The panning modes was of great help. I hadn't messed with them and now that I know exactly what technique each is, I am excited to get back into some "race photomode"

Thanks for the write up, I will surely send others this way.

It seems like the GT5 camera only produces background blur when the car/object you are focusing on is very close to the camera. I tried lowering the f/stop number as much as possible, even to 1, and it doesn't produce a good background blur if the car is farther away. I tried on Ahrweiler (trains) and Ahrweiler (the one with the courtyard and big building). It also seems like some part of the car has to be in the center of the image but that spoils the idea of the shot I'm trying to take.

Now, how did this guy (Shiparch) get this image of the Italia with such good blur?

Thanks

Sorry I didn't answer sooner. But you simply have to step down the aperture, where the car is on the image doesn't really matter, as vikonic explained, you just have to focus where you want to, and you can reset the camera to place the car where ever you want. I just finished the section on focal lengths, which might help explain blurs at far distances.

i would love if you take a peek on my flickr album and give me some feedback.

Overall, pretty good, good compo, good focus, good blur, keep it up.

I'll be using this for sure! Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback! You're welcome.

Thanks for the recommendation! It's much appreciated.

So I finally got around to writing up the focal length section, sorry about the delay guys. I feel like PD here lol, just been busy. But I'm done schoooooool now for good and I should have more time on my hands! ...should lol.

Glad to know it helped.

Verry usefull, maybe now my pics will be better. thanks a lot!

Maybe? For sure they will be! lol

An Absolutely fabulous guide, has seriously helped me finally make atleast half of my photographs look decent. Would just like to know what you guy's think of my gallery so far. Please critique in any way. Thankyou and once again superb guide! Here my Gallery http://www.flickr.com/photos/kashifamin/

Some of your photos of black cars are slightly overexposed, otherwise, they're good, keep at it.

Good stuff, great work!

Thanks =D

how to export/make full hd photo?
cant find settings

All photos come in 'HD' technically. They're all 1080 pixels tall at minimum. Simple export the photos from the game, to the PS3 XMB, then to a USB flash drive.

Awesome post, kudo's to you Sir! 👍

Thank you 👍

Ok, so after much Polyphony styled delay, I've added the Composition section, and the "realism" section. Both of which still require a heck load of review and editing... and I do mean a lot, so forgive me if it seems sloppy lol.

Very nicely done sir. I have been looking for an explanation of the GT5 camera and I don't think it could've been done any better. Great work with the visual aids 👍

Just finished reading the new update on composition, really good explanation, it explains the rule of 3 very well, when I first read about it a year or so ago, it took me ages to find out what it truely ment as the explanations I was getting were really poor.
Also I totally agree with this:

Now, if you haven't noticed already, the most popular thread in this GT5 Photography forum is the "Realistic Photo Thread", unfortunately, I'm part of the group of people who find that 80% of the images aren't in the slightest bit realistic.

Great Guide and explanations of real life photography and very nice album on Flickr by the way!! The aperture works very nice on food. I'll have to give it a try myself.

Absolutely immense guide. i know you say you only do photography as a hobby and 100% self taught, and your very good at it, perhaps your real forte is teaching...all very nicely explained.

thank you for putting a lot of time into this guide.

Brilliant work GTSomething! I can't wait to get stuck into this.

Photo mode never interested me before but after a little dabble on it and seing some of the stuff people are getting I'm looking forward to catching some shots of my Lancia Delta.

That shot of the back end of a Skyline in the tunnel is awesome. (The one in the part on centering)

Unbelievably helpful guide. Haven't looked in this forum in ages so I'm a bit late. Thanks for posting.

Big thanks to gtsomething. 👍

I wasn't that much into photomode before reading this... After reading the guide I deleted 90% of my old pictures and ended up making new improved versions of the 10% that had somekind of idea in them :)

Haven't stopped taking photos since. Getting bit addicted... :dopey:

Nice thread, also I took this this year... looks a lot like the one from the section on panning! ... goes to show how accurate the gt5 camera really is...

Just thought I'd say. This is the most realistic image I have seen in a long while !!!

Fantastic OP and really opened my eyes to what is possible. I feel like deleting my gallery and starting all over again :D

But maybe I'll keep it so I can look back on my progress.

Thanks 👍
