Great Pics Wardster!

But as CSLACR says, do we have 31 or 39 laps?

Whatever the car scored at any given weekend, it stays there and does not carry over if a driver switches cars.

Ok cool, works in favour anyway hehe ;)

Tables looking good, plus i love the little bit of text you do on front page, great read plus makes me laugh a little. Keep up the good work Masi

didnt i get 32 from Nurburgring? not trying to be a 🤬 just asking ;)

The switching of cars had me second guessing my choice. thinking maybe try this or that. However that was a pretty short lived thought. As I had told myself stick with what you know and improve on it. Look at the faster cars. GTR's are there.

So I knew then I needed to improve myself and not even entertain switching.

I'm assuming that's after the latest little episode..?

Anyway, guys (everyone at WSGTC), I've got an idea about our starts.

At the moment, we start the race with the cars on the grid in no particular order (i actually think it's the order that people are in the room, from top to bottom, unless some are out on the track beforehand).
This means that when it comes to the race start, the cars are all in a mixed order. It kind of makes for an unattractive start procedure involving lots of cars jostling to get into their rightful position. This is not only lacking, aesthetically, but also carries with it some risk of damage being incurred.

We don't want this do we?

So...I propose this:

We allow cars into the pit lane using our standard regulated procedure. BUT - before the 'Start Race' button is pressed, we form up on the track (yes, in free run mode) and get ourselves into order.
For a same class race, this simply means getting into grid order as predetermined by the current week's super quali results.
For mixed class, the GT300s arrange themselves into order up front, and the GT500s follow suit behind so that, when it comes to race start time, the GT300s are already ahead of the GT500s and can carry on with the overtake lap. As the GT300s go on their way doing this, the GT500s (already in order) drive to one side of the track to enable an unobstructed way for the GT300s to start the actual formation lap however much time ahead is needed.
The GT500s simply follow suit on their formation and the race goes ahead as normal.

The benefits of this are:

1. A more attractive replay, in keeping with the overall presentation which Masi and all of the admins works very hard to maintain (👍 guys btw).

2. Any damage incurred during this procedure will be reduced to zero for the race, meaning less risk (not completely zero, I know) of damage being incurred during what should be a very easily carried out formation procedure.

I'd really like to know what you think of this idea guys, so please - give some feedback.

If it seems at all complicated, perhaps it's something we could try (as we did for the practice Sarthe start) a while before an actual race is due to start.

Not bad at all Hortus. two key elements is resetting track by changing it and then back and know ones allowed on track till instructed otherwise this can is based off fast lap or farthest around track if no laps recorded.

I had proposed a similar idea where we enter track via starting race. However pause on countdown. Have host or official type out order starting with GT300. And that person unpauses and pulls forward plenty far for others to stack in. Then so on. Non moving Paused cars are ghosted and can't be damaged. so this eliminates the congestion issue.

Either one would be a good process. Yours really let's us concentrate on race cause were stacked from the start. Prefer it.

Absolutely, the resetting of the track would be essential. Just before the regulated entry procedure. Well pointed out.

Question is, is that how it really works in free-run mode?

Also, what's the risk of having frozen black screens (staying on the track when race starts)? I'm not sure if it depends whether you're running on the track at full speed vs staying put?

I'm all for testing it.

Also have an idea meself:
Run a 1 lap test race prior to actual race.
Finish in the reverse order of Official Qualy Results.
So 14th must finish 1st, 13th to 2nd, etc.
Next, set next race to its proper distance (laps)
Then, set starting grid in reverse finishing order from previous race.
Start Race - and we are in order :]
Do parade lap and we're good!
We can even do standing starts if we want to.

Thats a good idea Hortus. 👍

Thanks Kamy :)

To answer your question Masi:

In free run mode, if no cars have put in a timed lap, then the order is decided by the the order of the cars on the track at the time of the start. (anybody who's raced on Nurb in an open lobby will notice that some of the drivers - the smarter ones - will rush out on track knowing they'll start on pole if they get out first and stay there).

Also, black screen issues are something that we have little control over unless we all have wired connections and great broadband/fibre optic services. Even then, it's not guaranteed, we're all familiar with the issues of GT5. Blame PD for that though. But being on track instead of in the pits shouldn't bare any significance to the start.

I do agree being on the track has little or no side effects, I haven't started a race yet without being on the track when started, for what that's worth.

My experience - lag aside - is the same.

We can go ahead and test this tomorrow (Thursday) if we can gather enough people.

What time are we thinking?

FYI: I'm at work and won't be home till about 7ish at the earliest, then I have a league race at about 8pm, though I'll have to be present before that.
So if it's ok with everyone, sometime from 9:30pm onwards?

I'm off to bed but will check back during the day to see people's availability/possible times etc.

Night all

I can't find the race start time anywhere, just countdowns, which are subject to what time they are posted.
Can someone fill me in?
Edit: found it, 19:30 GMT.
Sorry needed to know ASAP. :D

Ok so I would need in by 3:30 EDT (which I think is what we're running now) For a 4:00PM EDT start?
