Does anyone have the 1:18 Otto Alpine A220 or a Funny Car Legends 1:18 model? I've been dreaming over these for awhile now.

It seems that the Nissan 2020 is a popular car to make scale models out of, did Kazunori have any hand in that, I wonder? Whatever the reason may be, we now have two different 1:43 Nissan 2020 models; the expensive resin one (Modeller's) and the cheaper die-cast one (Kyosho). Still, in terms of color choices, Kyosho and Modeller's models are a bit limited in comparison with Tomica's smaller 1:64 TLV NEO model, which comes in more lively colors such as red and purple...

Still, for those who simply can't afford Modeller's take on the car, Kyosho will fill that gap quite nicely if you so desire.

It seems that I'm feeling productive. It has been a month since the last report. While I working on the skirts, I thought I'd may as well share what the front grills are look for the time being.

Front_bumper_cut_10.JPG

The sharp corners will be filled in and the grill shapes will be smoothened out to be just a tad more organic. FYI that front lip is not final. The lip curving upward will stay as a contour, but the lip you see there is actually going to be the parallel to the side skirts. Or at least I'll try to make it so.

Here's what I did today:

WIP_July_27.jpg

Cleaned up the batter that is the crusty putty I laid out last time. I think I'm going to settle on this ground clearance now. What's left to do here is to draw out the shape of the extruded form which will be basically be like adding crown moulding.

WEWT! I finally got going on this again! It's almost been 5 months since the last update.

Here is what's new:

1) Redoing the front bumper, again!.

Shoutouts to @SVX and @Facebook for sharing a photo of a RX-7 with a Mazdaspeed A Spec Type I bumper. Thanks to that bloke, this bloke picked up this project again and is fairly engaged with it once more.

2) Lowering the boy even more.

lowered_front1.JPG

While reworking the front bumper, I found myself being annoyed at the fender gap-to-tire wall width ratio to be unpleasing, so I decided I will be reshaping the wheel well to actually look circular, tighten the fitment, and as an added bonus, lower the car. So far I have only lowered the front by shaving off bits of plastic via box cutter + open flame. Once the car sits more consistently, I'll determine if I need to lower the back as well.

I don't like how you can only get Decent Japanese cars in 1:18 only through Aa or Kyosho, where the prices have increased outrageously over the years. I really want an Aa EVO, but they're around 300$...:banghead:

Maisto Diablo SV, Jada GTR(original) You might remember that White SL500 from One of my interior details. Maisto S65 AMG, Minichamps SL500 90's, UT BMW Z4M Roadster, Maisto M6 Cabrio.

So far 37 1:18, 5 on the way. 2016 is going to be a good year for me.:cheers:

Oh yea, some recent premium converts, Maisto 996 Targa, Tan inteior, Tan Carpet, extra engine/chassis details(wires added to engine)

The Targa 996 is one of my fav porsches, so when i found this model at BJ's i had to have it, for 15$ it was a steal, as these fetch a pretty high price online, Now you know with all maisto and budget cars i tare them apart and turn them into premium models, so here is the finished product, before the interior was pure black and the engine had no detail...it was extrememly bland. but now....

Looks like you are not the only one who has had its collection grow over the past year; today marked a very important date in my life as a scale model collector, all thanks to two simple cars. They both came from the same benefactor, the person who had also given me the Alpine VGT model by Norev and cousin of my grandmother, but these two carry even more meaning. Number 1 is this;

1:43 Peugeot 308 GTi (Rouge Ultimate) by Norev:

SAM_1199.JPG

Say what you will about Peugeot as a brand, but the new 308 is pretty enough to warrant "beautiful car design" status, I dare say. While this wasn't the color variation that I had in mind (call me insane and/or tasteless, but I wanted the two-tone Coupe Franche version), it does not detract anything from the fine work Norev put into the car. The detailing is fine and exquisite, even going as far as to mimick the red inserts on the gear shift lever (even though people may not look to the inside of the car most of the time). Everything else is spot on; proportions, color, amd wheels all get an A for both effort and quality. I may be somewhat biased, as a Peugeot fan, but this 308 hits all the marks. Now if only Peugeot created a SW version of the GTi...

Oh, but you may be asking "Well, you spoke of "two things", what's the other?" And do not worry, I'm getting to that; you see, over the past few months I had a personal quest, the quest of finding a specific scale model of a certain Italian car. I tried smaller scales, with Siku, but the results were simply not showing up. And so, after slipping in a word to my grandmother's cousin, not expecting such word to result in an actual present for me, that quest has finally been fullfilled. Although it wasn't the brand I was expecting (again, perhaps due to lack of availability or money in her side of things), it ended up being everything I wanted and more. Ladies and gents, without further ado, the answer ot my "prayers";

1:18 Alfa Romeo 4C by BBR Top Marques!!!

SAM_1214.JPG

Yes, at long last, I have finally acquired a scale model of the Alfa Romeo 4C, one of my all-time favorite cars in terms of modern car design. And my pictures simply cannot do this car justice; it's a gorgeous gal, and the black rims only make her look more menacing and beautiful. It is my very first BBR model car, but be sure of this, I am more than impressed with it. Resin cars are indeed something else in terms of quality, but they definitely show why their prices are higher than your usual 1:18 scale model. Or at least that's the impression I get from this car, if anything...
But no matter; I finally have a 4C, which is not only beautiful but also my very first 1:18 resin scale model and made in Italy. It's like the Sistine Chapel trifecta, people, and I nailed it! This car will be cherished as long as I can breath well enough to display it properly...

Oh, and since it's very unlikely that I'll get any newer models for the time being, it's time for my 2015 Scale Model New Additions Family picture;
SAM_1216.JPG

Oh right, I did buy other cars, I almost forgot. :sly:
SAM_1217.JPG

Two Peugeot GTIs from very different times, my very first Vision Gran Turismo model, and my first two ventures into the world of resin scale models. 2015, you get my 👍 of approval. May 2016 bring even more pretty steeds for my stable...

Well, just in case you weren't fully sure of this release's veracity, here is the official press release;

Shame about the limited color choice (again)... Why are 1:43 models of the 2020 so reluctant to add more colors to their repertoire?
