G'Day all.

Times submitted (GT1 Class).

I too had problems with that blasted Zonda, a couple of T bones as well as being shunted into the fence put paid to three pretty decent efforts.

I was slightly peeved about that :grumpy: as life is too short to keep running 35 lap races in an effort to control my own destiny, rather than have moronic AI spoil the party.

I came up with a strategy based on my observations ( also the info from GTsail ) so as to avoid errant AI by being forewarned and backing off slightly until they were no longer parked in the middle of the track or driving to the side I knew they would not be.
I also ended up putting in a lot of very consistent laps and manged to keep away from trouble for most of the Race ( a very nervous couple of laps following the Panoz right at the end was basically my only interaction with that lot after my first pit ).

I won my Race, by over a lap, for 52 points using RH tyres all the way ( the BMW is almost undrivable on orange tinted RM tyres btw ).

Although definitely not in the hunt for a win or fastest lap, I am very happy with my effort.
A good days racing all round with the V8 supercars and F1 on telly today as well.

Just done my GT1 race. Did it with the sound off listening to GB vs Korea ice hockey match so not expecting anything great from the time!

From next round i'll reduce the AI for GT1 because unless you're driving the McLaren F1 too many people will be way behind the AI.

Just so everyone knows whats going to happen with lapped race times, this is how i'll calculate it:

If you send me your race time for however many laps you finished and tell me how many behind you were. Then i'll calculate your average lap time for the race (race time - 30 secs for each pit made / number of laps done) and add the extra lap times to your total time.

Does this mean I picked the right car? LOL I am still hunting for the right technique for this machine. I feel right at home in my GTS choice, the Viper.

Because you speed the BMW up after the AI is chosen it effectively makes the AI level lower, whereas all the other GT1s are slowed down after the line up's picked making the AI level higher.

Just been running the Audi, it's such a great car to race around here. Didn't think I was a fan of AH but I am now :)

Unfortunately, I am going to have to skip this race. :guilty: I was exhausted last night (I visited a university for two nights and had to sleep on the floor in a dorm room), so I slept for eleven hours, which means that I'll simply run out of time to complete this race. :banghead: I'll have my work cut out for me if I want to win the championship, but I guess it gives me extra motivation, at least. :lol:

Seriously tho, wouldn't worry about me for GT1. Didn't even win the race, shocking effort all round!
 
Okay, for clarification, can we call the McLaren, the McLaren as I have the other BMW. I mean, granted, BMW DOES own McLaren, but it's a McLaren, still.

Anyways, I know my BMW is fast. Even on hard tires I was keeping up with a lot of the AI cars. And with Soft Tires, the Leading Audi was struggling to pull away from me.

Not the best time but I was able to complete the race without much trouble...until the last two laps..
T-boned a car coming out of the chicanes!!!!! :grumpy: and then I lost control on a rumble strip, finished the race on a DQ lap...:dunce:

Time submitted. I've been using the wheel for the past couple months on iracing and it's definitely a struggle to switch back to the ds2.
I hope I can find a way to use the wheel with gt instead of relearning how to drive with the controller.:banghead:
 
You can use wheels with GT4 as long as it's PS2 compatible. I've got one and it makes me ~1 second a lap slower! Really good fun tho.

I'm afraid that I've left some time on the table, but getting clean races is tough! I learned a lesson though, don't pass the Audi R8 during the first lap!

Twice I passed the Audi on lap 1, thinking, great move GTsail, now just get in the draft of the car in front and you've got 5th place in the race. HA! The Audi does not take kindly to this, so once on lap 3 and the second time on lap 4 (another attempt), the Audi slams into my rear bumper going into turn 1 and I take to the sand. Race done!

The Audi must really brake late going into turn one.:drool:

I think they all brake too late. Just 'cos they have soft tyres :ouch: showoffs !
I note you have an Audi in your lineup. With AI @ +8, mine is always a CLK Mercedes,Zonda,Panoz and a couple of Nissans, for GT1 class at least, I have not checked the other classes yet.

Let's see, with my BMW, with +8 it's usually an Audi R8, CLK, Panoz, Bentley (which always looses), and I think the minolta Toyota or the Sauber.

With the Panoz on +8, I've got the 787B somehow which just simply kicks my butt. Along with a Nissan R390, the Toyota 7 that can't drive and the Gillet Vertigo that also has a hard time with corners.

With the Pagani, it's a couple of prototypes (I think the CLK is the fast one)...the Ford GT is the slow one and a bunch of others that I have a hard time keeping up with. Luckily, with Hard tires, they struggle to lap me.

You are quite right Viperin, their soft tires must really help them with the late braking, plus all the cars are faster than me down the straight.:grumpy:

At the level 8 difficulty setting I get one of the following lineups in my Nissan R390 GT1:
-- Playstation Pescarolo C60
-- Pescarolo Courage C60
-- Audi R8
-- Nissan R89C
-- BMW V12 LMR

or

-- Playstation Pescarolo C60
-- Pescarolo Courage C60
-- Bentley Speed 8
-- Nissan R89C
-- BMW V12 LMR

or

-- Playstation Pescarolo C60
-- Pescarolo Courage C60
-- Audi R8
-- Nissan R89C
-- Bentley Speed 8

They are all tough to beat!:grumpy: My best was fourth place.

A level 4 difficultly setting gives me the following lineup in my Nissan R390:

-- Panoz Esperante
-- AMG Mercedes CLK
-- Gillet Vertigo
-- Toyota 7
-- Mazda 787B

which is similar to the lineup that SuperShouden is getting with his Panoz. I think that ABud is looking into this. Like ABud says in his post # 33 above, the lineup differences are caused by our car selection. Ie, those of us who must downgrade our cars significantly from stock (the Nissan R390 and the AMG Mercedes) end up in very tough lineups. While those driving either the Panoz or the BMW McLaren don't have this problem.

Except for the R390 and Mazda are ten times faster than the Panoz. I mean, I came in 3rd, but that was a lap behind the Nissan and 2 laps behind the Mazda.

The Audi uses you as a brake. :scared: As do many of the other cars in the lineup. Glad to see that it wasn't only me that the lineup was moving away from. Could keep up with them for a while. But they just shot away from me on the straights. Even when I was trying to draft.
 
To heck with the standings. I'm very happy to get those bonus points for being under the 103%. Last season, those were rare for me.

Congrats to all podium people. 👍 And to ABud for his penalty. Would have run/driven away from the field. :)
 
That DTP came on my final stint with the soft tyres on. I'd just done 2 awful laps (both slower than my hard tyre pace) and was frustrated and just slammed into the R89C i think it was. Only did one half decent lap for the whole stint, probably would've been quicker to stick with the hard tyres :dopey:

Congrats to all finishers tho, got some good racing in there :cheers: Also congrats to oldmodelt for your 103% finishes, I know thats something you aim for 👍
 
In my races my cars were faster than the AI across the board and it seemed that there was always another car "just up ahead" which is a great inspiration. I am pretty sure I just lapped the field at the end of the races. Perhaps something can be done so we all see the same type of event.

My Pagani had a good running. I'm satisfied with where it finished. Definitely my best result out of my three cars. I'm sure the BMW could have gotten a better time if I hadn't screwed up. We'll see how it goes this next round.
 
I'm kinda surprised I placed as well as I did; I didn't feel like I had a very good race put together. Still, I'll take it. :) Congratulations to all nine people who were good enough to stand on the podium.
