So I thought it's about time I start posting on this thread :D
Here's my latest addition to the VW 1/43 scale models collection I've been buying for the past 2 years (almost...):
20241121_164545.jpg

This is an official, licensed by VW, collection made up of 70 of the most influential/iconic models of the german brand, and every scale model comes with an article which further explains the model's history and details, as well as the history of VW itself and its numerous brands that make VW Group.

A few quick facts about this New Beetle RSi:
  • Prodution was limited to just 250 units
  • It's all-wheel-drive (4Motion system)
  • Engine is the famous VR6 which was used in many other high performance models of the group like the Corrado, R32, TT and A3 (Audi), producing 224 hp
  • Almost all of the models were painted in metallic silver, and only a handful were painted in blue

This was scale model nº53 of 70, so I'm already more than halfway through the collection, here's a quick picture of what I have (zoom in and see if you can recognize some models!)

ATM I have them all on top of each other like that, but I want to display them properly once the collection is complete, I already bought some glass shelves and everything... it's gonna look pretty nice in the end!

I might just come here and post a few more pictures of these when I get the time, there's some really hard-to-find models in there... in the meantime, happy collecting guys! :dopey:

Pardon the ultra low quality photos, I'll take better pics soon.

Grabbed my first 1/12 model with a steep discount. It's a 964 Turbo S Leichtbau in Amethyst Metallic from GT Spirit. Here it is with my large cat. I like it so much I got another 1/12 on the way... and not a Porsche for once.

Has neat pink/purple seats for the interior and blue steering wheel and seat belts. Very unique, for sure.

Figured I could get some good pics of this model while on Thanksgiving vacation:

The lines on that thing, damn that looks sexy!!
Nice photos by the way, I also have a scale model of a CLK GTR LM but it's slightly different (1998 model), about the same size as yours but mine is definitely not looking as good as that one!

I have it buried somewhere around the attic, might try to find it... but first I need some masks and a flashlight to deal with all the dust and spider webs 🤣

The only 1/12 I have is the Renault Espace F1, but that's because I missed the first time around when they released it in 1/18.

I was so bummed for missing out the 1/18 version by a hair, so I forced myself to get the 1/12.

I find the 1/12 too big and is awkward to display.

My crib is not big enough, otherwise all my models would be in 1/12 lol

Another entry to my ever growing VW 1/43 Collection, this time it's the Volkswagen Lupo:

1000000911.jpg

Every once in a while, I still see some of these cars roaming around, they're still out there!

One of the smallest vehicles ever produced by VW, with just over 3,5 meters in length.

Amongst many different versions, was the lighter and lower "3L" version, which had a 3-cylinder diesel engine which, allegedly, was capable of a fuel consumption of just 2,99 l /100km which was unheard of by the time it was produced. Aluminum and magnesium was used in that version to keep the thing light.

Also, the name "Lupo" actually means "wolf" which obviously is the first thing that comes to mind when you look at this car lol
Seriously, it's called "wolf" because it was produced at the Wolfsburg factory in Germany.

Ok, enough history for today... 😅

Viper GTS is simply one of the best cars ever made. Simple as.

Other big models I have include...

Bugatti EB110, Porsche Boxster, Lamborghini Countach/Miura, Chevrolet Camaro Z28 60s as well as a Ferrari 512, and two formulas, Ferrari F300 and Williams FW14, to name the most important ones.

Most are by Burago.

I had a Viper GTS like that from Maisto as a kid, probably over 25 years ago. Managed to (very much to my surprise) find it in a box in my parent's basement a few weeks ago.

Mine is a Burago. It actually wasn't a purchase I intended to make, but one found its way to me through a flea market.

And usually there's always something to complain about, but to my delight this unit is mint!

Dude, I also have a blue Viper and a Diablo just like those on the photo, same size and everything!
Nice stuff 👍

Similar for me too - my first 1:18 was a yellow Bburago Diablo just like @SPhilli911's, but with a spoiler. My second was a red Viper RT/10, also Bburago. Both featured in post #8 of this very thread:

I've got 7 and a half so far:

A yellow Lambo Diablo
A red Dodge Viper RT10
A silver Beetle RSI
A yellow Saleen S7
A dark grey Jaguar E-type
A grey Shelby GT500
and a 1:16 scale Mini Cooper (1961).

All are Bburago except the Shelby and the Saleen.

The half is a BMW 328i convertible that I found on a road. I think it was run over by a real car.
That was 21 years ago :scared:

This is very cool... and crazy how time flies. Guess the Viper and Diablo were the models to have back then.

I still vividly remember receiving the models as gifts. Finding out that we still have them is a flashback. Sadly, my first model (a Le Mans Blue Jaguar XJ220 from Maisto) was not among the models found. It's a miracle any survived so long considering they were stored like this:

Yes... every time I see these scale models from Bburago and Maisto it immediately reminds me of my childhood, spending countless hours playing with those cars around the house 🥲

When I was a kid I remember annoying the cr@p out of my dad's just to convince him to buy me yet another scale model haha it happened every time we went shopping for groceries and stuff... most of them were small (1/64).

He would always state something like: "... but you already have HUNDRENDS of them!!
And my answer to him was: "... well yeah, but I still don't have this one so... please?"

🤣
Wish I could go back to those days...

EDIT: just noticed the white Corvette, I also have a C5 but it's convertible.
