Well ran another GV300 last week, and now a with the Bspec seasonal running -I have write up time.

I chose to find a very big challenge this time, running the 86 GT at only 420pp and looking for an NSX Type R in the grid!

Full spec to come. but

Power 201 Bhp Weight 1092

Starting Tyres. S:S
Aids ABS 1 - nothing else!
[Minor confession, I do have the driving line on in my previous runs, I am weaning myself off it for 2012...]

GRID (11th or 12th grid! - Looking for NSX R type)

A.Nakago----------NSX Type R '02
M.Butler-----------350Z GT 4Ltd (Z33) '05
D.Murphy----------Legacy B4 Blitzen '00
S.Guthrie----------Mazdaspeed Atenza '05
H.Clement---------Aristo V300 '00
F.Magnuss---------Celica GT-four RC(St185) '91
GTP_MALC01-------86 GT '12
R.Hannula----------RX-7 Type RS(FD) '98
D.Blevins-----------IMPREZA Coupe 22B-STi Version '98
M.Vettle(!)---------Legacy Touring Wagon GT-B '96
B.Jean-------------NSX '97
S.Prevost----------GTO Twin Turbo MR '95

So there it is, the NSX type R '02 - The toughest competition this event offers?
On pole no less! Plus another NSX and the RX-7 Type RS..

So on with the race :)

11.119s down end of lap 2 on the NSX R Type

Most of the grid in order, but

B.Jean in the NSX '97 has also gained spots, upto 7th

F.Magnuss has dropped out of the top 8, no sign of M.Vettle or the 22B-STi yet ;)

R.Hannula RX-7 Type RS rounds out the top 8...

Race is on, going to be hard to catch the NSX R !

END LAP 10
Im 2nd by 35.603 [Race time 22:34]
so loosing 3.5s a lap and on tyres that will only go another 10 laps I guess
{very close to half lost on fronts,loads left on rears though... consdering S:H for next stint}

B.Jean up to 3rd and must be close to the 350z (they did briefly change places, but must have been an incident!)

So running order 1/6th Race distance

A.Nakago-----------NSX Type R '02
GTP_MALC01-------86 GT '12
M.Butler------------350Z GT 4Ltd (Z33) '05
B.Jean-------------NSX '97
R.Hannula----------RX-7 Type RS(FD) '98
H.Clement----------Aristo V300 '00
D.Blevins-----------IMPREZA Coupe 22B-STi Version '98
D.Murphy-----------Legacy B4 Blitzen '00

By end of next lap B.Jean had overtaken the 350z...

And chasing me down!... (not on my map yet though)!

Clear I'm not winning this, but will continue, want to see if the NSX and its R type pit once or twice,
and get race times for them both, plus I will try something, going S:M front and S:S rears for next stint....

End Lap 19
2nd to the R type by 1.18.156,

B.Jean, down to 6th - Must have pitted,
R.Hannula in 3rd but not in sight, should be ok to pit this lap and stay 2nd.

Fronts a very very shot, last couple of slivers, rears not even half gone!
Need to look at set up, brake bias (havent set up race adjustments yet!
Miss matched tires - trying S:M / S:S when pitting this lap [Lap 20]. (No fuel)

Race time 46:01.316 (20 laps)

End Lap 21 2nd by 2:00.513

The RX-7 not far behind me, buy may yet pit??

End lap 24 2nd by 1.47.541,
also B.Jean is back to 4th,
M.Butler 5th
D.Blevins 6th,
D.Murphy 7th, and S.Prevost 8th..

End lap 25 2nd by 1.20.949 - the NSX-R pitted?..
(about 20s recovered... so yeah looking at my loss..)

End Lap 26 2nd by 1.27.234.. !
Tires holding up much better, but I am missing the grip from the S:S Fronts,

Lap 29 - R.Hannula pits, B.Jean into 3rd...

END LAP 30
2nd by 1.44.270 RACE TIME 1:09:11.049

Lap 35

2nd by 2:13;393 - and the race leading NSX-R right on my tail...
I hold him best I can for a lap or so, but then let him go...

No sight of B.Jean in 3rd... R.Hannula Back up to 4th...

Lap 40 Pit

S:S Front and rear, 5 ltrs fuel, just in case!...

Saved:

End Lap 50;

RACE TIME 1:55:41.332

And after 2 big errors the 3rd place NSX (B.Jean) is on me!
[So it too must have pitted twice - an earlier grid had two NSX on it, would have been a good race vs them :) )

End Lap 52;

Passed a pair of back markers, now between me and B.Jean in the 3rd place NSX, will keep me safe :)

End Lap 60

RACE RESULT :)

GV300v3 by Malc01, on Flickr

RACE TIME - 2:18:54 = 2.19 Avg Lap time over the whole race.
Only 2 pit stops, again could have tried a 3 stopper, 15,30 and 45... on F & R S:S all the way

So 4 mins slower then the NSX Type R, which may have only pitted once - need to be closer to be sure!
About 4 seconds a lap faster than me and the NSX which pushed me to the end...

Not sure which way to go next;
a) Higher PP vs the NSX Type R, or
b) a touch lower verses the grid with two NSX - '99 and '01 (I think)

Or is it time for a new challenge? the 4hr Nurb awaits?...
