I think GTP tends to have more non-religious active members so I'm not really surprised at the low number of posts.

It's still to early to really say anything about Pope Francis though, I know he wants to do good things but so do most men in a seat of power. I really hope he gets the Church back in order though as they've really been hit hard by a ton of scandal. He really needs to work hard to get the sex abuse under control first and foremost.

It's a gaming forum. What do you expect?

There's over 10,000 posts in a thread about your belief in God. There are clearly members interested in things other than gaming.

This, and 64 to nearly 4000 is a massive difference. 1.2 billion followers yet apparently only 50 odd are on here.

How many Playstation posts would you be likely to find on a typical religious studies forum? Somehow I suspect the ratio would be somewhat wider than it is here.

Also it's possible, likely even, that a number of members of this forum have chosen to post about it on a religion forum rather than here.

It's not just that this is a gaming site that makes up for the marginal interest this thread gets, the church as an institution has been losing it's power to influence people more directly for the past decades.

I presume it also has to do with demographics, since this site is American and majorly frequented by the British, if this site was hosted in a language from a major roman catholic nation, like Italy or Brazil, response would be tremendously different. As it would be if there was a new Archbishop of Canterbury being discussed.

I agree with you on that. And on that note, I think Pope Francis is gonna do a great job in his new position. Best of luck to him.
