Kinda thought I should make an introduction my first thread as a new GTPlanet member, I'm pretty sure it's common courtesy for any new member on any forum.
So anyway, hello everyone. I'm an Australian GT fan who stumbled upon GTPlanet on the web while searching for anything and everything to do with GT5, back before I picked up a PS3 and the game.
I first started playing Gran Turismo with the GT2 title. I had seen both the original GT and GT2 on friends' Playstations, and when I first had a crack at the game myself (Mustang GT, GT2 ) I couldn't believe how the cars reacted and handled compared to every other car racing sim I had ever played. Hooked right from the word go! I didn't start playing really heavily however until GT4 as it wasn't until then that I had my own Playstation. I achieved 100% completion with GT4 and it will be some time before I get even close to racking up the kms I did with that game on GT5!
I recently picked up a G27 wheel & pedals which has brought a whole new dimension to Gran Turismo for me. It's like starting all over again really, so much more challenging and yet so rewarding when you get it right. I particularly love having the ability to drive H-pattern equipped cars with a proper H-pattern shifter & clutch, it's alot of fun.
Apart from GT5, the only other game I play much on my PS3 is Red Dead Redemption, which I thoroughly recommend to anyone who hasn't played it. I think it's the best non-car related game I have ever played. I'd also strongly recommend ( to anyone with a PC ) the old classic Grand Prix Legends. It's an amazing racing simulator, particularly given it's age, and it has a fantastic online racing community who refuses to let it die! It's worth a play just for the fantastic range of old circuits from an era when fast & challenging circuits were a must, and safety took a backseat. You WILL crap your pants the first time you try to take Masta Kink at the old Spa flat out in a 60's F1 car!![Smile :) :)](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/smile.svg?v=3)
Anyway now that I've joined the community I can't wait to put my opinions forth on afew topics and hope to make some new friends in the community with a view to some improved online racing, as it's hard to find like-minded people to race with online who are into racing hard but fair, and don't take it all too seriously.
A big thanks to those behind GTPlanet for creating such a great forum for Gran Turismo fans everywhere. 👍
