It's probably 🤬

1953 was the last time the Water Snake came around. I'm a Rooster. Snakes and Roosters get along don't they?

What the hell is that!?

I just had 2 Chinese people come check it out and said it's a made up word!

:dunce:

You mean you never received any from your Chinese relatives? Or maybe it's a Cantonese/Hong Kong thing.

Edit: It's also called 紅包, which is probably the name you go by.

Is this Earth Snake year? Because that's my year, dog!

Ah, I was trying to translate to Mandarin, it must be Cantonese, that's why my friends didn't understand

. The red envelopes, I be givin' em, not receiving. :grumpy:

Ah, it's almost the time when a lot of confectionery is consumed and people start thinking about how much money should be put in the red packets. :dopey:

Here's my early greetings to all of you around the world:
我祝大家新年快樂, 身體健康, 萬事如意!
(Translation: May I wish all of you a happy new year, good health and good luck!)

Looking forward to the Lunar New Year holiday starting a week later.

"I've had enopugh of these snakes on my... calendar!"

Happy new year, Shemster!

"Gon hay fat choy".....Do you mean "gong xi fa cai"? (or something similar)

When I was little, I used to see "Gong Xi Fa Ca" and I said to myself "Wait that's not right!"

I eventually learned though.

That said, I'm glad it's next weekend and not this weekend because I'm pressed to get some homework done for this week.

"I've had enough of these mother- snakes on my mother- calendar!"

I am so using that line at the end of the year.

Well, it's official now, so...

Happy Chinese New Year!

I'm off down into the city to go watch the celebrations show, then into my fave restaurant for a feast and some beers... Happy New Year!
