oh boy, the 20th is graduation day so this might be tough for me.

Man, I'll tell ya, heading into that pit stop for the first time is kinda scary :scared: - really took some practice to get it right. Anyone else?

Looks like a 2-stopper for me but may try to do a no-stopper tomorrow.

There is no use to try this no-stopper thing.18 laps are too long without pitting.I can't imagine how to run it on Hards.:ill: Maybe on SuperHards but this kind of compound is restricted...
If you run on Softs for 3X6 laps long stints with two pits, you'll be faster I am sure about it,but I think a one-stopper on Mediums gives the best results.👍

Actually, i took a stab at no-stopping in PRO, but after about 15 laps, the times fall off dramatically. maybe a guy like the Tire King could do it, but no this guy.

I agree with you GTX, 1-stopping on RM is the way i'm going, i can't make up the extra time on softs to justify the second pit stop.

Most of us have raced here before Racer so we know the feeling .. ive tried a new entry route to the pits { though not if anyones behind you } it takes some practise but its worth it .. [ or is it ? ] try taking a sweeping arc into the pit lane from the middle or LH side of the track .. you carry a bit more speed on entry ... and get a better view .

Very interesting maneuver Delfino. I hadn't thought of that. I'll try that tonight.

Thanks 👍
ERacer

Yup! I agree with Marty!

I have used that method since S2 of the JGTC visited Fuji.

Stay in the middle of the track till you can see the entrance of the pits, and take a sweeping line into them. Cutting through the hash-marked section.

It can be a little dicey, and sometimes you may hit the left-hand wall if you get your aim wrong. But the gain intime by not having to slow down so much is worth it, especially in short races like this.

BTW, I'm looking at a single stopper in GT1 wth SOFTS for the second stint. 11 laps on mediums for the first stint!

Neil

Ran 2 sessions { both 1 stoppers } in GT3 last night and was surprised to see the Subaru was quicker { 15+secs } when i used harder rubber :indiff: .. came to the conclusion that the time difference was due to the gear setting { only 10kmph higher } .. looks like delfino will be running another 2 sessions in GT3 .

Have to compliment the AI in this class 👍 there's no push or shove from the other cars while racing close ; though you do need to keep an eye on the rear vision mirror ay the end of the straight .

just finished the GTPGTS Series in a tie. hopefully I can get my times in while this busy graduation week is still in full swing.

Bet it was the left one?

At least the race isn't so long that it completely bum's you out when it happens.

Neil

Delfino is away on a part business , part pleasure trip up the north coast for the next 4-5 days .. times sent .

Just done some comparison races, in the Snake.

a) 9 + 9 RM/RM+RM/RM (hard, but smooth and consistant laps)
b) 11+ 7 RM/RM+RS/RS (taking it easy on the mediums, harder on the softs)
c) 12+ 6 RH/RM+RS/RS (pushing the hards, really pushing the softs)

a) By far the most consistant race, apart from a couple of minor mistakes in the hairpin. Only maybe a second or so out-there, fastest lap 1'20.0xx
b) The hardest race to do, babying the mediums and the softs for that lap or two extra was hard.(fronts) More than I would like still out there, ultimately slower than (a), but fastest lap 1'19.4xx
c) Much easier than (b), only the rears caused problems on lap 12 (left). A few minor mistakes, again in the hairpin (missing my braking point at the top of the hill) Only about 2 seconds out there, fastest lap 1'18.3xx. Again ultimately slower than (a), but not by much.

Neil

Well,I planned the following strategy:
10 laps on Mediums and 8 on Softs. So I will be able to push a little bit harder and the time loss caused by tyre wearing won't be so ,uch,I think.
Tomorrow I will try this.If at first I don't succeed (I mean it will be impossible to stay out an 8 laps long stint on Softs) I will stay at my first plan:2x9 laps on Mediums.
Neil, what's your opinion about this?Is it possible to do 8 laps on softer compound?

Hey Ya'll, sorry I've been AWOL but I had to go in the hospital and have some work done on my lower back...getting old ain't for sissys. Anyway I'll probably be able to climb into the cockpit some time this weekend. I feel horible about letting you down Chris and Neil but I've put this surgery off for too long and finally had to do it. The worst part was being away from my best friend Maximo, hope my wife doesn't read this. My wife told me that Max went into a depression while I was gone..wouldn't eat or wag his tail. Since he's been a puppy he's been with me nearly 24/7 and he thinks his only job in life is to be with me wherever I go.
Anyway again I'm sorry guys but I'll be back in the groove soon!!!

Laszlo mate!

You know I say this with the utmost respect, but I can't do 8 fast & consistant laps on softs! I don't think anyone can!

The fronts are red-raw and completely gone by the end of the 7th lap, even with super-smooth driving. It's the braking from high speed to nearly nothing that does them in!
The braking zones at the end of the S/F straight, the entry to the first chicane, the entry to the hairpin and especially the entry to the final chicane all are horrible for tyre-wear. It's not the braking as such, but the braking whilst driving a bend that's the killer.
And only the S/F and first chicane ones are anything near to straight.

I'm going with the 2x9 laps option! It's faster anyway!

@Drew!

Welcome back to the land of the living my friend! 👍 👍

Don't rush yourself mate, the team's still here, and it's not like you don't have a damn good excuse, is it? ;)

Neil

Thanks Buddy, I've really missed this place and you guys!!!

Man, that's tough, Drew. Glad you're back and hope it was successful work. I was "inside" for eight weeks after a bike accident and the best part was when this outside group would bring in the Therapy Dog. That, and my wife putting our collies on the phone made it all bearable. Luckily (for them), there were four of them and plenty of sheep to keep 'em busy while I was gone (I didn't miss the sheep much  )! 👍

Yeah, but did ya count them at night? :)

Thanks Joe for the welcome home! Where's Silk Hope Joe? We go up to Banner Elk most every year, near Boone and Grandfather Mountain. My wife and I are going to hopefully end up in N.C., if we can afford it now, should have bought 10 years ago before the stampede of Floridiots started. Although I'd qualify as a halfback , moved to Fl from up north ,then halfback up to N.C. N.C has to be one of the most beautiful states, I'm tired of being a flatlander I want mountains again!!! Sorry to go off topic guys, I'm just happy to be back :)

Yeah, but did ya count them at night? :)

Where's Silk Hope Joe?

Sold the little buggers off awhile back (pun intended)!

Silk Hope doesn't exist according to the USPS, but it's a township right outside of Siler City, south of Greensboro, west of Raleigh.

And, the NC mountains are heaven indeed!

Ah, don't pay Neil any mind, he's a sorry old sod , like a little ol lady :) Dang, I am feeling better!

Just did a one stopper (with RM's)in the Snake, tires last just right for 9 laps, fastest lap 1'19.9XX.
I actually feel I'm driving better after a few weeks off, probably my imagination or possibly the meds imagination. I may just be able to submit this week, maybe only one car but heck it's better then nothing.

Yes,I thought that it is not easy, maybe impossible, but I need to hear it.Maybe with my style the seven lap thing is impossible too.:)
Thank you for the advice Neil, you gave me some spare time to race with some kind of "healthy" strategy.
I'll try the race today.Good luck you all.

Welcome back Andy.👍
