$270 if you're still interested.

About 98 to be made, aka very rare.

Ok so I've just received a Minichamps MP4/8 1:18, the thing was listed as "new" and "never came out of the box".
This one above is the listing photo, as you can se, except from the dirty box, it looks fine and fits the description.
The model is in overall good conditions, but it has lots of dirt on it, tyres have collected lots of dust and dirt, decals are slightly yellow-ish (I've even done the unboxing, from the camera you can't really tell).
When you pull out the model, the plastic part of the box comes out and the screws are CLEARLY used, hinting that the model has been out of his box sometimes.
The cost was 70€, I'm not completely disappointed with the purchase but the seller was not 100% honest, what do you guys suggest?

It's not very good form to lie. I have a Veyron up for sale at the minute that has a small part of the rear emblem missing and I've been totally honest, despite it rarely leaving its box in the 9 years I've owned it. As such, I listed it as used.

indeed, despite the listing, the model is CLEARLY used, it's fine and I would like to keep it but not for the price I've paid and even if it's a bargain, I bough a NEW model not a used one.

Can you contact the seller and ask for a partial refund? Perhaps the seller would be nice enough to do that since the item is clearly used and he/ she wasn't honest about it.

Similar situation happened to me with a model I bought off ebay. Car was listed as new, but arrived in bad shape and was clearly used. Because it was a misleading listing, ebay backed me and I was able to get a partial refund.

I'm having some problems with the eBay message board, can't contact the seller, I was asking for 10€ of partial refound but I'm unable to send the message

Try not to ask for the refund right away as that can come off as you looking too whiny and finding the most mundane reasons to rip off the seller, and the seller may look for excuses to not give you anything back.

What I like doing is letting him/her know that when listing an item as "New" on ebay, it means the item has never been opened and it's undamaged, and that you found this was not the case. Instead of offering the resolution, ask them what they can do about it. This puts the pressure on them as now they are obliged to come up with a resolution that should satisfy you, which to them may not even be 10 Euros; heck it may be more! If he happens to ask that you return it, then I would propose a partial refund.

Edit:

You like AUTOart, and you like tuners, but do you like it enough to drop $700 for this? how much of a loan would you take out to buy this?

Edit: I probably misread an unsourced article. Scratch my numbers. Sorry!

Ended up like "will send you a partial refund of 20€ asap", despite it was it's fault he was very cooperative and I feel kinda bad about this not-so-happy sale, looks like he's a godd person after all. :indiff:

p.s.

700$ for that thing :scared:

I would rather buy 35 1:64 scale cars... Each for an average price of $20.
Or I could buy 350 Hot Wheels cars.

$700? Am I missing something?
Probably, because I am too.

DS says that, they never credit their source, though it could be insider info. In any case, AA would have to do something as amazing as the Zonda Revolucion to even ask that amount; opening bonnet with high amounts of engine details.

Now you mentioned DS, I went to their website and had a read, the 700 dollar mark is for that diecast 993 RWB made by some Beijing-base company that we never heard of. I believe the original price of the 993 is 475 USD.

While I wait for a couple new 1/18 resin models to arrive <____<

Also I most likely will end up with that AA Lotus 99T...

Also on the "buy" list, this is from TrueScale, the Berger version will do the job with no problems :sly:
brabham-bmw-bt52b-ayrton-senna-test-1983-1-18-[2]-21424-p[ekm]750x420[ekm].jpg

And this Brabham that looks so darn cool!

1:18 F1 so far:

Ferrari 312 T4 Villeneuve (Exoto)
Ferrari 641/2 Prost (Exoto)
McLaren Mp4/8 Hakkinen (Minichamps)
Benetton B191 Schumacher (Minichamps)
Ferrari F2002 Schumacher (Hot Wheels)
Williams FW18 Villeneuve (Onyx)
Jordan 191 Schumacher (Minichamps) (Shipped)

Quite modest for now compared to some collectors but I'm proud of it :P

Can buy only 2 of them for now and I can't find the Senna version of the Lotus 99T so...ehm...Brabham and McLaren?

The Brabham is a great little model, it is my 2nd favorite F1 in my tiny F1 collection lol. I thought about getting the TSM McLarens, but I heard they are very fragile and a lot of them arrived with QC issues. I still sorta want one though...

I've heard also that some TSM models have tyre issues, they start melting if kept inside the cases...ehm...what??? :scared:

Yeah, but who's to say the humidity, temperature and other external forces in their household weren't accounted for? In other words, what if the people claiming such a disaster weren't properly caring for their goods and that they don't live in the same weather conditions as yourself?

That was only on the Tyrrell P34 IIRC. TSM ended up sending people replacement tires and wheels I believe. The recent resin McLarens were the ones with lots of QC issues apparently. Yes, those McLarens are opening resin models lol

And it's highly unlikely that TSM will make anymore resin open models.

They should have just stuck with diecast in the first place lol. Well, ABS would have been OK, as long as the detail is there and it isn't fragile. Though, I am pretty sure AA is the only one currently doing ABS 1/18 models.

Speaking of diecast, if you go on tomotorsports, they have some TSMs on sale for a pretty good price. I just placed an order on that yellow/green McLaren F1 (opening diecast) for $190 CAD. CAD, guys.

There's also that black Porsche 935 for $180 which was extremely tempting.

IT's a special pricing they secured, but you need to order by the 26th... so there's two days left.

Hey, Lego cars matter.

The #51 is infamous for its uneven paint. Hopefully yours will be OK.

You just hit me with a ton of bricks with that one. I have an Autoart F1 Stealth I was going to get rid of once this one arrived. Now what am I going to do with this if it arrived like turd? :/

You can cancel the order tomorrow or pray for a problem free model.

QC issues aside, I think the TSM F1s beat the crap out of AA in terms of details. Here is my F1 LM XP1:

Tecnically the best way to store a model should be keeping it in the original box but there was this guy, about the TSM McLaren who said something like "you should keep the car out of the box to prevent tyre melting".
And I had nightmares about my model cars having the same issue :scared:

The TSM McLarens are getting massive sales on eBay, it looks like it's a risky model to buy despite it looks so cool...I mean, resin with opening parts... :irked:

Speaking of real nightmares I broke the towing hook on the Lancia LC2, I've used a surgical amount of Loctite Super Glue with a quite successful result but still, I feel bad for what happened to this model...:(
