Nice to get some background on our new members as to what has interested them into racing, racing with GT4, and racing here at the WRS.
See you on the track. Though I see only Yusuf is old enough to drink, legally.

To yaywalter, if you are concerned with your times, stick around and ask questions and we will help out when possible. And watch replays, they can help enormously in many ways.

Just yesterday after watching Mr P's video I went back to Deep Forest and ran the quickest lap of the week. It was the second lap and clean too. I had learned that a certain line I was taking through an area was incorrect.

Just started playing gt4 again. Had a MAJOR op done on my leg in Jan and have moved back home to recover, I have an awful lot of spare time right now. I've recently acquired a dirty great big plasma and my component cable back (which I thought I'd lost) So now I'm gonna re-hone my racing skills and compete to the best of my ability. I'm waiting til GT5 comes out to get a PS3, although the lure of GTA 4 is getting stronger daily. When that happens bye bye social life temporarily I think!
anyways, I'm looking forward to the competition especially if everyone's honest with their lap times and keeps things clean through the bends.

Peace

Buckit

Not to pressure you or anything, but... get a PS3! C'mon, everybody's doing it! Plus, GTA4 is reeeealllly cooool....

Hey, I'm about a 1000 in the red at the moment and with no prospects til I can walk again, the PS3 is gonna have to wait :( I bought a monster PC this year already, plus my pops is talking about getting one downstairs for Blu ray. Lib city!!!!!!!! peer pressure peer pressure......

Assisting involves, never ever being late, working under extreme stress sometimes (had 15 mins with Rhianna in a hotel before a gig) and it's quite technical re: the lighting side of things, wicked fun, The downside is being freelance -no sick pay........

the upside......

probably has something to do with my ****ed hips..... happy days.

Hi and welcome to the WRS first of all you need to drive the qualifier, to see which Division you are placed in for a close race between your fellow racers...

WRS Qualifier

Once or if you have done that and submitted your time to Sphinx, then u can start Driving the Weekly Race's, for exsample heres this weeks race but deadline is tomorrow...

WRS Week 158

And finally after u have done a session or two, then you can post your splits but not Lap time on the forum and they will be put with the rest here...

LUXY leaderboard

To see how u stack up, then near the deadline each week just post your time to Sphinx again each week and BOOM! all done.

hope all this infomation helps its as simple as clock work and as simple as i can explain it, you may also need a maxdrive or some sort of memory stick for prove or your Time if you achieve a gold time. and that is all but hope you enjoy your time here at the WRS :)

QUIK!

Very good help to the new member Steve! A little remark tho, you can actually do a current WRS combo while the steward is processing your qually submission, or even both together 👍

Hi guys, I registered yesterday and would like to submit my quali time. When does PM become active? A certain number of days or posts? I'm looking forward to race in the WRS!

I've just approved your first post here on GT Planet. :)
Now that has happened, give the server an hour or 2 to update you to your new status with the PM box activated and you should be all set. Look forward to racing with you! 👍

G'day,

I'm Donny, 36 from Australia and been playing GT since number one on PSOne.

As soon as I get my head around .max and converting files I hope to compete with you all. (Found enough threads to see me through).

I have been looking around here for a few days and wish I found this place years ago.

Cheers

Jeltsin here. Age 13 from Bronx, New York.

Not a noob to the Gran Turismo World. Been playing since GT1.

Currently passing GT4 with alot of money & lots of pages of cars hoping to get a PS3 when i graduate.

Welcome Craig.
I see you also like Marcos Ambrose, have you watched him in NASCAR the last couple of years. He is quite the race car driver.

Hey mate,

Where in aus are you from?

Only just started back in the WRS myself. Was one of the original starters of the WRS back a few years ago. Have done that many OLR and of course recently the GT5P thing that I actually forget when I first started doing the OLR.
Raced at the GTX, GTBN, TORC Talk, GTP, SoGT, Racing Line, just about everywhere. :)

Marcos is a lovely guy and a great race car driver. Im on the south coast of New South Wales and like most have played all the various GT's and any other decent Car titles. Built the sim a few years ago now but it still works really well and under orders from the bride it had to look Ok as well.

Hi All,

Dominic from Adelaide, South Australia.
I'm a 27 year old mechanical engineering student. I had a few races in the WRS here several years ago (late 2003), but changing life circumstances saw me lose passion for several things. Decided to get back into having a go in a few races again now after being at home all week alone as m wife and daughter has been away at my in-laws as my wife had an operation on hew knee and needed to rest.

Hopefully I can work out how to upload files for viewing now that I have FTP access to my PS2 these days.

Hi Guys,
Well I am a brazilian living in the USA right now and recently I was racing weekly in a real racing forum but I think they thouhgt the the sim racing thing wasn't so good...so I was playing almost by myself...
but now Im really exciteted to start racing with you all .

I was just wondering if anyone could point out how the gold, silver and bronze works in the results? I can't seem to find any information on this?

Thanks

The Gold, Silver and Bronze divides each division into thirds. It does a few things. First if a driver gets numerous 'golds' in their division and is clearly in the middle of the next division up they will likely get promoted. It also provides an easier way to show your own progress whether you used to be a bronze placer in the division and now are at silver, etc. There are no added 'bonuses' really except for braggin' rights in your sig maybe :D as some people do keep track of their podium division placements. Hope that helps 👍 and welcome back, you pre-date me I stared the wrs in 2004 :)

well I m still waiting for the system to let send a pm...does anybody know how long it takes after you post your first message?

It should get activated after your first post is approved, but that happened yesterday, and now your second post appeared on the approval list too.
I've approved it, and will now go and edit your user profile to enable your PM box if it hasn't already. You should be good to go in about 30 minutes when the server refreshes. 👍

:tup:Hey guys,

my name's Tiequinn aka: GTP_Tiequinn. I just got approved for WRS. I'm so eager to begin my qualifying process and be placed in a competive division. I did some poking around thinking that WRS is for GT5 Prolouge. But it appears to me that everyone's still competing in GT4. I have ps3 without the hardware or software emulation (the new 40gb model). I felt disappointed that I won't be able to compete until GT5P WRS offically takes off. Are you guys waiting for the full GT5 to be released for WRS to be available on PS3 platform? Also I did some reading and I need to submit ps2 replay file via .max. You got to buy a device that'll convert the file to .max. I'm on the registry list and yet have to qualify to be placed in a division. GT4 seem to be the only place where I'm able to qualify. Is that accurate? If I use the same settings for WRS and Qualifying on GT5P will I get comparable times and results or is it too different?

I'm delighted to be a member of the competive racing community. I love GT so much, it's the best! You folks are awesome too!!

Delighted to be a member Ciao

The GT4 WRS has nothing to do with the GT5 registry. In this section we're competing with GT4. There will be a GT5 WRS when the full game is released, as well as other GT5 competitions, as far as I know. Only then we will be able to get a GT5 division. The current divisions are only for the GT4 WRS. You can't even play this qualifier on GT5P as there's no Infineon. And the times would be much different, because the physics are different, and the M3 in GT4 is different from the M3 in GT5P. Submitting replays via .max files (where a maxdrive is needed) is also only for GT4, as there's a much easier way to share PS3 files.
