GTSport Beta Steering Wheel Experience?

This is my first time playing Gran Turismo w/ a wheel, & I'm loving it! I can't see myself returning to a controller. I'm even drifting with it! I even won my fist daily match on the Japanese highway track using it (got my beta code yesterday). Loving this game! I also had practice playing Dirt Rally & DriveClub.

Oh, & it's the Logitech G29. My only quam is the positioning of the PS, Share, & Option buttons.

Its funny that you mention this about the very poor placement of the Option button on the G29. It really is amazing how bad a deisgn it is isn't it? I feel like no one at Logitech has ever actually tried using this wheel in a driving game. Its very easy to hit all 3 buttons with 1 finger, which of course I do all the time. Sounds like you do too. I have never ever wanted to hit the share button, ever. Yet I hit it ALL the time trying to find the option button. I suppose they could have put these 3 buttons closer together, but not much :(

Question for people that are using the T300 what sensitivity setting are you using?
Ive mostly use 2 tq, 3 sense. But I don't tend to run real strong FFB vs others. I want to try varying the settings more at some point.

Just set up a new G29 and all is good. Feels smoother and less notchy than the G27 believe it or not, but the G27 pedals feel sturdier. The brake mod on the G29 pedals is an improvement so the overall comparison is a wash.

I do like the extra buttons on the wheel like the DFGT of yore, but another vote for the poor positioning of the Option button. Everytime I need to exit a screen it's like, "where is it?"

T500. Can be jerky, like it needs smoothing, in corners. Like tire chatter. I am using the same settings as I use in GT6.

Using G29 with clutch and h-pattern shifter. Noticed a bug (driving Hyundia Genesis street car) when I try to shift in to 3rd gear it goes into 4th on the game. Then try 5th and 6th and still shows 4th. 1st and 2nd gear were fine. Shifter works fine with Assetto Corsa
Same here with the ford focus st '15

I thought Katz was going to make the G27 wheels work in Gtsport
He only gave some vague indications about legacy wheels from PS3 working on the PS4, he never gave any specifics. IMO he was referring to the Thrustmaster wheels which are compatible with the PS4.

G29 here after years and years with a G25. FFB is very light in GTS- not just effort, but effects overall. I don't need the wheel to be jerking around in my hands, but feedback is a tool, and there just isn't enough. I'd also like to be able to adjust the ratio- I tend to run higher ratios in PCARS for finer control, and it makes a big difference for me. Ran practice for my GT4 season in PCARS in the Ginetta at the Glen, and after a round of "free" practice and the P1 and P2 in the event, I think PCARS2 is more likely on my list than GTS.

I am driving a Fanatec Clubsport V2 wheel base in GT Sport, through a Cronusmax adapter ... it's working beautifully.

I have weekly competitive online private league races in Gran Turismo 6, with the same group of friends, since about 4 years, now.
Other than that, I currently mostly drive DiRT Rally.
I have very little time in Assetto Corsa and F1 2016, oh, and Project Cars felt like crap.

Only three days with this set-up on GT Sport, so far .... yeah, it's great.

But I was side tracked at first ...
Due to the compatibility issue, I ordered a T300 RS GT, to use until new Fanatec PS licensed wheel is released.
Ordered and installed the T300, and it felt like plastic, but the FF was quite good once i got settings dialed in.
Basic pedal set is lame.
.... And then it croaked after about 100mi in GTS, plus ~ 25k in DiRT, so it got sent back for a refund.
The universe was sending me a sign .... "Pursue a Fanatec solution, Boki", "Go forth and adapt, Boki"

So, I decided to go back to the Fanatec, and had the CronusmaxPlus Adapter in my hot little hands 2 days later.
It's a little fuss to initiate the set-up, but it is running brilliantly.

The FF in GT Sport is a noticeable improvement from GT6, but it's hard to fully quantify, yet.
I am picky, and I am strange, so it's going to take a while to truly judge GTS, but I like it.
Because of the limited cars, tire compounds in races, few circuits in the beta, and because of just the newness of the game, i'm holding back on being too opinionated, yet.

the strength of the FF, at least through my Fanatec wheel, is way more powerful than needed.
I have it dialed down on one of my onboard presets, or it's just too hard on the wrists if you drive a lot every day.

I'm spoiled with the powerful FF from the CSW V2, and the split channels of feedback in DiRT Rally.
I like to turn down the "drama" FF, like collisions and engine vibration, in order that I can more clearly feel the FF channels that are actually informing me of what the car is doing. I turn up the FF aspects that indicate tire slip and spin, suspension, steering rack resistance & centering forces.

One big difference from GT6, is that there does seem to be a fresh distinctness of feedback from different parts of the car, the transmission, and in different behaviours of the chassis over terrain, ... this FF detail, along with the improved audio, really tell you more about what the car is doing ... it's just a small complaint, that on the settings menus, there is no way to fine tune these 'channels'.

ALL. THE. FEELS.

Great post! I have the same set up as you (without the CronsusMax) and have been wondering about GTS compatibility. I do have a T500RS but would prefer it if I didn't have to swap out wheels from my rig. Can you give a little more detail about the CronusMax and how you set it up to use the CSW please?

Two friends of mine bought one, it works flawlessly from what I'm told. Zero latency or lag.

I'm using the Fanatec CSW with Cronusmax, and have no problems with it or noticed any lag with it. I don't believe my H Pattern shifter works though, but I just use the paddle shifters anyways.

Also what degree rotation are you using on your Fanatec? I'm using 540 for mine, and it feels pretty natrual to me. i tried 900, but seemed like I needed to turn the wheel a lot more than normal, than I'm used too.

confirmed that Fanatec wheel works beautifully with Cronusmas except the H shifter. But I believe G29 H shifter has same issue. Hopefully GTS will fix this soon.

It's even more complicated than that on the Fanatec front. When I bought my Clubsport V2 wheel base, the page on the Fanatec site actually featured PS4 support. But they backed away from it as they got into negotiations with Sony on an official wheel.

I have my wheel working on GT Sport Beta with a GIMX setup. Clubsport V2 with the Inverted V3 pedals.

If anyone decides to go that route for their setup, I am happy to help guide. It probably took me 8 hours total to figure everything out and get it working, it's not as easy as you would want it to be. But now that I have it dialed in, it works flawlessly.

Just bit the bullet and ordered a CronusMax +. So if anyone has an idiots guide to get a Fanatec CSW V2 working with it I would be very grateful. Next just gotta hope I get a beta invite!

I have my GIMX+raspberry PnP on post, thought at my price for 8 hour work goes higher than $30, so paid $62 for ready standalone packet. :)
Waiting code, if getting invite then straightaway buying PS4P, I might buy it in next week anyway just for having fun with Dirt Rally, but passing all 0.1toe so called simulators  - buying PC for rFactor2 and skipping all wannabe sims.:dopey:

This was sent to me by a member here when my friend was having trouble getting his set up correctly. These instructions worked like a charm apparently.

You need to set USB HUB up correctly.

THE CRONUS SHOULD BE SET TO RACE MODE

1. PS4, DS4 and WHEEL power must OFF!
2. Power up PS4, DO NOT USE DS4 TO DO THIS!
1. Power up the WHEEL.
2. Connect the DS4 into slot 4 of the USB HUB with the charging cable.
3. Connect the WHEEL to SLOT 1 of USB HUB.
4. Connect the USB HUB to the PS4.
5. Switch the WHEEL TO PS3 mode.
6. Disconnect the USB HUB from PS4.
7. Connect the CRONUS in the PS4
8. Wait for "A" + "U" to be displayed on CRONUS.
9. Connect the USB HUB to the CRONUS
10. When "O" is displayed on CRONUS it is ready.

Mine as well.

What wheel are you using?

With the GIMX, it was still a fair bit of work to get the pedals figured out, that was the main problem.

I am not sure if they would have worked in a "Plug and Play" scenario, as the G27 configurator was the source of the problem. When I tried to calibrate pedals there, they defaulted to both being on 50%. I had to go USB direct to PC and change things in the GIMX config, including some code changes.

What I would worry about, since they were not right in the G27 software, is that I would not be able to get the same setup going with a plug and play solution.

In my view, the risk with plug and play is that you normally have less configuration flexibility.

G27
This plug and play is configurable as yours, it's readymade RPi with teensy on G27/29 fw and boot scripted linux on sd starting GIMX.
Editing ascii file versus gui, no matter to me(basic default setup is enough, if someday want more then just SD to my linux and editing it), it's bare text interface linux, minimal stress to get all resources harnessed on main purpose, running GIMX.

Seems like Steve has bigger demand now, price lifted to $70, I was lucky to get on old price :)

I was close to ordering one of those, but the other factor for me was knowing when I would get it. I was able to order the parts on Amazon and knew I would get them in 2 days vs. hoping for the best. But then I ended up mis-wiring the setup and cooked the cheaper of the 2 parts, had to order another. Once I got the new one, I had the wheel working pretty much right away, but the pedals took a fair bit of time to sort out, and I think that would have happened in any scenario, considering what I ended up needing to do.

Good luck to you on your setup, hope it works out nicely for you. 👍

using G27 w/ Cronusmax. Works like a champ. Only complaint is that the 6 buttons on the wheel face aren't mapped. Not sure if i need to do that in options menu or through the cronus. Not a huge issue, the important things work and i can use the controller to navigate other areas.

With the Cronusmax can you use pedals that are USB only and don't plug in to the wheel? Or can you only use pedals that plug in to the wheel?

I was able to setup my GIMX with Fanatec Clubsport V3 inverted pedals direct to PC on USB.

I had to make some code adjustments to get the correct readings in game, they were initially fully inverted (full off read as 100% on, and vice versa). But they have worked perfectly since making those adjustments.

Thanks for the info. So do you think non Fanatec pedals like PT-1's or Heusinkveld's would work with this adapter?
