something must have happened...

Thanks. I did paid for the race car via PayPal. I think I'm going to contact the seller on Monday and see what he has to say before initiating any action on PayPal. It's too bad because I've always expected AutoArt to be really good quality, and the E24 street car reflected that expectation.

As I have mentioned in the past, I did also buy one of these:

Ottomobile BMW M5 (E39) in Silverstone

The model looks a lot better in real person than in the photos. In real life, it sits pretty right. The tires and wheels are still the wrong proportions, but other than that, model looks great, though the color seems a little too blue for Silverstone, and there are still inaccurate details on the model that I've detailed in the past. I'm happy to report that quality overall was good. There's a little bit of paint waviness on the one corner of the lower front bumper, and there's a little black streak of paint that somehow managed to run backwards on the driver's side of the Hofmeister Kink. I think the black streak can be buffed and polished out, but I don't have the equipment or know-how to do it, so I'll just leave it be...

I now have 2 Otto M5s (E34 and E39). I've resolved to collect all the M5s, AutoArt E28, Kyosho E60 and Paragon F10, now that I own a model of my favorite generation. Here's are some pictures of the E39 with the E34 together, along with the Otto E30 that I also own.

My BMW collection so far:

Crash I love the fact you found a non M3 E30 model, I want one!

Your Group A 635 is awesome as well.

Thanks, if you want to see more of it, my review of it is here, if you're interested in getting one.

Looks like both our Ottos are looking great, nice haul apart from the race 635

Indeed, still on the fence about whether you should have gotten the M5 or not? :D

Hey, I'm trying to upload pictures of my New stuff... but is it even possible to add attachments Using the GTPlanet app?

No, you cannot add photos or attachments directly to GTPlanet. You have to upload to something like Photobucket or Flickr, then link to the forum using the tags.
You can't make any contact with the seller if you want to open a case with PayPal, because you could fraud.
Really? Hmmm, I did not know that. That's good to know.
