NewYorkTrackMap.jpg

GTPLMS comes to New York for the 3rd round of the season. New York boasts one of the fastest straights on circuit, and also one of the most technical sections as well, making it a true test for drivers and crew chiefs. Up the long stretch of Broadway, on Central Park South, through a very tight series of 90 degree corners toward 7th Avenue, and then a hairpin through Times Square, drivers get a glimpse of everything Downtown New York has to offer. But don't get caught staring at the sights, the walls here are as unforgiving as a cabbie with no tip.

Hey Chris,

If I read the Competition Adjustments correctly, I should still be at 453 (2) HP for NY Qualifying & Race--the adjustment lasts for three rounds and it was assessed after Fuji Qualifying, yet I'm listed above at 448 (1). Please let me know, thanks.

Joe

Ran about 100 laps here the other night .. and Del is almost 'tuned into' NY reverse .. it takes awhile to get used to it and the vision is a bit so-so , but it's becoming more of a joy racing here than i thought it would .

Watch out guys, I'm gonna put 110% into this one, I have a lot of points to make up!! My new improved back is working great, either that or the Morphine is messing with my head and giving me delusions of grandure (sp?)

Joe, you should be at +2 (453), i've updated it. I have some issues with times and qualifying places, and it's worked out. just hard to do w/ 20+ cars...glad you all are keeping me honest.

c

ICallShotgun, I'm confused about my Horsepower for Prototype. it seems in each Qualifying and race so far, I've had it subtracted despite finishing worse then the top three. could you explain it to me?

Man alive! I would give anything to be able to run my Audi at Fuji, one of the best combos of all time in any racing game I"ve played...DAMN! LOL, aww well, onto NY :) I gave about an hour on this combo, started (cause I haven't touched GT4 in MONTHS) with tcs at 350..meh....did okay, also found out what kind of light contact is allowed with the 10 sec. penalty. I then nutted up and did no tcs, which is always 'fun' with high rumble strips. AHHHH....much better, took it to 340 and kept it in 3rd all around for the turns, sweet as hell, the last turn had to 3/4 throttle for a bit, then into 4th. That gearing worked out best cause I just started to top out at the end of the front stretch entering turn 1, so no loss in time (or it feels that way). I met my goal for this race pretty easily, I found I can draft the 5th place car exiting the carousel entering T1, pass him on that sharp right (little contact) then the 4th place on the sharp right FOLLOWING the double rights and 3rd place car as I exit the last turn and then draft the 1st place car as I cross the finish for a very fast lap 2. Then its smooth sailing for a quick 3 laps remaining. If I have more time I'll race again, but I am taking my A+ cert class, so I only get a couple hours a week. Laters all!

Jerome

Hey Jerome! Buddy! Long time no see!

How's it hanging?

Neil

Yeah Jerome, I haven't seen your name since I was running the WRS in it's first 45 weeks.
The quali is 4 laps, in your vivid description it sounded like you were doing 5 laps.

Times Sent. the corners are really the places where I make up alot of time.

Dels done his qaulifying and would post his time's .. but as the sun sets .. the racer in him is itching to get back for yet another set of 4 laps .. this circuit grows on you 👍

Looking forward to race day here :) ... might even race in GT1 if it's ok with the race director

The AI are such a pain around here.
I just saw the biggest crash ive ever seen on gt4.
It was down the start finish straight and the Nissan GT-R was drafting the Ford GT spec II. It pulled out to overtake, and drove straight into the wall that sticks out on the right near the finish line. It then skidded across and rammed the Ford into the barriers on the otherside of the track. Then the 350Z and the Zonda who were both following closely, slammed into the GT-R.
Leaving me to take some serious evasive action.

:D Yeah, the canyons of NYC make for some unbelievable crashes.

Anyone look in the rear view mirror? Looks like two massive dark smoke clouds on either side of the street. Kinda looks like 9/11. Very unsettling.

I'm Having problems with the track!

It's not the AI for a change, or the car's handling.
It's the fact that in this direction, on my monitor, the track itself is very indistinct. I can barely see the corners before I'm on them!
It's not a problem I had in the normal forward direction.
The scenery and the tarmac just seem to blend together, to the point where I can't distinguish between them.

Maybe it's just me? Or maybe it's my monitor blurring the picture (with a bit of luck that won't be a problem soon), or maybe it's a global problem caused by PD not doing the graphics as well in the reverse direction.

Any comments or advice?

Neil

If all goes well you won't have that problem in about a week...nod,nod, wink, wink! Inside joke guys, and I'm not at liberty to explain.

So is it just my setup that's at fault then Andy? Or is it the graphics, and the track's more indistinct in this direction for everyone?

I have no problems seeing the course, I think it's your TV Neil....you need a new one!!

Looks fine both rev & normal on my screen. I thought I saw Christina Aquilera in front of a hotel. So I waved as I drove by and lost a few 1/10th's, but I think she smiled at me, so it was worth it :D Otherwise everything looks normal on the screen :D

Howdy fellas! Been a while indeed, busy busy and all that.
So when do we get the results posted? Oh and I did do just 4 laps, fyi. GL and see ya at the finish!

Jerome

Results go up on Sunday night, about an hour or so after the deadline.
Chris is pretty much on the ball where that's concerned.
If he's gonna be late, he tells us in advance!
👍 👍

Neil

Hey thx for the info- Tyre......King? -err, Neil! :)

Jerome

Yeah.... It's sort of a 'long race series' thing!

you'll see!

Let someone else explain it, I gotta go watch Liverpool kick Milan's arses!

Neil

Neil earned the "nic" by being able to extend his tire life beyond what just about anyone does, while doing consistantly fast laps :scared:

As he begins to post about his pitting, you'll find that he's getting maybe 4 laps or so. It's been pretty funny watching the reply postings coming from the "newbies" into the long racing series. "How in the world are you getting 11 laps on RM's ?"

I ran the last race just for S & G's only once, Fuji '90's version. I took a mid-level power setting for the GT 3 Subaru, and got 12 laps on RM's and finished the race on RS's. I'm sure Neil was around there, if not more !

So don't be surprized if you see a posting of his that states something along that way in the upcoming events :sly:

you noticed that too? it creeped me out when I saw it.

@SammiTougeGirl: I witnessed something similar to that happen when I was doing my run with the TT-R. it involved the Jaguar and the Lister and I was nearly hit when the Lister spin around after it. very close call

say, did anyone else besides me notice the "Late Show" Studio as they were driving down the front straightaway? I thought it was me at first, but when I paused it, I could clearly see the Letters.
