While visiting my mom, I looked at a few models i had packed up there, and had the same feels I have when getting a new model. I think I'm gonna grab around 6-8 to bring back with me, because I miss a lot of my other models so much...
Also will probably buy a couple more of those clear display cases after I move into a different apartment. Must have EVERYTHING protected from dust weeee

I'm surprised no one has been talking about this diecast model.

I've been thinking about getting more of the 12-car display acrylic cases myself (the 2 I already have were shipped broken), but I would need 5 of them to fit my cars and that's gonna be expensive. So right now all my cars are in their boxes under a cover in a corner of my apartment. I'd love to display them on cheaper open shelving but dust man.

What's the point of collecting these models if you can't even see them?

And to that question, you're either going to move forward on displaying them with respectable presentation.... or you sell them off and do something more meaningful with your money. :)

My 6 display cases arrived. If you care whether you can clearly see your cars through the case, I do not recommend the ones I bought. The acrylic didn't come out clear on the inside. it's got uneven distribution during the injection molding process causing what will look like waves inside, ultimately distorting the view at a very fine level.

At a distance, it's not noticeable. If you got terrible eye-sight, it's not noticeable. If you start reading the "Castrol" off the side panel off the car, you'll notice it.

See? Can't see jack. Cars come out darker too. Bad product -4/10 would return again.

Jokes. Camera photo , 200 ISO. I did wander to IKEA to look at wall shelving solutions, but I fear I may clutter too much wall if I start doing that. For now, I'll have it on the end of the desk. I picked out the top 4 as they were some of my forgotten models which I felt I should look at some more, especially the top 2.
MSZ
It has steerable wheels. Other than that, GT Spirit is better in money to quality ratio.

Are those headlights too big?

I was really tempted by this because of how appealing that pastel blue looks with that orange, but I'm glad you shared your thoughts on it. Thank you for taking one for the team. 👍 :sly: 👍

The headlights looked fine. In fact I think they nailed the overall proportion of the Singer perfectly compare to GTS.

But GTS is much much cheaper. Cult Scale is basically asking Spark money for an Otto quality model. I guess all the development money went to the steering front wheel mechanism so we have to pay for it.

Apparently an IS300 Sportcross/Altezza Gita model exists! Someone in the owners group found one on Yahoo Japan auctions. Wondering if anyone could possibly keep an eye out if they find one. I'm guessing it must be a dealership display model or something.

I know you're all about Lexus wagons and stuff, but those partly-existent door handles are a bit of a let down.

Some of my latest purchases. Got this red UT GT2 for $40 on ebay and it's nearly flawless. Not bad considering it usually goes in the hundreds even used. Also, does the plate on the blue one look crooked to anyone else? I suppose they got lazy at the end of production, since it is the last one off the line #300 of 300.

And this Riviera Blue beauty. GT Spirit 991 GT3 RS. Will go nicely alongside my Birch Green Spark 991 RS.

You know, I want to see a detailed comparison between the Spark RS and the GTS one.
I can probably do that sometime, I definitely want to get pics of them together. Despite being 1/3 of the price, I think I like the GTS one better already.

As I was scrolling through the first pic, I was like "wait isn't this the guy who's got a thing for the Discos?", and then I got to the last pic.

Are you going to be our local Disco Volante guy?

I didn't even know Maisto made race cars, not bad.

Got this Spark GT2 RS, which is super nice. Gonna have to take it off its base sometime for better pics, but that's a real pain in the arse so another time.

Also got this silver UT Models GT2 to round out my 993 GT2 collection, but it is a pile of crap. The seller claimed it was "like new" but up close it has dings, dents, makings and paint bubbles. Not happy.

You must have deep pockets. My combined collection of 1:64 model cars (excluding mainline Hot Wheels) is smaller than your 1:18 collection... Clearly I'm poor.

lol, not so much as deep pockets, but more so the fact that I have been collecting since 1997. Though, the oldest model in that pic is probably the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is an AUTOart that I got sometime around 2001-2002-ish. That group of pics shows just under half of my 1/18 collection, with the rest being packed away at my mom's house. Will be bringing at least another 10-20 models back here next time I go visit her.
Anyway some quick pics I took from my balcony at sunrise:
