I'm playing GTR2 on a computer with s-video into my TV. The font size is a bit too small to read on the TV. Is there a mod that allows you to modify the font size throughout the game menus and in-game?

Thanks,
chisel316

I figured it out! I'll answer my own question just in case there are others who want to alter the font size like I did. Every bit of text in this game is saved in standard txt files. There is a font specified for each section. Simply change the font and you're set! For example, the super-tiny font in the Driving School section is called FT_Standard_TEXT_SMALL. I just changed it to FT_Standard_TEXT_LARGE and now I can see it on my TV! :)

I have that version on rfactor, its a nice version to drive. I cant wait for the all-road Norschleife (not sure why thats the name).

I just got this game a couple of days ago . . . Now, I know what all the Hype is all about! This sim . . . I'm speechless. My DFP works well with it . . . The number of items that you can adjust is plain scary. Best $20 I've ever spent. And to think that GT4 cost me $49! If GT5 could only incorporate . . . just some of GTR2's . . . features . . . 👍

Is this carset available yet? Please! Please! Please!!!!

I'm not seeing a lot of mods out there yet but this game is intense!

I've already got my eye on Super World GT. Are the others out already?

That's useful, I get all the cars I want and no worrying what Mod I'm using.

If anyone has not gotten Thinlane_T's V8 soundpack and EAK's brake whine, one word, oops I crapped my pants, okay that's not one word but you've gotta get it. link here:

sorry this overshadows GTplanet's V8 noises, thanks for introducing me to the site.

I just got this game and I can say I love it. I'm not good enough to do any of the races yet, but I'm getting better. I don't have a wheel, sadly, so I'm using my Xbox 360 controller, which still works fine with speed assist steering on full.

How are the mods for this? Is it easy to install mods? I'd love to see some new cars, like GT1 and GT2 cars in there, maybe a McLaren F1 or some street cars would be sweet. I'd love tearing up the asphalt in a Bugatti veyron.

The mods are amazing, So far I've been working on getting newer cars and the mod teams work so fast they release cars within weeks, especially skins.

The mods don't just make the game real, they make it fun. There's talk about an F1 mod in GTR2 because the physics and graphics are better then rFactor. I for one am very interested in an open wheel mod.

Where is a good website to get these? I'm interested in getting new cars. I already managed to find the Nordschleife

I just started playing and I'm not that good yet, I'm trying to find the balance between 'careful' and 'fast' because whenever I get reckless, into the woods I go.

I've played a bit of the driving school but I find the challeneges...don't teach you that much and it's like racing a real car, you have to figure out what to do on your own. That number and arrow may be flashing above your head but it's usually wrong. Getting gold is easy, but getting it in the rain...it's like GT4 all over again but with rain!!! It should be called Rainschool!!!

GTR2 is fantastic! I love the feel of the cars and driving school has taught me to drive properly (on GTR1 i drove semi pro with TC and ABS) now i can drive simulation with no aids whatsoever! Awesome!:D

I would be more than willing to start a weekly series up. Keep an eye out for it in the Long Race Series forums. Not sure when I'll get it up and going, but let's see how this all goes... what do we think?

Dave

EDIT: Should the series be open for GT, NGT, G2, and G3, or should there be restrictions, and what should those restrictions be if any?

I've been getting better at this. GT4 helped me like a stepping stone but because the physics are so different, I've been driving in the school, which I can say is easier than GT4...I hate driving tests but they really help, and in a short time. I also had the force feedback really high but I was tolder to lower it to 30% so I could make accurate movements with the wheel. It's helped a lot. I race a Ferrari 360 in GT2 now, in the Calpont 35 ALMS 2003 skin. I even downloaded some of my favorite tracks, Limerock!!! Laguna Seca, which is very different for the GT4 version and even an Oval Speedway called Orchard Lake.

Yeah. I only did the driving school to beat the game, however it was fun to try and get gold in the challenges. Some of them were very challenging for me and then the level higher I'd get gold right out of the box, it was certainly fun and definitely beneficial to someone lacking experience.

I love all the downloads available for GTR2, admittedly it isn't quite at the level rFactor is at for modding, there is still quite the impressive community out there. From out of the box, GTR2 is a superior game, so I don't see a reason to put in all the mods that rFactor has anyways. Speaking of rFactor, Orchard Lake is a part of the rFactor track mod. There are also fantasy tracks (that I believe were also available for the original GTR, called KW Superspeedway, Momo Raceway park and there was one more. Not sure If I have the names right but I think I have...

Dave, if you don't mind organizing us, (and trust me it'll be like teaching physics to headless chickens) I'd gladly make time for your series. And might I recommend an NGT-G3 field (with some additions from G2, most notably the BMW M3).

Cheers,
