I use helmet cam, with helmet and depth of field off, look to apex at 100, and leaning to about 75. I play on a single screen and I give priority to seeing the apex clearly while I'm braking and turning in. I use a slightly wider calculated value of 85 for my setup, but I do also use the speed sensitivity settings to narrow my field of vision at slower speeds.
I love look to apex, and for those that hate it I can understand why, as it could confuse you if you're not used to seeing what oversteer looks like while your looking into the corner. I swear by it, though.

I love it. I was so used to GT5 and GT6, my first two racing games but PCars1 got it right. I remember trying out the NFS Shift games and I liked their immersion with the movement and what not but couldn't get it to work well on a controller (before I owned a wheel). Funny how those were made by the same team right? They were onto something back then and kept improving.

A question from someone who has PC1 but not yet PC2...

Looking at the pictures above by @Scaff it appears that you can now alter all these settings while on track. Is this the case? If you don't have to exit back out to the main option screen that's a great benefit. Being able to tweak them on the fly would be much easier/quicker.

Also are the view options for each individual car or an overall setting?
Yes you can change the settings from the pause menu, however you can't save camera settings per car just overall.

I think I am the only one who uses it and has the actual helmet showing (Shift 2 Unleashed days!) :P I do turn the DOF 'Off' as the heavy blur is not realistic at such speeds and adjust the speed sensitivity right up, quite similar to Scaffs settings. Very Immersive this game. I also set the weather to 8.00 am overcast for even more realism around Knockhill in a small car and then I can stay on there ages.

I run with helmet on, your not alone.

I have helmet off, just for more visibility. Been using low look to apex (like 30) to avoid dizziness. But looking at some videos I'm going to turn it up (around 70 to start). Don't care for the blur effects, have those off. Just kind of a distraction to me personally.

I like the blur effect :)
I tried the GTR around Knockhill :) It's a fun track, but not with a 986 hp car :scared:

I think the helmet looks great and I used it in PCars1, but the fact that it (realistically) muffled the sound put me off and I decided to not use it in PCars2. The added visibility (for the dials, etc.) is also a bonus.

Turned the movement settings up to 100 tonight. Depth of field, Show Helmet and the speed sensitive field of view change all set to off.

After a few hours I’m not getting the dizzy sensation anymore, pretty adjusted to it now and liking it.

Question: I turned Show Helmet to Off. Now when I tried to turn it back On there is no helmet. I tried restarting the game but nothing. Has anyone run into this? Is there a solution?

Which car?

The helmet you get is period correct and for some of the open face ones you will not see an outline.

Oh and make sure you haven't got it in cockpit view instead of helmet view, thats got me more than a few times.

Made sure it was Helmet Cam and non open face Helmets. No dice.

I haven't found anything online. A couple complaints but no answers. Should I post in the Bug thread?

Crazy.

Odd, could well be an issue, so mention it in the bugs thread and see if SMS are aware.

What's your Helmet Cam setting? number you have it at? The helmet wont show if helmet cam number is at 90 and over, try bring it down to 89 with helmet on

I use it for immersion, really like how the driver turns his view into corners and I like the blur effect as well.

However I have the helmet itself turned off as the lower part often blocks a section of the dashboard I would like to have visible.

That's not why I won't use it. I don't like look-to-apex because I "read" the car's handling status by observing its movement. If the viewpoint artificially pivots into the corner, it throws off my sense for how (or if) the car is rotating. It also just plain disconnects me from the experience, because it's not my head that's moving.

I use an FOV of 85 and do fine turning my real gaze to the sides of the screen. To answer the thread topic, I don't use the helmet view because it affects the audio, and I don't use the DOF effect because it's unrealistic. They're not bad gimmicks, but none of it makes the experience more realistic or immersive to me; more the opposite.
