A few more...

Last year saw Down At Dawn issue a pressing of “Black Christ Of The Andes” by Mary Lou Williams. As soon as I heard it I fell in love with it’s golspal and jazz combination. So this year the Smithsonian released a copy under their non-profit lable Smithsonian Folkway Records. It’s a replica of the original pressing and sleeve. It’s a beaut and sounds sublime.

I didn’t pick up this Dead Can Dance album at release. I’m not sure why because it’s brilliant. It’s just a little short.

I’m missing the first record in this series, but Bibio is a force to be reckoned with and this 2 track EP is beautiful.

I may have went a little over my usual budget at the record store this month. I also wound up focusing on my metal collection.

Overkill - White Devil Armory (picture disc)
Overkill - The Grinding Wheel (yellow/black vinyl)
Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark

My vinyl collection in general is too numerous to list, have everything from Bach to Led Zepplin. But off the top of my head, in no particular order, hear are some of my favorites:

Bob Dylan- Desire - Blood on the Tracks (180g) - Blonde on Blonde
Van Morrison- Moondance - Astral Weeks - Into the Music
Nick Drake- Pink Moon - Bryter Layter - Five Leaves Left (all 180g)
John Martyn- Solid Air -Bless the Weather
Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever
Led Zepplin - III
Bob Marley and the Wailers - Kaya
Odetta - Sings Ballads and Blues
Eric Clapton - 461 Ocean Blvd (180g)
Paul Butterfield and the Butterfield Blues Band (self titled)
Johnny Winter and Live

You get the idea....

I’d totally forgotten I’d picked up Pye Corner Audio’s latest LP.

Can’t say I was fully struck on this one. Compare to his previous records it just seemed like a step to a lighter side of electronic sounds.

I've been waiting 4 years for a new Apparat album, so I pre-ordered the pink vinyl which is a limited run only available direct from the label.

Very happy bunny. :D

Nearly pulled the trigger on this too. Had to hold back as I have picked up a few records recently and had other cash commitments.

Signed edition of a truly beautiful record. It’s the deluxe edition with booklet and DVD of the concert. It also came with a signed print as I ordered direct from Beth Gibbons.

Picked up another LP. The second part of Heritage by Mark de Clive-Lowe. Excellent Japanese twisted Jazz Electonica.

Here is it with its two siblings. The first LP and a Japanese only double CD.

While not a record I also picked up this tape. It’s a field recording of Shenzhen & Shanghai. I have tape 2 in the series and keeping my eyes open for tape 1.

Oh hey, Colonel Bagshot. 👍

:P

Edit: And now my head is filled with a discordant mix of beeps, clicks and tones that may or may not be an accurate representation of Autobahn. I guess I need to put it on.

Anyone pick up some RSD items?

I managed to get 3 of 4

I picked up the new Fold LP. They’re a Leeds jazz, funk, electronic group. This is an unofficial RSD item and they released an Orange pressing on the day.

Resonance Records put out two LPs which I wanted both. One was Bill Evans in the UK which I missed out on so far. The other was a brill Wes Montgomery double LP. Pressed at RTI and sourced direct from the Mono Tapes and put through a fully analogue process sounds wonderful.

Last but not least is this hard hitting synthwave album from Deadly Avenger and a companion to their last album. Based around Godzilla.

It comes with 3D glasses and the sleeve along with an insert are in 3D.

I hit a couple spots but only walked away with a handful of things; nothing particularly special (apart from a decent deal thanks to RSD discounts) and no vinyl.

I did get to stuff my face with a tasty grilled chicken sandwich and garlic fries from a food truck parked outside one store though.

Picked up a record which is super tricky to get in good condition and expensive if you do find one worth buying.

My local shop posted up this had come in. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. It’s been on my want list for some time.

So scouring my collection I found that one of the rare records I own (45 copies only world wide) is for sale on Discogs and the seller wants this....

It’s just crazy to ask for this amount. Yes it’s rare (possibly even more so as it was released to used by DJs so some may have been wrecked beyond any use and worthwhile condition) but €10,000 is madness.

"I'm not in a hurry to sell this so if I can find a sucker that would be great thanks"

65 Days Of Static found a few copies of this release from 2011 and put them up on Bandcamp. It’s a score written for the 70s film Silent Running. Sci-fi Post Rock bliss.

My monthly haul.

20190503_192654.jpg

Tool - Lateralus
The Temptations - All Directions (Includes the full "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone", which is one of my favorite songs of all time)
The Eagles - Desperado

Another record arrived. The highly anticipated album from Shafiq Husayn.

This is the limited (200 copies WW) white label edition. Comes with plain sleeve and sticker label. It also comes with a print of the inner gatefold of the standard release which comes out later this month.

The amount of people involved over the years on this LP is insane and they’re all at the top of their game.

Another week another album added to the collection with others on the way...

This time it’s the 4th studio album from Danish synth producer “Code Elektro”. Taking his score like music on a space based narrative.

And the wax just keeps on coming.

This time it’s Italian Nu-Jazz electronic music with influences all over from a myriad of genres. Plus the sleeve is awesome, you may recognise the style as I’ve posted sleeves by the same artist before.

I got gifted a turntable recently. First 5 LPs that I've purchased so far:

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool, Tool - Undertow, Twenty One Pilots - Trench

Devin Townsend - Empath, Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
