:gtplanet: Welcome enthusiast, this is a thread solely dedicated to the vintage fore runners of the auto and motorsport industry. It doesn't matter what the make or model is, ex. 1970 Honda or Abarth, they're both welcomed. You can post pics, vids, and info on any vehicles from the 1900-1970s, pre and post WWII vehicles will very much be appreciated. Their's some exception to rare 80s vehicles, we will not be nitpicking, content is always good even though it may not fit the criteria 100%. Yes, classic American Muscle is permitted and expected as well. If its a modern car relating to a classic or vintage model thats also acceptable. To keep the search feature convenient try to add the name and year of the vehicle(s) you're posting (if you can, if you don't know the year and all don't worry about it). You may post as many pics and vids as you want, the more the marrier. There will be no spam in this thread, if you're not contributing content or commenting on the subject at hand don't comment at all. With that being said let see what you have! Heres a few things to get us started:

This happens to be the most recent car I've fell in love with. Not only because of its retro Sci-Fi Super Villain looks, but also because of the way it engine functions. This is the Voisin C20 Mylord Demi-Berline. It was created by Gabriel Voisin, a previous aircraft designer who left the industry in pursuit of more artistic routes. This is only one of his creations from that transition.

This engine is one of the most complex from its era. A sleeve valve V12 which instead of having valves poping open and close like our conventional engines, it has moving sleeves that surrounded the piston to uncover intake and exhaust ports. This was supposedly more efficient allowing high speeds with less stress in oppose to a push rod engine and also gave a quieter ride. Also notice how the belts are made on this engine (left hand side of pic) and the beautiful wood grain of the radiator fan . Now thats attention to detail you will not find in any modern auto. I have more content on the way, I just have to take the time to index somethings so I get all the names and years right.

POST'EM:cheers:

Thanks,

Those were two events, one was a car show benefiting my local Catholic high school and the other is the Brian Redman International Challenge @ Road America.

^ It must be pretty sick to live close to Road America. The closest road course to me is Waterford Hills which is nice but theirs no comparison to RA lol.

My beloved favourite car of all time, the 1969 Corvette ZL-1. Power comes from the Aluminum L-88 427c.i. (7.0l) V8, making allegedly 550 hp. There's only 2 ever produced.

1969 Dodge Charger Daytona/1970 Plymouth Superbird
This is Bobby Issacs championship-winning example. The first car to ever have an open qualifying lap over 200 mph in NASCAR and was a record that held for an additional 15 years. 503 Daytona's were produced, 70 with the Hemi. There were 1920 Superbirds made. Charger Daytona's nose made 1,200 pounds of downforce and the wing made 600 pounds of downforce. Of the 47 races in the 1970 NASCAR season, 11 went to above-pictured Bobby Issac, 21 Went to Superbirds alone with Richard Petty claiming 8 for himself.

Ford of Australia Falcon Cobra
This is possibly one of the examples that raced in the 1977 Bathurst 1000 race
Each of the cars was given its own individual serial number and fitted with a sequentially-numbered plaque (from 1 to 400) in the dash. The first 200 produced were given the 5.8L 351 Cleveland V8, while the other 200 received the 4.9L 302 Cleveland.( the expection Build number 1 was a 302 and Build Number 351 was a 351.)

Cobras were available with either automatic or manual transmission. Standard equipment included four-wheel disc brakes and limited slip axles, 15-inch Bathurst Globe wheels and front & rear spoilers. The interiors were fitted with sport leather seats in black with blue inserts.

Just some stuff. I'll post more here as I go along.

Cheers,
Jetboy

I present the early Mazda rotary family!

Mazda R100, made from 1968-1972.

Mazda RX2, made from 1970-1978. The first to have the 12A powerplant.

Then followed the RX3 (Savanna in Japan), which had two distinctive styles, the 10A & 12A front.

Then followed the RX4 (Luce in Japan) which debuted the famed 13B motor.

And finally, the abandoned child of the Mazda family, the RX5 (Cosmo in Japan), which also had the 13B motor.

Its a '63 because of the split window. That has to be my favorite corvette ever. Would like it to be black with the hood intake being red.

Oh so the '63 was the only year that had the split rear window and the '64 had the one piece, straight across.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the photos/videos?? Nice pics btw:tup:

I'm not absolutely sure, but their's the "Did you see anything good today" and "guess that car" pic threads so hopefully we're not too out of place.., I hope. But the mods will move it if they see fit.

Also its nice to see some American & Australian Muscle in here guys.

man, we got so many actuall film photos hanging around from years worth of car show runs. (i mostly took interiors). I should archive some of the best for you. not to mention some of the more unusual ones. you brits, Imagine a roller in the US outside of hollywood!

looks like I have some Archiving to do. be a good way to use up a couple CD's.

Heh, I'm not usually a fan of muscle cars but the classic Aussie muscles are exceptions. If only a good-condition GTHO didn't cost over 300 grand (or at least that's the last I've heard of it) a pop...gotta love the three-fiddy-one Cleveland.

350ci put a cam in, 750cfm carb, hi-rise intake manifold, heads with 2.02 vales, headers and glass packs. But the BEST part is its a manual! super T-10 a 4 speed!
-the nascar plate cover is a inside joke
-I didn't do a AC delete like I should of.
-the $80 purple hornys (glass packs) are a temp cheap solution.

thanks sporano 3 1 3

^ Very nice man! I have something here you may like and I was waiting for a good reason to post'em.

hey, Ford Guys...lets show the Europeans that Galaxies didn't used to be Minivans!

Since I'm drawing a new version of my old D1GP Hornet, I might as well post a few "Fabulous" cars.

 All ford needs to do now is build a sub-compact hybrid hatch-back and call it a Fairlane.

Murcie: well, SOME of you know. i just keep expecting to hear "(slang term for Americans) used to have (model)? did they import them?"

Soprano: the Flex's concept was named Fairlane, remember? besides, knowing ford, they'll call it Pinto, and the battery will blow up!!
