Hey guys. I've been thinking of an event idea for awhile now and after thinking the details through, here's what I have to pitch:

"Tsuchiya-spec" Hot Version

So from what I gathered about the Drift King's precious AE86 (useful link to sum up research), I decided to test with an AE86 in GT6 what PP his car would be running. Because his car is moderately but finely tuned, I decided to match as many parts and settings as I could work with. Unable to find the exact weight of his car, I resorted to use the very similar Shigeno 86's "stock" weight of 825kg. That means he runs a p/w ratio of approximately 4.71kg/hp and would technically sit around 425PP as it reads in the game.

That being said, I built up not long ago a '90 S13 K's to match in PP as well as p/w ratio and made a hell of a ride. "So why not have an event based around these specs?" I say.

I saved a Gunsai touge Eifel course that would be great for this. I'd picture the regs looking like: no driving aids except no ABS, p/w ratio of 4.70kg/hp minimum, 425pp maximum, comfort: soft tires and a maximum engine displacement of 2000cc.

Some good cars for this event would include such as Silvia, Civics, Corollas/Sprinters, MX-5 Roadsters... pretty much the cars that sit around or under 400pp as bone stock.

We could have it set as a bracket tournament style event where 2 contestants battle it out at a time while the others watch and wait for their turn (unless they already went) to keep things random and interesting. For the runs, we can employ the 3 second rule and run the course all the way around until the home straight where roles can easily be switched as you roll towards the starting line just down the way, also following the classic Best of 3 rule.

This is just a detailed basis of what could really happen should this be made into something (if picked up), but what do you guys think? We usually do Wangan here, so this should be a nice way to wind down (kinda) from high powered monstrosities to fine handling mountain carvers, while also getting some good competition in the mix.

I'll discuss it with the other hosts, I think it's possible it'll happen, but we'd mainly need to know how many people are willing to enter/be avalible on the event day.

The other issue is balancing. Some of the cars that sit at 425 max have exceptional handling, such as (dare I say it?) the Schwimmwagen.

Right you are. However, the neat thing about the regs I suggested: 425pp makes the "exceptional" cars either unusable or awkward. Take the S2000 line. All S2000s run above 425pp, save for the 2006 AP2 model at 423PP. If one were to oil change it, it goes up to 431PP, so you wouldn't be able to do that, so instead of that potential 247HP, you're stuck at the stock 238HP, then with the few kgs you can shed while staying at or under 425PP (looks to be a mere 31kg), you'd still be at a p/w ratio of 5.12kg/hp. However, it's a 2.2L so it can't even COMPETE altogether. Then while you have others such as the ZN6/ZC6s, NC Roadster, and DC5 Integra Type Rs, remember these around-400pp or more cars will, power-wise, use probably an exhaust and MAYBE a level 1 engine without weight reduction, or probably like 50kg with no power added. Meanwhile, that nifty AW11 sitting in the dark corners of your garage at 353PP stock can have its whole body and engine redone to drastically change its driving behavior to your preferences. Also remember that some cars in GT utilize SH tires A LOT better than others *coughNA2-Rcough*, but are essentially knocked down to the "lesser cars' " levels once they're fitted with CS. They'll all feel slippy and heat up faster just about the same.

Unless I'm missing something from my lenghty explanation there, I think it's pretty solid.

EDIT: Took the liberty of listing all possible likely-to-be-used cars under these regs:
  • Honda Civic
  • Honda CR-X
  • Honda Fit
  • Honda Integra
  • Mazda RX-7 FC
  • Mazda MX-5/Roadster
  • Mazda RX-8 ('03 and Type E '03 models only)
  • Mitsubishi FTO
  • Mitsubishi Lancer EX 1800GSR IC Turbo
  • Nissan 180/200/240SX
  • Nissan SILEIGHTY
  • Nissan Silvia
  • Nissan Skyline (GT-R models KPGC10 thru R31, GTS-t models only)
  • Scion FR-S
  • Subaru BRZ S

This doesn't even include a bunch more "less popular JDM", EDM, KDM, or USDM.

And does this hold true for the Schwimm and Kubel wagons?

Tsuchiya's super street 86 weighs a little over 900 or 910kg
Well then... :ill:

I suppose we'll have to drop them down to p/w of 5.14kg/hp and 405PP then.

Ok. LET'S JUST SAY we keep it at that: 910kg and 200PS (197HP but we'll round up). 420PP limit, 4.55kg/hp p/w ratio limit.

We could still use the first spec you brought up, to allow some tuning

I actually like the regs where they're at now. Same car lineup as the first set, but an even tighter tuning cap. Besides, I'd like "Tsuchiya-spec" to be as accurate and orderly as possible.

@ShinkaseiZero is a genius.

I'm looking forward to this, shall it ever happen.
Possibly entering with a Sprinter or a Fit (early model).

EDIT: Found out the Fit has a CVT, so now I'm entering with a MR-S V-Edition (6MT).
