the GT library of cars is definitely impressive. but a huge question still hangs since GT1 is where are the important marques such as ferrari, porsche, lamborghini, etc.

We've been over that a thousand times over and a thousand times again.. PLEASE don't bring it up here yet again.

I'm also happy Holden is in, I hope that's the start of a good relationship with Sony and that the entire range of Holdens and HSV's can make GT5 as well as some of the old Classics, I would love to race an A9X torana in bathurst spec in GT5, that would make my year. I think we need to get in touch with Holdens marketing guy and let our feelings be known : ).

When it all comes down to it Holden are the only link in the General motors chain still making somewhat decent muslce cars and they have to be well represented in the best car game : )!. To bad about HSV not being in the game because almost all the their cars can run 0-100 in 5 seconds flat and do a low 13 second 1/4 mile. I guess I could allways modify a stock SS commodore to HSV levels (tested on the drag strip) and then have my own home made HSV.

But I'm sure the FPV cars that are are a bit slower will still smoke most of the Mercedes and BMW's and I wont mind driving a Ford for a moment just to stick it to the Euros : )

Yes and the latest HSV GTO managed to break into the 4 second bracket 0-100kph.

it seems to me that no matter what type of cars are gonna be on the list someone will say hey why isnt that car on the list . think about the guys who make the game and think about the size of the list they had to go through to get the final list. u gotta remember the attention to detail the PD guys go through so that the game is real as it can get thats what the general public want and so does PD.

also PD has to drive all the cars on the list to get the right feel for them so in the game it feels like your driving the real thing but its gotta be hard to find all the cars people want in the game so they have to go with whats avalible thats probably a huge factor in there decision.

I demand more Russian cars!! What about all those Chinese-built wonders??? Not a single car from South America!!!(or Antarctica for that matter).
Sure I'm a little angry at the volume of Skylines, but I think PD has made real progress since GT1 and GT3, and the newly included Europeans (Beemer, MBZ, VW mmmm....) and American cars (albeit not as many as GT2, I think) give nice amounts of variety. With a few exceptions, French and esp. Italian cars have been cannon fodder in recent games. I hope those take on some good variety (I love the '71 Alpine) 👍

That's quick, but you know the other day at the local 1/8th mile drag races I saw a blue HSV VZ Maloo Ute get hosed by a 5 Speed 304 VS and an Auto Gen III VT (wich also beat the VS)

VZ Maloo
http://www.hsv.com.au/cars/vz/main.asp?link=main/maloo.html

The Ute was brand new and the guy couldn't drive it properly yet (much wheel spin problems: P ) it did have quite a bit more in it if it was ever going to get traction, but I don't think the original tires were up to the job on the local drag strip because it's just a public road they close for the day and not very sticky.

The HSV ran something like 10.0, 9.5 then 9.1?
The VS manual was running 9.2 and 9.1s all day
The VT Auto, that looked like a grandpa's shopping car ran a mid 8 no problem :)

My friend has a Silvia running 10 pounds of boost and he was running the same times as the stock + extractors VS. Anyway on the first run where the Ute did a 10. and the VS ran off into the distance was very funny for me to watch, but I like the vn-vs, My brother has a white 304 VS manual, it's such a sleeper it's almost invisible

To the creator of this thread, you bring up a nice question.

Personally, I like the range of cars in this game. I normally like to think of GT3 as being an incomplete GT. The complete level of GT3 would surely have to be bigger than GT2 despite having way less cars than GT2. But I think this lineup is better than any other GT so far. I think Korea and Sweden are new to the GT series for GT4, so that kind of ups things a little. Say what you want about Skylines and Evos and such, but the diversity of machinery in this game is very bold and outstanding. Diversity has been one of the biggest pluses for the GT series, and it's more apparent in this upcoming build. Yeah, I'm upset that there's no Ferrari or Porsche or even Lamborghini. That doesn't mean that you still can't have all the fun you want racing in GT. You'll have all sorts of cars from stock to tuned to race-ready. I mean, who WOULDN'T want variety this deep? You can race in convertibles and have the top down. Let's not forget those sweet GT race cars and the potent rally monsters. Hey. 700 cars, 80 different manufacturers, machines ranging from 1886 to the future... sounds good to me. I like the variety. I DIG the variety. Do you?

Its nice to see the Fina McLaren being in, but they really needed to include the original street car and also the LM version as well. Just to further this point, the beauty of the McLaren was that it was designed fully as a street car. To have a street car be so competitive and dominate is just awe inspiring. The Fina is nice, but they forgot to include the roots leading up to the GTR long tail.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

Yea! More McCuties in the future please! :embarrassed:

I really LOVE the variety of cars that GT4 will have. It will sure satisfy and make up the car size dissapointment from GT3. But one thing I am a bit dissapointed on, are those mini-small van thingies! I hope that we dont start off with so little credit that we HAVE to buy those small vehicles. I didn't enjoy driving those in GT Proglue! :embarrassed: Overall, I still admire the big list of cars! 👍

Straight and simple it was made in Japan and that's why the game has the selection of cars that it has. I know that sounds stupid and simple but hey it's true. If you swap the 350Z/Skyline in your sentence for the Firebird/Grand Prix, you'd hear the exact same complaint from Import Enthusiasts.

Yeah I understand that, that's pretty obvious. But sometimes its just hard to get over. Thing is the Grand Prix and Firebird are very popular Pontiac models, the Sunfire I can see why they included but the Vibe isn't that popular at all. It's really an oddball car to pick from Pontiac. I'd at least like to know why the heck they chose what they did, as well as for the other companies that have a small list of available cars (Buick, Plymouth, Aston Martin, Cadillac, Holden).

What I'm really surprised I haven't seen yet is any mention of the 03/04 Cobra.

I am very happy with the cars that are in the game, and while you can’t have everything you want (Mosler, SSC, and Ascari), having anything negative to say about the list of cars just show you how spoiled we have been by the series. If there was no GT (or its influence on other games) we might have never had any game with 100 cars, let alone 700-800.

About the skylines and lancers, while I have no use for more then 3-4 of them, (nor do I have any use for any car with less then 200 HP stock) other people do, so I’m just indifferent to them being in the game, though I would trade them for more tracks if I could.

Happy with the number of cars....
Happy with the list....
Not happy with overload of the same japanese cars, - eg. Why do we need all those different skylines? Surely a few different ones would have done?

I'm just contented with the range of cars that GT4 is offering, but it its still not enough to my liking. And I'm not also offended with tons of Skylines/Lancers/WRX on the GT series, I think its better that way (I like more varieties based on the same car). And I'm always hoping that those elite cars from Italy/Germany emerges to be in GT.

To me what's missing are:

-Sporty cars [Ordinary car primarily based on looks than performance] (like the Mazda Protege5 and the Kia Spectra5 in the US)

- Budget level Sportscars [cars that were widely popular but hasn't been included in GT] (like the Honda Civic SiR sedan in Asia, and the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V in the US)

-Performance SUV's (like the VW Touareg W12 concept, Subaru Forester STi in Japan, and the Cadillac SRX V8 in the US)

-Performance Pickups (like the Dodge Dakota 5.9 R/T in the US, Toyota Tacoma X-Runner in the US, and those pickups from Holden & Ford in Austrailia)

I am very happy with the cars and tracks so far. The huge amount of japanese cars is normal and it is very difficult to satisfy everybody around the world. Australians will like to see more V8 supercars but hey, there are some of these in the game! Americans will like more musclecars, Italians a few more Alfas, Germans a few more ... etc, etc...
The main thing is there are great cars for everybody!
I would have liked more classics and cars that are more or less legendary. PD has made some strange choises here and there and it shows they are not fully aware of foreign carcultures (sorry for my language, here's an example) . While there are some very nice Renaults in the game they also included that ugly Avantime and left the R5 GT TURBO or the CLIO Williams out ( maybe, maybe not, I know) . You can make similar examples for a lot of carmanufacturers ( except the japanese ones). I mean they could have picked more cars truly representing the sport- or race history of a brand. A Corrado is indeed a good example hi racing. It is fast, good-looking and a true driverscar and still is very popular.
I hope all the cars from previous GT's are included and PD has included enough cars of every category to get nice six-car races! What will there be to challenge the T-Ford? I hope something more different than five other T-Fords. I am very happy With the Merc 300 SL and the Jag E-type but I hope I can race them against maybe an Aston Martin DB 4 or 5, a Cobra Daytona or similar cars from that era.
PD has also included some very futuristic or strange cars. In that diffirent category they could include a few other funny things to drive( with truly realistic physics ) How about a few Top-fuel Dragsters, a few karts (to play at motorsportsland), a few monstertrucks etc...
Finally, I hope we can drive everything around the Nurburgring ...

As for the Pontiac cars, remember we still have a very incomplete list. It's quite possible that there are a few Firebirds tucked away in there that we know nothing about. I think it's safe to say it's Pontiac's most famous car, and as KY is a car enthusiast, as as the game is meant to be a sort of "automotive history museum", it would be highly illogical to leave the car out, especially since they have the Pontiac license. Unless Pontiac is being overly stupid about the license since the car is no longer in production.

has any one seen this car before? this is the first time ive seen it.

Yeah it does have more american cars than any other games but it bothers me when I see under the Nissan list a huge amount of "tuned" versions of the 350Z and Skyline, and then I look at a manufacturer like Plymouth or Pontiac and there is maybe 4 or 5 cars available. Like in Gran Turismo 3 there was a million lancers and skylines, yet BMW had one freakin car, and not even a very good one. Pontiac's Firebird and the Grand Prix have been a major part of Pontiac's lineup for a long time and I have yet to see either of them in the game. Instead there is a Vibe and a Sunfire...wtf?

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking about. But I'm sure there will be at least one Firebird in there, I've been expecting this car since GT2, as the BMW M3 wich I don't get why it took 3 games to get it.

And yes, I'm pissed that there are no Ferraris, Porsches, Lambos, Mosler, etc. PD should priorize these over the inkredible 1970 Celica Whooooo :indiff:. I will get Forza to solve this out ( the demo convinced me) but I'd prefer having them in my fav game.Big progress has been made but there is still some to do.

see ya :sly:

The list is good. But, sadly enough, there still is indeed an overload of Japanese cars, I mean, it's not that I dislike them, but sometimes it's just too much. Fair enough, I guess thats a good hit on the Japanese market, so I won't nitpick about it. The thing I don't like though, is how brands like Aston Martin and Pagani all of a sudden only have one car representing them. Good thing on the other hand is the TVR / Lotus / Audi / Mercedes /... / range. But if they could add all those, why couldn't they update their old V8 Vantages to GT4 standard for example.

<Z>
think your a bit off there, there wil be a few Astons and we already have seen two Pagani's in the game in the Zonda S 7.3 and the Zonda Race car. I would like to see more, tbh I'm more dissapointed in the TVR range so far, I really want to be able to race in a Typhon, Tuscan Challenge and a Sagaris, not to mention a few TVR race cars (especially the Speed 12 GTS).

The Firebird and Camaro are mechanical counterparts, thus we don't really need both. I'm wondering if PD put in an Acura Integra as well as Honda, and the same with the NSX.

You're right they are the same car and I would expect them to perform and handle the same way in-game. But yet in GT3 they put in a Honda Integra Type R and an Acura Integra Type R, as well as two Acura NSX's that were really no different except for a slight outward appearance. Was that really necessary?

They don't really have to include the latest WS6 either, they could put in the 69 Trans Am which was a much different breed from the 69 Camaro SS or Z/28. I'm sure people would enjoy a 2nd gen Trans Am similar to Smokey the Bandit.

I really hope they dump the GT3's Mark I Sport and replace it with a newer one that has less understeer. Renault has worked on this car and really improved it, with things like caster adjustments. I still have seen absolutely nothing on the 2005 models.

Their R8 would also be interesting, too, from the "museum" aspect of GT4.

Strike that! Here is the Clio 3, the next generation.
To be introduced in Geneva, 2005, so I doubt it will be in the first GT4.

I will try to explain me in the best way i can.

Like Italian i can say "They have forgot the most popular car of italian history!(see Lacia Fulvia, Fiat 124)"
Someone (some american people) say "they forgot to put in the Pontiac GranPrix" ... I NEVER heard about tihs car before in my whole life! ... like you probably never heard about the Lancia Beta Montecarlo, Fiat 127 Sport, Alfasud ...

The PD is japanese ... so you have to accept they are ... (what's the english for PARTIGIANI?? :indiff: ) ... ... they do a game with their culture of car!

in the end ... i hope you have understood ... ...
no?

:ouch:

I'm happy with the list. Too many japanese cars, but we have to accept it, it's a japanese game. But it's not that disturbing, because there are a lots of cars which were a good surprise to spot on the list. I've never would thought that before that PD will include the old DTM 190 Evo, the Lotus Carlton, and the MkI GTi in GT4. It's great that they are in.

Understandably there is an overload of Japanese cars.
As GT4 is to an extent a "history of the car" game, I think there is a bit of a lack of British cars in particular. Morgan wasn't even approached, not sure what the story is with MG Rover. The list of UK cars that could have been in is endless, from the 1929 Blower Bentley to the 30's SS Jaguar 100 to the 40's Jaguar XK120 & Morris Minor to the 50's Riley RM & MK2 & 7 Jags to the 60's Austin-Healey 3000 & Triumph TR5 to the 70's Rover SD1 & Triumph Dolomite Sprint to the 80's Aston Martin Vantage and so on. Remember that Britain didn't only Rule the waves at one time, we also made some of the worlds greatest cars. Ofcourse the list isn't complete yet, so let's hope.

Hey Cerbman hows it going? I see your point there, theres tonnes of classics in Britain it would be a real pity if they arn't represented with more than thee E-Type (which is a fab car, it just doesn't take the place of the British car industry back in the 50's and 60's and earlier.
