Found a good radio station that only plays dance club music, so I should be safe in the car this year.
Can't wait for the part where someone sneaks in a dance remix of the song when you least expect it:lol:

Carey has her ways...

Hey, can I join? So due to my autism, can someone explain a bit better about what the rules are here? I was surprised when I saw Mariah was involved in this thread.

Fortunately remixs dont count, right?
From the OP:
Only the original song performed by Mariah Carey counts. Remixes, covers and the duet version with Justin Bieber don't count.

Don't willingly, accidentally or by trickery listen to All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey.

We've had an annual tradition on the forum for nearly 15 years where we attempt to 'avoid' hearing a certain Christmas song during November and December. From 2010-2018, it was Last Christmas by Wham! and since then it's been All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey.

It's all in good fun. If you hear it -- and recognise that you hear it playing -- then you're 'out' for the year.

Oh, I've never listened to that, ever. And I won't.
It's not about listening to it on purpose, but about hearing it. If you're listening to the radio or somewhere that someone else has the radio on loud enough for you to hear and it comes on, you're out. If you're watching TV and it's in an ad or show, you're out. If you're shopping and it comes on whatever the store is piping through, you're out.

If one of your friends or loved ones asks to borrow your phone and sneakily changes your ringtone to play the song, you're out. If a sadistic ice cream man decides to replace his bell with a recording of All I Want For Christmas and drives down your street, you're out.

If you're browsing a popular sim racing forum and the staff use JavaScript to make it play Mariah Carey when you click on the Christmas lights or react to posts using a fire or tree emoji... you're definitely out.

(Symptoms may involve hearing sleigh bells accompanied by a sudden feeling of existential dread)

Let's see if I can make it to December this time.

Even here I'm not safe from the damn November Christmas nonsense :irked:
I will reluctantly allow it from Dec 1st but not before!

I'm back and I'm in! Let's go for the 6th star :D (Although its gonna be almost impossible considering a fellow radio host is gonna blast it all the time in december...

i'm in. however the knowledge of years has learned me that resistance is futile.

Got nailed two weeks ago when the video played on the TV in the lobby of a shop where I was looking to have someone check my transmission fluid level. But since that was before this thread posted, am I still in?

I just remember the feeling in my gut when that stupid vid came on, but since the thread hadn't started yet, I place myslef IN.
