To be more specific, Muslims don't eat from sunrise to sunset. You basically have to pig out in the morning and evening.

True it's best to maintain a consistent meal cycle so that your body doesn't get thrown off, but people of other cultures who have the privilege to eat 3 meals a day don't even do a good job of taking care of themselves.

From a disciplinary perspective, I think a day long fast (maybe not sunrise to sunset) would be a great way to conserve food and build tolerance to hunger and snacking impulses.

Now I would love to build a tolerance to hunger and impulse eating.

And would be a good way to be thankful that you can have access to the food all the time by going through the day-long fasting and thereby learning how hard it would be to be patient with the hunger and snacking impulses for a long period of time.

I'll be celebrating with my Muslim friends this Saturday as we're going to have a group feast at work.
