Wow. GTR2 looks pretty nice but hopefully they will programm a good lobby system. I've heard a lot of complaints because of the buggy lobby.

When are the first preview videos expected? Don't know how long we have to wait for it.

Ok, cool didn't know they were partners. That's interesting... So why are you interested in the LCD?
Good question!! I got interested in the LCD when I heard that BRD was developing an FFB wheel with an LCD screen. Finding out how much this wheel is going to cost, I lost interest but not the idea behind the LCD screen. I'm a perfectionist and a sucker for realisme. Getting the MoteC info on a LCD instead on your monitor (ingame), like irl, is still very appealing to me. When I saw that keyboard with the LCD screen and I found out about the partnership between Simbin and Logitech (from a Dutch Simbin employee, so I guess this info is trustworthy), I got very interested in this keyboard, only for the LCD.
Forgot to mention that I'm also interested in the rev counter gauge Tachometer from frex.
By the way, your question was legit (I understand now). I forgot to mention that Simbin and Logitech are partners, my mistake.

Double post, sorry. I'm messing things up. I'm not concentrated at the moment.

Hmm... ok.. I guess you have way better eye and hand coordination than I. I can't deal with that many things going on and expect to drive decent at the same time. :grumpy: Thank god that's not true IRL.

New info! (Not sure how much of it is actualy new)

The successor to the international award-winning racing simulation GTR accurately represents the challenges of Motorsport racing. The detailed, photo-realistic depiction of these powerful cars and beautiful circuits, thanks to the latest graphics technology, and the enhanced driving model will make your adrenaline rise in one of more than one hundred HP-beasts. Beginners can start with the driving school where they are taught the basics of race driving by a professional instructor. Thanks to dynamic day, night and weather changes and an impressive damage system, the races of the exciting FIA GT series become a thrilling gaming experience.

# Realism has been redefined: absolutely authentic physics, dynamic day and weather changes as well as an impressive damage model

# Great variety: More than 140 touring cars reproduced down to the last detail including all vehicles of the GT and NGT classes and the 24H races from two FIA GT seasons

# Original circuits: More than 19 officially licensed tracks

# Tough competition: Human-like AI opponents

# Scalable levels: 3 different game modes (Novice, Semi-Pro and Simulation)

# Great fun: 6 game events (Open practice, Race weekend, Championships, Time trials, 24 Hour Races, Driving school)

# International competition: fully integrated multiplayer mode for racing against other human drivers from all over the world.

PC Gamer have write up on GTR2 this month, here's the basic outline of what the contents are:

Full 2003 season tracks and cars.
Full 2004 season tracks and cars.
All tracks from GTL and various layouts.
Proximus 24hr race and usable online as well.
Driving school, which will unlock stuff.
24hr sun cycle which will effect track temperture.
LiveBrain-a system whereby the AI takes a lap and abit to get their eye in to reach full protential.
LiveTrack which has been upgraded to include rain on some parts of the circuit while its dry on other parts.
Totally new lovingly GPS-mapped courses are Valencia/Dubia/and China's new Zuhia.
Animated full pit crew.
Dynamic rain, reflective roads.
Sexed up enviroments.
Incresed crash damage.
Extra smoke and particale effects.

system specs are very low aswell, me likes!

absolutely authentic physics
I'm not sure about that. That's what they said about GTR aswell. Does this mean that they lied about GTR?? Statements like that
is all about marketing!!

No, it's an accurate statement if taken in conext with what authentic physics actually are. For examply GTR makes X calculations per second, all of these calculations are done to the right math and physics and provide the right results, it's authentic physic as far as comparing them to real life is concerned. GTR2 might make three times as many calculations, that gives it room to be more realistic and be authentic again compared to real life. It still won't be as accurate as real life, because theres far more calculaitons going on in any real world situation than any computer game can handle. It's all relative.

I only hope this game is easier to mod and that that the support is better.

The Mod community already does a great job of track and car making.

Oh lookie. A new trailer! :)

Edit: Can't say I'm too impressed of the trailer.
I agree. I'm not impressed as well. It looks too much like GTR. I never really liked the graphics of GTR and GTL, too cartoonish.
GT5 with the goodies of GTR2 and GTL is the max for me. A little of topic but I hope there will be a stand alone USB pedalset with clutch for the DFP. The PS3 has enough USB ports.

I think we can't jugde the sim by just watching the trailer. It looks similar, with more graphical effects though, but as long as we can't actually "play" GTR2 , we can't say anything about the physics engine and stuff.

So let us wait and see (judge)....... :)

I just wish they'd allow a little bit of slide like on LFS. It's either drive clean or take a trip into the barrier in GTR.

@Kikie: :drool:

It's because in GTR your driving road car's with softer suspension, in GTR even the softest setup's are stiffer than any road car's. Stiff is fast but it also means if you do lose it, it's harder to recover. It'd be unrealistic if you could drift around Enna in your Ferrari 575M LM. Like real GT races, make contact and know the other car over the grip limit, they're gone.

It's not for everyone, but it is more realistic for a GT car to behaive that way.

Not to the extent of drifting around Spa, but making the cars feel more in contact and planted on the road (something LFS does extremely well) so you can feel every nuance on the track. Then you could catch slides more intuitively.

According to some people who played GTR2, they do feel more planted, so it's all good!

But strangely I want to see 70+ cars drifting around Monza

the ffb and behavior of the suspension and tires feels alot more realistic and dynamic to me in LFS...I feel really attatched to the car. In gtr i dont get the same feeling. the cockpit and sounds are immersive(but not as informative as the dynamic sound of lfs)... but putting those aside i feel like i'm hovering around ..
I'm wondering if gtr2 will use the newer version of the packja physics engine (yeah i dont know how to spell it....)

GTRacer4
Why  ???
Am I such a bad person, or do I misunderstand that smiley you used???

@ GTRacer4: drifting with a FIA GT car, with those massive slicks??? The setup of these cars and the slicks used on these cars are for the oposite effect; as much grip as possible.
I learned a thing of 2 in that auto training school JESCO where I get private lessons (drifitng, powerslide, car control => defensive and offensive. My instructor likes to play sims as well. I said the same thing to him (about losing a car in GTR and the difficulty of recovering), he said that it has a lot to do with the massive slick tires these cars use.
If you want to drift a little, use very hard tires in the back and very soft tires in the front, less downforce in the back and more in the front or something like that, I think.

I knew it, stupid me!!!!

This wheel makes me  as well. I sold my speed7 pedals to a professional Austrian simracing team (they have a real ex DTM Audi TT car rebuild as a sim race car) and I think this wheel, shifter and pedals are going to be a very good substitute for the expensive BRD things.
I hope GTR, GTL makes it to the PS3. I don't have a pc anymore so I can't play GTR and GTL anymore. Not even LFS and netKarPro.
