While I would have been more excited if they had modeled the white version of the car I am still happy that I bought this one.
Nice! Look out on CK-Modelcars, they sometimes get an alternate color on the GT Spirit models. Never know, could be white.

Speaking of GT Spirit, I got my 993 GT2 yesterday and I'm honestly not too happy with it. It made it passed quality control with some scuffs and fingerprints that seem to be under a layer of clear coat, so they aren't wiping off anytime soon. It's also a lot darker blue than I thought it would be and looks black (just like their 964 Turbo). I'll get pictures soon.

This isn't a 911! Instead, it's a friggin gorgeous Kyosho F40. I may collect only 911s in 1/18 scale, but I had to have this. Sorry for the crappy pictures, I'll get better ones another time.

Man, the box got all finger printy quick...

But here is a 911 I also got, GT Spirit 993 GT2. It's supposed to be dark blue, but I think it's too dark. Oh well, still nice.

And all 3 of my 993 GT2s.

Resins ain't THAT new, as garage built 1/43 resins have been around since at least the early 1990's. :P
Mass produced resins like GT Spirits, Sparks, and Ottos on the other hand are fairly new, as before those brands most resins were from the likes of BBR and MR and usually in 1/43. I personally haven't heard of old BBR's having any issues, as they probably use a rather stable resin. And like diecast models, they should be kept away from heat and humidity because that will ruin paint, diecast or resin.
Anyway a couple new GT Spirits:

Few more pics, will take more this weekend hopefully:

Wow that f40 looks outstanding!

The high end version of the Kyosho F40 is diecast with normal Kyosho box/packaging.

The one Philly bought is one of the TWO Kyosho branded resin F40s, this is produced by Mark43. The other one coming up will be made by Ignition Model.

Thanks, that clears things up! Was actually having trouble figuring out what Kyosho put out, I assumed they were all resin, but again, I don't know much about the brand. I suppose that explains the wide price range on Ebay for some of them.

I had all of my work term to do stuff, but I gave into daily distractions 98% of the time (youtube and video games).

Front_bumper_sculpt_6.JPG

Stuck some plastic on the not-really-a splitter to give the front some detail without succumbing to canards.

diffuser_1.jpg

Cutting the shape for the diffuser had proven to be tricky for the casting's body was not perfectly symmetrical (great job, Motormax). But after shaving off the stock lip, I stuck a layer of styrene to form the foundation. Another piece will go on top of this.

Yeah, small update. Next I'll have to figure out how I can mimic Rocket Bunny's rear diffuser. I'm sure that's going to set me back another 4 months

10 months later:

Woot, it's back again. I've only glued the one piece of styrene to the bumper I meant to do many months ago. I did end up trimming off the sides, but I'm looking into adding a Rocket Bunny panel on the back quarter.....

which I'm doing right meow:

Kinda "tall". It is flush with the side skirt on both the top and bottom edges...

maybe I'll trim off 1mm from the bottom just so the back end isn't sitting as low.

This is how the relationship between the wing plays out so far:

I like the "Blood Splatter Graffitti" paint, it's a unique touch. Same goes for the "1980 + sign" rims, this is such a bold recreation...

Joke aside, it's AA, it's bound to be very impressive and VERY expensive. Those who can afford are sure to have a great model in their hands, but that list might be very limited...

Too bad it will be made in Composite, not Diecast. :grumpy:

I don't care about that, anyway. As long as I got the holiest grail of Porsches (the Blackbird), then I'm happy with that particular 1:18 and promised myself not to buy models of that scale anymore.

Hah that's what I said about my Shelby Cobra like 4 years ago.

Given their recent track record, it's going to be expensive for sure. But quality wise it will be highly questionable.

I suppose it explains the lack of hype for the car here, if anything. AA has been delivering expensive products with failed quality control lately, and the trained eye demands more...

Since AA has also demanded more in terms of ye ol'wallet, no less.

That axle actually rotates with the wheels! 🤬

There's so much stuff to look at!

It is also the most frightening model I've ever had to hold. Always feels like something is going to break off every time I have to pick it up.

Exotos do tend to be fragile. Dunno why, but CMC's seem to be more handling friendly. Granted, I don't have an Exoto fancier than the 934, so it could be different. And I will probably never buy another Exoto, due to the completely absurd price many Exotos go for (namely the "XS" ones). Now, if someone gave me a good deal on a Sauber C9, Nissan R89C, or GT40 MKII, I probably wouldn't pass it up....

Awesome! I have to admit, I like the diecast version a bit more. That's a beauty with the opening bits.

Speaking of F40s, there may be a BBR F40 LM in my future.

Also, coming soon from GT Spirit:

Resin(D&G, BBR, Mark/Kyosho, Ignition Model/Kyosho) versions still have better paint and proportion. I have the Ignition Model on preorder, that would be my ultimate F40.

So I heard the GS Model Huracan will be released soon. I'm stoked to see how this chameleon purple looks in the flesh.

I recall someone saying that BBR screwed something up about that car. Not the model-making or materials, but getting the accuracy correct or something.

I think you should put your money on Ignition.
