[GUIDE] Historic Racing Car Cup

Thanks, got a few cars rusting away in my garage that I will try, how do you get a 2D?

Will need to get that toyota tonnie.

Get a toyota 7 from like the wind b-spex extreme series

That car will work, except for at Monaco (Cote D' Azur) where you will probably need the Chap. 2D. I had a real hard time winning Monaco in the Toyota Race Car and I would imagine most people would have a harder time.

For B Spec, what you need is a Chaparral 2J, it will beat the other cars easily.

For A Spec, many cars will do. It's possible with a Ferrari 512BB which is great as it can be used in other races too. If you need something faster but affordable, tune a Countach or buy a Camaro RM '69.

Hate to be a n00b, but what is the difference between normal camaro from dealership, and rm, and where do i get one?

Yes you do.

Indy 500 A Spec you get XJ13, B Spec you get GT40.

But there's no point in waiting that long.

Oh and RM means Race Modification, all you need to do is take the Camaro into GT Auto and select the option to transform your car into a race model.

You still need to buy parts from the tuning shop though to get the car to become fast enough.

You dont/cant win the XJ13?

You win it from A-Spec Indy 500. In B-Spec Indy 500 you win the slightly inferior, but still capable Ford GT40 Race Car '69. To beat the historic races in B-Spec a Chaparral 2J Race Car '70 is necessary and it is very difficult to win with anything else on the second course (Toyota 7 Race Car '70 should do). For A-Spec, save up for one of the premium historic race cars (20 million credits, XJ13 > 330 P4 > Mark IV after tuning) or better yet, win the Toyota 7 from B-Spec Like the Wind. The Toyota 7 is the best performing historic race car, followed by the 2J.

What does the RM do, other than make it look awful?

Installs a few upgrade parts (fully customizable transmission, fully customizable suspension, titanium racing exhaust pipe) and it installs aero kits allowing you to adjust downforce. Race modding a car will make it corner faster.

Thanks, doesn't seem like its worth 200k though :/

It's the prize for winning the Indianapolis 500 endurance in A-spec

Oh right I thought people were talking about the American championship. Anyhow, I wont be doing the Indy endurance untill the mid save update as I dont really have the patience.

Toyota 7 for A and B spec easy

This continues to be one of the most blatantly ignorant suggestions in the history of GT5 forums.

Contrary to popular misconception, the Toyota 7 isn't a winning car for B-Spec at Cote de Azure for all players. Many players have experienced troubles with Bob's programming, whereby he repeatedly insists on driving the Toyota 7 right into the armco at the Nouvelle Chicane. For these players it doesn't matter how much they upgrade the Toyota 7, how wonderful their tuning setup, what level Bob is on, or what instructions they give Bob. He just keeps eating the armco with the Toyota 7. For any player experiencing this problem, the only solution is to give him the Chaparral 2J instead.

Some players managing it with the Toyota 7 doesn't mean all players can do it. You know those commercials that put a disclaimer that "results may vary"? Well, that's definitely the case here. Results experienced by some players aren't options for other players in this case.

The car you choose is not as important as the positioning of the cars on the grid.

Since this is random, sometimes you get fast cars at the front = no win. Other times you get slower ones which you can quickly overtake that keep the faster cars from gaining on you.

At deep forest the toyata 7 and 2j are you enemies. If you get a 7 near the front, it is almost impossible to win.

At CDZ I found the 2d and 2J were my nemesis.

Find a combo of cars that you can beat, then you can gold both events.

* I used a 700+hp cobra.

It's only a couple of hours. True, it's pretty boring.

Use the pit stops to grab some time out.

After failing with the AC Cobra and Lambo LP400 I decided to move on and come back to it later. However not so long after that I won a Toyota 7 from a race so it was all good.

Used my 2D I've won from 1000 ticket, was pretty easy in ASpec.
In BSpec I had to use 2J, because of Bob's programming.

In my case I played almost all the way through GT5 with a controller than started from the beginning when I got my wheel. The first time through I won it with my Cobra and I remember it being a tricky race but not super hard. Now doing it again I've never even come close in the Cobra. I've been using the Lambo LP400. I have it fully modded though I didn't get a wing. I think it is winnable with what I got with 5 near perfect laps; I've gotten in 1st before but always lost the position after spinning or overshooting a corner. I'll try it with the wing tonight. The other series that is kicking my butt is "Like the Wind" I got gold in one race and the best I managed was 2nd silver in the Indy race. I tried the Furai which wasnt' fast enough and being so light got knocked around way too much by other cars. The Escudo is what got my my silver but that was one lucky race. I have $5M in the bank so I might just buy a formula gran turismo.

I used the Zonda R for both "Like The Wind" A-spec events. Pretty much stock except I had to increase the transmission top speed for Indy so it wouldn't top out. I didn't pass the lead car until the final lap and had to block him on the straight so he wouldn't get the win. Probably not fast enough for your Bob to do it in B-Spec but its a fun challenge for A-spec. For Indy, I think I passed the lead car at the very beginning of the last lap and I pulled far enough away through the infield to prevent him from drafting me. FYI, the Zonda R can be won by golding the B-Spec Professional GT World Championship so you may already have it.

I'm still waiting for a 2J to come by in the UCD for B-spec, won a-spec easily with a XJ-13. Toyota 7 keeps crashing at côte d'azur after the tunnel and in the last corner.

Not necessarily. It might have to do with the experience, or learning level of the BOB.

When I first tried b-spec, I was frustrated with BOB, with him hitting the armco, so I exited out of the race before completion.

Went on to complete the rest of b-spec, finally got back to this race, the only race in b-spec I hadn't won yet.

Luckily, one of my level 24 tickets got me a second Toyota-7.

Regardless, now with racing softs, I decided to try again, wiht BOB at class 40.

First lap, BOB gets himself up into decent position, I want to say second or third place, but he runs into the armco. :ouch: Drops back to about 7th, but gets going, taking care of business, passing the cars that got by due to his crash.

Second lap, he's almost on the leader's tail, hits the armco again. :ouch::ouch: I'm cussing, you dumb ________ ________. But he only falls to 5th this time.

Gets back up to the leader, hasn't passed him yet, but on the third lap, for the third time, into the armco. :ouch::ouch::ouch: But due to the distance between himself and the rest of the pack, manages to remain in 2nd place.

Catches the leader, and then passes to take first place.

Fourth lap, you can guess... :ouch::ouch::ouch::ouch: But he manages to maintain 1st place.

Fifth lap. What? No armco? You don't say? BOB finally learned. Or finally pulled his head out of his arse.

Won pulling away.

I don't know what made me let him continue the race after the first armco experience, but he finally learned something.

My Bob did it too. I just instructed him to pace down before it and he won it on the second attempt with the Toyota7.
