Man all night i've been having problems with the internet I guess I can't blame bungie since my friends' connection was fine but mine was at one red lonely bar. It was terrible then after when I tried to fix it I couldn't get into a Team Slayer match for the life of me just kept searching, and searching and searching. So I just played campaign. So far it's been epic but so far the most epic thing is:

Has anyone else found the singleplayer to be a bit short and relatively not all that smooth? It seems to jump from topic to topic relatively quick, and seems to lack some progression that existed in the previous versions.

Uh... yeah, and I also think they fell off their high horse if you ask me... Smokin a bit too much. I mean it was bad enough in Halo 2 but good lord.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was Bungie's next project.

I wouldn't be shocked either, but my guess is that we've got to wait for Pete Jackson's game first. The jury is still out on what exactly that is, but you never know.

I still haven't finished Halo 3, but my brother (who is a douche and beat it on easy) says it was a pretty good one. I would hope they can do a Star Wars/Star Trek thing and have a fair number of adaptations of the franchise. I'd love to have a game or two (besides Halo Wars) that takes place before the first game, and that being said, titles that take place after Halo 3. We'll see I suppose...

I'm sorry you feel that way fanboy, but I was actually being general to not spoil anything for people. Anyway, So people liked playing though someone's anus while they're pissed off, randomly freezes gameplay to listen to them talk about how they are going to kill you but never do, and having Kortana randomly show up on screen to tell you some worthless intel?

I'm sure if this were any other game people would agree but since it's HALO3 well anything is good. lame...

Single player = no. Multiplayer = yes, by far.


My favorite gun so far is the new Mauler. That or the Spiker. Gotta love the shotty though. One shot + melee ftw

The hayabusa armor is sweet. I unlocked the chest and shoulder pieces today. I got all the normal skulls, but it didn't unlock the helmet, so I think I've gotta get all the silver skulls to get the helmet. My GT is MrBigglezwerth if any of you guys wanna have a go at getting the skulls or a few friendly rounds

Favorite gun? Gotta be (multiplayer) the Sniper Rifle. I used to suck at it in Halo 2 but I don't know why but i'm aiming so much better in Halo 3, most of my kills are 2 shot body shot kills but still. I get a good amount of headshots too, those are always fun.

Yikes, well if I had to choose between the Battle Rifle and the Assault Rifle in a close range battle I'd choose the Assault Rifle, but in Halo 2 I'd always prefer the BR. It seems as if they nerfed the BR somehow or I just don't like the feel of it but I just suck with it now. I'll go all nerdy on you guys, my combo choice depending on the map would have to be a SRS99D-S2 AM + BR55HB/MA5C.

The Assault Rifle is actually well balanced in this game - it's definitely a solid standby.



Better than Gears of War? Yes and no. It's not as gritty or fantastic looking as Gears, but it's far more robust in features and multiplayer. They both have their place as two of the finest 360 titles available.

I prefer Gears of War single-player wise... one of a few games I could play over and over. And the graphics are better.

Multiplayer wise, Halo 3 is better in many areas - huge maps and choice of weapons and vehicles, all the recordable replay stuff, and many other things Gears of War doesn't have. But in all honestly, I still find, if you're with a really good team, Gears of War still cuts it for overall competitiveness.

LOL thanks for the comments guys. I never liked halo 1 or 2, although I never played them online. Im not too big into shooters but loved GoW hence my apprenhension in buying a game I may not like.

I will occasionally switch it out for the SMG/Spiker combo, but that is becoming increasingly rare now.

I've disproven this one myself. I pulled direct-feed screenshots from online, and they're pixel-for-pixel at 720p. Zero upscaling of any kind.

I refuse to believe BS like this (which started out on sonydefenseforce.com, by the way) over my own eyes.

I'd rather someone HERE ran the test on their own TV and told us which way it goes, hm?

I can't confirm it by counting pixels, but I know my TV will display which resolution it is running at if it ever has to change to a different format. Thus far, I can't recall it doing so when playing Halo 3.

...If the post would have been "Hey look at this, what do you make of it?" instead of "ZOMG TEH XBOX SUX AGAINZ," my guess is that the reception to it would have been a bit more positive and worth discussion. Thumbs down, man. We know you hate Halo 3, we get it, don't need to solidify it any more...

Counting pixels is incredibly difficult. Just because the game doesn't use any high-end AA doesn't mean it's not running at 720. I ran it myself a minute ago (wandering around the Forge mode), and it looks very much like 720p to me. But, in my case, I'd be counting pixels because I have a 1080p display. And counting pixels is more difficult than these fools would have you believe, because each pixel on a HDTV is, in fact, THREE pixels (Red, Green, Blue). It's quite easy to lose track, especially when each set of three pixels is barely half a millimeter across (in the case of my TV, at any rate).

One thing I found interesting is that one of the postings mentions a "720p native" display. The problem is, there's no such thing. I don't think I've ever seen a TV that actually has 720 vertical pixels. They all have 768. The picture that was posted on the forum of this apparent "720p native" display looks exactly like the game running on my 1080p display. Which means the TV they're using is probably defaulting to a 1080i input, which is then downscaled to 768 on the TV. Hence the similarities to what I see, with the 720 input scaled to 1080.

Sadly, it will be difficult at best to take photos, as my camera is extremely old and glitchy and probably won't focus properly when placed an inch away from the screen, even in Macro mode. I'm sure someone here has a better setup for taking photos. Can I interest anyone with a 1080p display to take photos of the game? With a nice sharp edge to look at, with visible TV pixels? Or perhaps a 768 TV?
