It wouldn't be fair to punish anyone who wasn't on time.
2 examples;
All of the work and time masi has put in, it would be wrong to not allow his time to stand. He has spent a week at the hospital.
The stewards haven't had the time to qualify with holding qualifying rooms and testing of the cars.
Anyone who got in on time cannot be knocked out of the series by someone who qualifyed late.
I think that is fair

Then what was the point of having a deadline to start with? You guys already have a free pass so there is no real pressure to run,and yet in 2+ weeks there wasnt 20 free minutes available to run 5 practice laps and qualify?👎👎

If you couldnt be botherered to run in that time then you should have to wait to select a car.Nobody that runs late should get to pick a car before someone who followed the rules and ran before the deadline.

You both have fair points, I can't refute either.
Both ideas were considered before the deadline was extended, and it was decided that because the holidays can be so hectic, the current scenario was a fair compromise between both options.

I'm happy the deadline is extended, if it wasn't then I would have had to wait a whole season to join. Now I have a chance to qualify, so planning to, within a couple of days.

I don't know if I'll be counted as a veteran, as I raced the first season. But I'll qualify nevertheless.

Well, this week has been quite the roller coaster of emotions with my family. Suppose, it's bound to happen when you gather every relative you hardly care seeing outside of the holidays.
