A first-time brand for me, because I had never heard of it. However, by this very first time, I am already very impressed;

TSM Model 1:43 Chevrolet Corvette "Spirit Of Le Mans '76"

This car was a bit special for me; as I was traveling around the scale model stands at Autoclassico yesterday, I stopped at one of them to buy a 4-car set of Greenlight models (which can be seen in full on the 1:64 thread). As I was making my choice, the TSM caught my attention, but the price of 35 euros was clashing with my intentions of buying the Greenlight set as well, so I let it go and went back to the Greenlight section to pick the set. However, my parents, who were with me at the time, decided to play a little surprise on me and bought the car on my back while I wasn't looking. When we got back to our car after seeing it all, my parents gave me a black bag and told me "Consider this our birthday gift to you" (some may not know, but I had my birthday on September 30th, and I had not chosen any particular gift back then). I was simply ecstatic, and couldn't really believe my eyes when I say the TSM box peek out the bag. :D

Since I haven't heard of this brand before, is it any good? Does is anyone here familiar with it?
What a mad looking car. I'm jelly @Niku Driver HC

:D

Another first for me; someone being jelly of a car which I bought and not the opposite. There is a first time for everything, it seems...

Also, I apparently nailed a decent bargain; the car's price on the TSM website is 62€ (around $70 if you don't speak Euro), but mine went for 35€ instead. Not bad, eh?

For a TSM, that's an absolute steal. I see many of them above $100

As a Porschephile, of course this has to be in my collection. :P

I put the UT 993 on my watchlist not too long ago. Is it unreasonable to be paying $150+ for one for have they occasionally found for less (and where if I may add)?

In the box new, you'll be looking at $150 average, but I've seen them for closer to $175, at least on Ebay. Might be able to find one for less if it was opened, for example I nearly bought another UT 993 GT2 recently in silver because it was $75 on Ebay, but had a small paint chip on the front.

The UT 993 Carrera RS might be a little more expensive, but I haven't looked at those in a while.

I'll steal pry it off your cold, dead hands take the one on the right, please. If you can provide more than one, please do. :P

But seriously, despite the pricetag, that AA Alfa 4C has to be one of the best representations of the model on the market.

Very nice set of cars, quite a lot of LMP vehicles and general racing cars, but the average brand quality is quite good. The Mazda earns bonus points for its box, a very lovely way of recreating that famous Renown livery outside of the car. 👍

Haha, fair enough, guess I forgot to take other brands into account. Sometimes AA cars don't look as expensive as they seem to be, if you know of other brands which sell similar cars...

Also, holy Sarthe that's a metric truckload of beautiful Le Mans cars.
Are they mostly 1:18 models or 1:43 ones? Since I see the gorgeous Mazda Furai in there (one of your recent purchases, correct?), I'll say it's the second guess, but I could be wrong. Nevertheless, quite a lot of highlights in there; the SRT Viper GT3-R, the Furai, the Howmet TX...

1/43 indeed, as the bulk of them don't exist in 1/18 lol
There are also random touring cars and a lone WRC car thrown in for good measure. Didn't include my plain body race cars though lol

Haha, talk about a lack of offer regarding those cars in 1/18 size... What models do have 1/18 counterparts?
Also, at least the WRC and the "random touring cars" have a livery, so they fit the picture. Including plain body race cars wouldn't be so logical; after all, a plain body isn't really much of a livery, right?

But it gives you the chance to create your own liveries and as they test plan some people collect test cars.

Exactly lol
As far as cars that do have 1/18 versions that I am aware of...
Alfa 155 DTM (AUTOart & HPI)
Benz 500SEC (AUTOart)
Subaru Impreza WRC (AUTOart)
Porsche 997 RSR pair (Spark)
Ferrari 458 GTE (BBR & Hot Wheels Elite)
Cadillac Northstar LMP900 (Hot Wheels)
BMW M1 ProCar (Minichamps)
Peugeot 905 Evo 1 (Spark & Norev)
Benz CLK-DTM (Maisto)
BMW V12 LMR (Maisto & Kyosho)
McLaren F1 GTR Longtail (UT Models & Minichamps)
Lotus Elise GT1 (Chrono)
Chevy Corvette GS (Exoto)
Porsche 917 (AUTOart, Norev, Eagles Race)

Mind you many of the 1/18 versions are long out of production, with some commanding good chunks of money. Others are still fairly new (Minichamps McLarens for example). Some of the 1/43's are the same brands as their 1/18 versions, while others are not.

*EDIT*
Might do a plain body pic in a little bit lol...

Indeed, that is a valid point you make; people can always create custom liveries or match their car with a real-life livery which may not have a scale model counterpart, for example. And if there is a crowd for test cars, why not take advantage of it, correct? It's additional profit for the companies...

Exactly lol

Alright, thanks for the list. So it's a blend of relatively new models and out-of-production ones which will command quite the pricetag... It is interesting to see the brand variety for some cars however, gives you a perspective of which cars are more popular or not within the same spectrum.

I'm a bit irritated at some eBay sellers right now. I had bid on a model on eBay and had set a maximum price as it ended in the middle of the night for me and I wasn't going to be awake to watch it. In the end, I got "outbid" by someone with virtually no feedback. Fine, whatevs. But shortly after the auction ended, I got a message from the seller saying that the previous high bid has been retracted and I got a "second chance offer". Looking at the bid history as well as some of that retracted bidder's statistics, it's pretty suspicious that that account is used to do shill bidding. That retracted bidder repeatedly bid in order to drive it all the way up to the max that I put down, and that bidder has 20 retracted bids in the past 30 days and almost 40 in the past 60 days. Half of his bids ended up being retracted.

It's still a little better price than what I would typically see for that model, but I'm suspicious of the bidding process and I don't want to be suckered into what just feels fraudulent to me.

^ This is happening a lot, especially since they added the 'number watching' thing to the listing. If a seller sees a large amount of interest in an item, or only one person watching an item they will be tempted to shill bid as they are sure someone will really want it. eBay should have never told people how many are watching a given item.

If you suspect this I wouldn't buy the item, let it go and maybe the guy will list it again. You should stick to your original limit regardless.

I've been tempted to buy from eBay on numerous occasions, but I don't think I will have to now after learning of another web store that is based in Canada. International purchases have burned my wallet harder and harder as the CAD falls lower and lower.

Still have some money left...The Minichamps Porsche 908 looks quite tempting for less than 50€...or save those money for some more detailed model
