Since I started on GT4 I didn't like the new GVS. I was very good on the other one and a crap here... now, everything is going to change!
GT 300 takes on bigger brothers GT 500 and Touring Cars from Germany!! :dopey:

Car used: RE-AMEMIYA ASPARADRINK RX-7 JGTC '04 (stock, oil)
335 BHP - 35.17 kgmf - 1100kg - FR
slightly tuned stock suspension (stiffen, camber) and tranny (shorten)

Field:
1 - Abt Audi TT-R Touring Car '02
2 - Mercedes CLK Touring Car '00
3 - Nissan Xanavi Hiroto GT-R JGTC '01
4 - Honda Takata Dome NSX JGTC '03
5 - Toyota Esso Ultraflo Supra JGTC '04

And the race starts:
laps 1,2: pass NSX on the hairpin, and the Supra entering the 1st tunnel at 2nd lap. Clean moves, no contact! :)
lap 3: overtake GT-R on 3rd and 4th corners, before the hairpin (the AI is really slow here!!). Mercedes is left behind on the entering the back straight (a little bit of blocking inside the tunnel ensures she stays behind :) ).
laps 4,5: can't reach the Audi with time dropping from 1'57s to 1'56.
laps 6,7: 1'56.3 and 1'55.7 and STILL drafting him on the straight. 1s behind.
lap 8: and finally got him under braking for the hairpin in a beautiful move! He tries to come inside on the 2nd tunnel but braking late for the S's leaves me with my position. 1'57.1 lap because of the fight.
1'55.7 on 9th lap, now I should start make faster laps...

laps 10-12: two 1'56 and 1'55.5 sees me with 4s lead.
lap 13,14: 1'55.9 and 1'55.6 lead still 4s. NSX pits in. My tyres are starting to go orange, but i'll try to wait everyone pits to do mine.
-What happens on lap 15. Everyone pit's togheter! At the end of the lap it's my turn, a bit of fuel and new rubber. 29 mins into the race.
-In the lap after the outlap (17) my lead is 14s. Can't get the infield before 1st tunnel right... must watch those tall curbs! :scared:
-Damn. Can't get a lap better than 1'56.3. Lead is dropping to 11s!

-Lap 22 already and until now every lap was inside the '56s. At least my lead is static at 11-12s. Consistency is there, but fast laps are not.
-Lap 22 and 23: 1'56.0 and 1'56.1 Nice!! FACT: last plac NSX should be less than 30s behind. Until now it's a close race to everyone. If I spin and I might lose the lead!! :ill:
-And WOW! big fishtailing entering the hairpin... almost spun, almost touch the sand! Even so, 1'55.8 shows up. How could it be without that near miss?
-1'55.7 :) lead 13-14s. It's getting better! :dopey:
-Lap 26 sees another 1'55.8 NOW I'M ON IT. Lead 13.7s. NSX pits already
-1'56.0. lead 15s... his tyres must be going!
-Lap 28: 1'55.555 hehehe. :) Everyone pits togheter again. Me too.
-Lap 31: 1'56.7, 24s lead.

38th lap. Until now uneventful. All laps on the '56s range. FACT: last place NSX is exactly 1 minute behind.
-...NSX pits in already! ??? ending his 39th lap... ???
-Lap 42: 1'55.538.
-The others pits. I'm tempted to do one more lap but fuel is in the redzone. Should I risk?? No... EWW! Fuel was less than 10 units...!
FACT: apart from the outlap and two '55s, I've done all 12 laps in the '56s range. Consistency? Still not fast as I wish...:guilty:

-Lap 50 already. Lead is static in 29-31s. Since pit stop fuel is worrying me, a stop-and-go might be a possibility. :ill:
-Lap 53, enough of those boring 1'56 laps! I'm gonna push it but..EH?? NSX in the pits? uh-oh...
-On the lap 55 slow down to avoid contact with him on the infield results in '57 time. 27s lead. And fuel is looking bad!! Might end on the last lap if I'm correct! :scared:

-Noooo! :ouch: They pit on lap 56! But I won't! Damn this AI. Screwed the later half of my race! Now i'm pissed... :grumpy:
-Tried break the record in the final 3 laps. Well... 1'55.225 :sly: somewhere but two '57. Screwed twice in the final turn putting 2 wheels on the grass. Twice! :ouch:

Total time: 1'58'24. 400k richer. 200 A-Spec.
Conclusion: this track rocks! Very technical, hard to perfect those infield turns and two sweepers that demands a precise throttle control!
Good race overall (very very clean), could be MUCH BETTER if the AI wasn't so.. that. Now i'm playing better than before on this track. All the 80 laps (testing+race) and not one single spin or wall crash (at least hard ones).

Hope you enjoyed it! Leave a comment!! See ya next time.. 👍

Nice report. 👍 Sounds like some good clean racing fun! What was the final margin of victory (MOV)?
Definitely a quality post, but I haven't given enough rep elsewhere to credit you again apparently, just repped your "zone" post yesterday. ;)

Thank you man!

The 2nd place was little more than one minute behind on my last lap. If I had pitted with them, I guess it would be 40-50 seconds.

One strange thing I noticed is, racing here with a GT500 machine I got the same tyre wear, even with the fact the RX-7 had 200 BHP short... Maybe it was too much camber...

I've got to take my hat off to you dkstz , I've tried this race twice and can't keep up with the Xanavi GTR. The best I can manage is 13 laps with R2 tyres and 15 with R1's but they hurt the lap times , 1, 56 seems to be the best I can do on them. Sure is fun chasing 3rd and 4th placed cars though ! Some real close racing there.

You must be a real smooth driver , I assume you're using R1 tyres ?

I'm going to keep practicing smooth , clean laps at GV , I'm gonna get this !:dunce:

Cheers

Yeah, I was on R1.
From the testings I remember that, there's one Xanavi GTR (not the one I raced against) that was faster than me. And the Pitwork Z, and both RX-# LM...:scared:

In this track there are two places that you can gain a little time on the AI. One is the 2nd and 3rd corners (before the hairpin), the other is the tunnel exit to the bridge. The AI takes too long to floor it here...
And in the last corner they slow down a bit, more than needed. 👍

Keep trying... it's all about practice. The car can surely provide a lot of fun, but the power disavantage is a bit :indiff:
