Heathers 2005 Subaru Impreza RS

Now that I am not pre-starting the car every day I am getting 26 mpg with city/highway driving. If I got out out on the highway for a while I bet I could get close to 29 mpg with this car. I am sure the K & N filter helps a little too. Those are usually good for adding at least 1 mpg better gas mileage depending on the car.

A couple months ago I mentioned that I had a strange vibration in the car when I turned hard left or hard right from a dead stop. I FINALLY figured it out. Its not the rear axles, not the rear diff, and not the CV joints. Its actually the transfer case fluid. Which uses the same fluid as the tranny. I flushed the tranny fluid and fixed the problem. I plan to do at least 1 more tranny fluid flush just to make sure I get all the old fluid out of there. So if you ever feel a strange "chatter" while turning sharp left or sharp right in an AWD vehicle, then the transfer case / tranny fluid needs to be replaced. Very easy and very cheap fix. :)

hope your enjoying it camaro. my dads considering getting rid of his uk300 bugeye becuase he cannot afford to run it for petrol.:(

OH yeah this Subaru has been one of THE best cars I have owned. I have had it for a year with no problems, besides this minor tranny fluid problem. Which was a very easy and cheap fix.

t/y I just had a Viper remote starter and keyless entry installed on the car last night. No more cold car in the morning. :)

Yeah let me know how your tires do. I need rear tires bad for this car for sure. It will make a huge difference. I forgot the inside of the rear tires is pretty bald from the car being out of tow and having too much negative camber before the alignment. I am a little concerned about the snow / salt going into the hoodscoop on top of the engine. I might design something to prevent it from all going right on the engine like that.

Camber doesn't wear out tires faster, toe does. Negative camber wears them at the same rate as 0 camber, it just wears them on the inside as opposed to across the width of the tire.
Nice subaru you got there. Looks like a great deal as well.
I just found a 1999 2.5RS that I'm really liking.

Thats the point I already made. There was too much negative camber on the car when I bought it so the inside of the tires on the rear had more wear than the outer part of the tires.

I FINALLY bought a set of tires for my car over the weekend. About $425.00 out the door. 30 minutes to install. I have had the car since 2009 and this is the first set of tires I purchased for it. In fact its only the 2nd set of tires ever to be on the car. I finally hit the 50,000 mile mark on the car. Took me 3 years to put over 25,000 miles on it. Thats an average of 8,300 miles per year. Not really that much considering its my daily driver.

Still one of the best vehicles I have owned. So far in the 3 years that I have owned it I have only spent money on maintenance items like oil change and brakes. Other than that its been a very reliable car. Amazing in the winter since its AWD. Cant wait to see how well it does with brand new tires instead of the bald tires that have been on it since I purchased the car in 2009.

Heather wants to buy a front bumper cover for this car but I am having a hard time finding a decent deal. Any suggestions? Looking to spend around $200-$300.
