You are right, the TGT probably would have the same issues. If I had that kind of money though... I would probably be willing to take the chance. The reviews say it feels unbelievably realistic. But, I'm not rich (just your average Joe) so I will be looking for something I can enjoy for years and let the kids play with from time to time.
The newer T-GT has improved design over the t300. External power supply, cooling built in the motor. These where the main causes for issues for the t300.

In general the thrustmaster wheels are of higher quality than Logitech wheels, but the Logitech wheels have always been the faster wheels in GT, this goes back to GT5.

It's very simple; if you want to feel exactly what you feel when driving a car, buy the Thrustmaster T300 or T-GT (if you can afford the TGT). If you want to go for top10 times, then you are much better of with a G29 (it's the fastest wheel for Gran Turismo).

Logitech has always been the 'faster' wheel, I can't explain why even tho I've experienced it first hand, with multiple wheels.

I've never been able to reach the same laptimes on a thrustmaster which I drove on a Logitech (goes for the old DFGT,G27& the new G29).

I love my T500RS + TH8RS but my next wheel is definitely going to be a G29, without a doubt.
Apparantly “alien” are so fast because they use low FFB settings. The G27 was widely used when the first “aliens” popped up from the scene. Nowadays lots have jumped to DD wheels. Better wheels do not make you faster. I still own my g29 and it still is great wheel. I just get more immersion from my T-GT

I currently have the G29 with no complaints whatsoever. Compared to the G27 I used on the PS3 it’s less notchy; as a matter of fact I don’t feel any notching at all though I don’t crank the strength up to the max and generally use the default settings in each game. It feels great in GTS, DR, and D4. It’s *ok* on WRC7. Haven’t tried PC2.

The TM wheels are really tempting. I purchased a T300RS a few years ago, and to be honest it was a totally different experience from the DFGT I was using so I exchanged it for a G27. Three years later I may give the T300RS another try just to make a good comparison. The new R383 wheel and TH8A shifter seem like a great combo with T3PA pedals. I’m a little concerned about the T300RS reliability, but with reasonable care I cannot imagine having immediate issues. In the meantime the T-GT is way too expensive.

I was over my buddies the other week and jumped on his g29 to try it out. FFB is so weak. I turned it all the way up and its not even as strong as my t500 on the weakest settings I bet. I was like to wonder youre so fast. Low FFB def make you faster.

How long have you had your T300? I definitely like the idea of the better technology. Everything I've read does say the FFB is better. The only FFB wheel I've ever owned was an original XBOX 360 one. I used it for Forza, until the 360 died. I only paid $50 for that wheel. So any of the new stuff will be a huge improvement to that wheel.

Sorry I missed your post, I was camping for the weekend and just got back late last night. A little less than a year, but I have had 0 issues with it. I'm of the opinion that anything technological will show it's problems within the first 30 days, that's why I never even bother with extended warranties.

The t150 pro with t3pa pedals working good for me. IMG_2780.JPG

If you're going to pay that much for the T-GT, you may as well go for the Fanatec CSL Elite with paddles and LC pedals for around the same price and is a better wheel.

So how are the original G29 pedals? Are they responsive enough?
If you want better pedals than G29 you need to invest on fanatec loadcell pedals.
G29 pedals can be upgraded in several ways later, with small bucks or moderate cost, referring my own pedals(G27), invested extra $75 on pressure sensitive brake approx 4y(+?) ago, feeling beats few fanatec loadcell pedals with it.

Go for fanatec if you want something fancy day 0 tech, go for TM if you want supported higher level day 1 tech, take Logitech if you want something which last to your son and can be fixed on your own, if ever breaking.

I think its not so much that they use low settings but its more that they dont use to high settings. I think most people run way to high FFB setting for the wheels they have. A G29 only has a max torque of around 2.2 Nm, a T300 has only around 4 Nm while direct drive wheels range from 8 Nm to 20 Nm.

With settings set too high the FFB starts clipping, meaning the wheel is delivering max force while the game is not doing so yet. If your wheel is at 100% force when the signal from the game is only 75% you lose 25% of your FFB fidelity. Meaning you cant feel the difference in FFB from 75 to 100% range. Idealy you want your wheel setup so that 100% force of in game signal matches 100% of your wheels available force allowing you to feel all the differences in FFB over the entire range.

T-GT is $1099 CDN, Fanatec CSL Elite + CSP LC pedals is $690 + customs fees which comes to around $1044 CDN or so after conversion. No retailer up here sells Fanatec. :(

Mate pretty much you need to pay the same amount of money.Fanatec is the better option.

That makes it really close. In that case if you are to invest further in an ecosystem. I would pick the one with better availability in your country

Hi! I received my T300 Rs Gt Edition less than a week ago. I've bought it on Eprice (don't know if it's only italian site or not) for € 300, on sale at 25% off (than average prices I've seen around, like amazon for example).
After some hours playing GTS I can say I'm really happy of how it works! FFB is reeeeeally strong (had to turn it a bit softer [like from 5 to 3] to drive comfortable). Wheel materials (fine plastic and metal) seem to be pretty strong and (I hope) durable. With the updated (version 27) firmware, you can easily install linking the wheel to pc, I didn't have any problem with FFB or any button. But the best consideration that can be done is about the fact you can also have T3PA with this bundle. I think that this makes the big difference! It's really really many times better than other simple plastic pedals been sold around (with not so lower prices). Consider the investment of 50 € more to have make-the-difference-pedals :D

I highly recommend the Logitech G29

Just a nod to the long view. Assume that you are going to love driving with a ffb wheel. Buy cheaper now because in a year you are going to want top tier gear. The t150 or g29 on sale are fine. Don't pay more than $200 because you are going to want to scrape up $600 to $800 later on.
yep. this describes me to a T... t150 user with the crappy pedals... ABS on default takes care of the brake, and, until the game puts a linear throttle in i don't see a fancy set being worth it... to "me"... and, I'm lucky to play 2hrs in a week, so...

With TMX/T150's pedals, I put a makeup remover sponge behind the brake pedal, can feel when it starts to resist to manage no ABS braking.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but the Fanatec CSL Elite PS4 is the only wheel capable of running on a PS4, PC and Xbox One (with an Fanatec Xbox compatible wheel) - may make a difference if you have more than one console but prefer one wheelbase mounted on your rig.

There are other additional devices like Drivehub but the CSL Elite PS4 already comes with this feature.

This is nice to know since I play all 3 platforms, I was talking to some other fellow simracers otday about the CSL Elite as a matter of fact but being in Canada, it's super expensive to buy since not only is it in the US but shipping (and VAT/customs) adds up. There is one seller up here in Canada and a couple people I know personally has dealt with the particular seller and says he's bad news.

I am one of those aliens, when I use a Logitech.

Just got my new wheel. T300rs gt. I don’t have enough space for a seat so I’m looking for a wheel stand. What would u guys suggest? Wheel stand pro v2(pole in the middle isn’t a problem), next level wheel stand or the gt omega wheel stand. I’m going to sit in my couch(45-55cm above ground). If I go for the wheel stand pro I’ll have to wait couple of weeks, but I’m still looking for other site to get it sooner.
With this info what would you suggest?

I've got the t300 and have it mounted to the GT Omega. I'd suggest this or the next level since they are modular. If later on the space becomes available you can purchase the rear subframe and seat box and add the chair. Would have to start over if you got the wheel stand pro.

I've owned a g29 for 2 weeks. My CSL elite with LC came yesterday. I'll post my detailed impressions later after work. But the verdict is this the fanatec elite is on another level in terms of performance, function , flexibility, and feel (as in to the touch - not something I thought I would care about until I actually held it in my hands and compared it to holding titties). Dont get me started on the LC. Lord jesus its a fire! Previous wheel was a t300.

To be honest, all I'm after is quick lap times. As long as it's quick, I don't mind how it feels. :P
I use a Logitech DFGT with a GIMX adapter which I run with FFB on 1 or none at all. It feels great and is definitely producing some good lap times but I do wonder if getting a G29 or T300 will make me go any quicker or make any noticeable difference.
