Times submitted.
A nice safe and steady Race (GT1 Class). A couple of minor offs but managed not to hit anything.
The new settings for AI meant a lonely Race for me as I hardly saw them after the first lap, only 9 points too. Oh well.
I took on board comments on tyre selection and mixes and found it very helpul.

Thanks !

Time Submitted.
I'm not really happy with my time, I guess I was more asleep than awake last night (1am) :(
I had hard tires in the front and mediums in the rear...:dunce:...should have been the other way around....Even when pitting I did not catch this mistake.
Got around 9 laps per set of tires...

Good Luck to all

Times submitted. Like most of you. This track presents a challenge. Unlike Austin343. When I took an off track route I didn't slow myself down. I'm not good enough to use it to my advantage. :banghead:

Greetings all -
I have just submitted my times in GTS and GT1. Quite decent times, but it was a lot of work. Pushing this hard at Laguna Seca is tough. I must have aborted 10-12 races on lap one from AI impacts.:guilty: Once the race was going it was much easier to miss them, but lap one just kept giving me problems.:yuck: I only had one "close your eyes" near miss, either the AMG Mercedes CLK or the Panoz Esperante was sitting sideways right in the middle of the track just before turn 10 , and I had to fake right and go left to miss it:scared: I really don't remember what car it was because I was doing my best to miss it and didn't look closely.

Both races were pretty clean wth no short-cuts, but I do remember, that on 4 or 5 occasions putting one tire on the rumble strip and the other tire on the sand. I did this a couple of times coming out of the Rainey curve, and a couple of times going thru turn 6.:guilty:

More info:
I forgot to mention an earlier race with the Dodge Viper. I pitted on lap 30 for a change of tires that should take me to the end of the race, and came out loaded for bear since I was on my best race so far.:) I drive hard for 3 1/2 laps and then notice that my tires are orange??? What's the story??? I drive back into the pits for another tire change. And what to I see? I had put on super soft tires instead of mediums!:dunce: I had been on softs, and I was trying to change to mediums for a final 8 lap stint, but messed up!:dunce: Of course this isn't really driver error since the pit crew is in charge of the tire changes!;)

Good luck all,
GTsail

Submitted , barely in time.

I submitted my first race time I had done early last week.
Just now I was running this again and saw clock being -2 minutes from deadline.
I was on lap 36/38 and I thought : These LMP's don't run this track under one minute ,
so I'd miss the deadline if I would finish the race.
Sooo.. I submitted the only full race I had.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the deadline is forty-seven minutes from now. Summer time is confusing, isn't it?

Oh darn , you're right on that.. I have double-failed today then.

btw - what is a maxdrive replay. Are not captured replay vids acceptable ?

It is a device for saving your replays/races. It is sold by Datel. I got mine through Codejunkies's NA offices. I wanted it for two reasons. One: to be able to download the replays to the GTRP site for verification. And Two: to be able to upload them on to YouTube. I was disappointed on both fronts.

The first way is a long and laborious process. The second is that Youtube doesn't support the MD format that I know of. $35.00 smackers. Only good thing was the USB stick (which can't be used for non-MD stuff) can be used with the discs they include with it to download cheats for a lot of PS2 games from their site and the discs. My boys enjoy it and I was able to download a cheat to be able to run all the tracks in GT3. I wanted SS11 and complexstring.

But I wouldn't really recommend it unless someone can point out something I've missed. I'll probably go the capture card route if I want to bore you guys with my fantastic GT/TT skills. Although it might be fun to show Famine #34.

I recorded a video of the first ten minutes of my race (all that Youtube will accept), just in case it was useful or interesting for any of you. This shows only my stint on hard tires, so it isn't completely representative of my race.

Now that I watch it again, it looks like I tapped the Mercedes slightly in the first corner. It seemed clean when I drove it, so I apologize. :guilty:

Well I'm within a couple of secs of you after 6 laps. That is taking my split in the pit when they start to change tyres. But I ran RS/RS/RS/RH. So I'm going to start losing some serious time every lap when you switch.

When I watch your vids I am amazed at how well you hold your lines from lap to lap and how accurate your adjustments are as conditions change.

Great driving, thanks for uploading.

+ 0.075!!! You are having a laugh :banghead:

Congrats though to all racers, and to east for a victorious return. 👍

I suppose that's ballanced out by the 20 sec non qualifying penalty for east but still...

Close racing though, shame it's Suzuka next - that's one of the worst tracks of the season for me.

If I hadn't spun and stayed on hard tires the whole way, I might have actually beaten ya, Raz. I did manage to beat modelt, though. Suzuka sucks for me, too, though. But, I'll try to get it done with all three classes, though.

Great wins East and Austin343:tup:

Thankfully the GT1 race was not another lap longer or Austin343 would have lapped me:scared::eek:

Great job everyone on a tough track!

Respectfully,
GTsail

It's a good thing I chose this week to be crazily busy, because I would have never been able to keep up. Fortunately, this is the worst track of the season for me. Hopefully, I'll be back (and better) from here on out.

lol...you beat me usually. :P and I'm actually proud of where I came...if I had redone that race like I planned, I probably would have placed a bit higher.
